Had a very comfortable night. B and B for 1 was 79 quid. Good parking, nice spacious clean room with all my needs met. Good beer (really good actually). Good pub grub. Substantial breakfast. Staff who cared and who had and showed their own personalities... which is something I like. Traditional small hotel in a leafy suburb. Good choice if... More

Where to start? The prawn cocktail had an odd smoky taste to it and the salad was just shredded lettuce. The mains were uninspiring and bland - dry meat, mash that didn't really taste of anything and vegetables that had been cooked to the point that they were virtually liquid, oh and the pepper. Lots of pepper. Chocolate brownie was... More

Great if you like loads and loads of peppercorns overpowering the veggies and boil in the bag beef. I was really disappointed because I have eaten Sunday Lunch here before and it was lovely. Definitely seems to be hit and miss.

Pleasantly surprised on arrival to find such a nice outside area and garden. Inside also warm and inviting, good real ale selection and great taste. A warm welcome from a young girl, who tried to be helpful but lacked in her product knowledge. We decided to eat but the menu lacked in imagination and flavour, which came apparent when the... More

I can honestly say that in my opinion you would be pushed to find a nicer couple running a pub, always a welcome. The pub has had its ups and downs but it is getting better and better. I can't comment on the food as i live so close we don't eat at the pub. What I will say is... More

If you have been invited here by someone who has eaten here previously, then choose to eat exactly what they're eating and you'll be fine. Don't choose that sticky chilli sauce on anything. Unfortunately I chose the prawn torpedoes. Well was it me? Was surprised when curled up prawns in thick batter arrived. Looked on search engine and prawn torpedoes... More

Was on a family trip to the Teesside and went with my Cousin for an early evening drink and to give the kids a run around in the beer garden, they absolutely loved the play equipment they had there, and cos it was enclosed we could relax a bit and enjoy a nice glass of wine.

Stopped up here with work last week, would rather stay above a pub than in a Travelodge. Room was really swish for the money and had a cracking cooked breakfast, will definitely be back next time up here

So good to have something a bit lighter and different on a hot day . Will definitely be back ... Staff very friendly and beers good. Lovely garden but too hot to sit outside. Would have been nice to have a salad on the menu .. And a few more veggies with the platter.

The Parkwood Hotel is a converted Victorian house built in 1865 and set in its own grounds in the smart suburb of Hartburn, just a few minutes drive from the centre of Stockton. This three star rated hotel incorporates a vibrant public bar and two restaurants, which are enjoyed by locals and guests alike. The hotel is only a few minutes drive from the old market town of Stockton. Stockton Business Park is nearby. The region has a wealth of scenic country roads, excellent footpaths and cycle routes. It is approximately 30 miles from Newcastle and York, 20 miles from Durham and six miles from Teesside Airport. The spectacular countryside of the North York Moors, Cleveland Hills and the Durham and Northumberland coastlines are nearby.
