The Parkwood Hotel is a converted Victorian house built in 1865 and set in its own grounds in the smart suburb of Hartburn, just a few minutes drive from the centre of Stockton. This three star rated hotel incorporates a vibrant public bar and two restaurants, which are enjoyed by locals and guests alike. The hotel is only a few minutes drive from the old market town of Stockton. Stockton Business Park is nearby. The region has a wealth of scenic country roads, excellent footpaths and cycle routes. It is approximately 30 miles from Newcastle and York, 20 miles from Durham and six miles from Teesside Airport. The spectacular countryside of the North York Moors, Cleveland Hills and the Durham and Northumberland coastlines are nearby. Our five comfortable rooms are all ensuite and contain the little luxuries that make a stay at the The Parkwood enjoyable. Some rooms have garden views. The Parkwood offers freshly prepared food at very reasonable prices. Lunchtime bar meals, from sandwiches to Wensleydale Chicken, are excellent value for money. In the two restaurants, the chef's specials change on a regular basis and include original dishes prepared from locally sourced meats and fish. Free onsite parking is available.

I booked this hotel for my daughter and myself to stay in after a garden party that a friend was throwing, unfortunately for myself, a few days before we were due to stay here I had to be rushed to hospital with Diabetic Ketoacidosis. I attempted to cancel this reservation as soon as I could given the circumstances and because it was less than 24 hours before checking in they could not refund my money. I found out after I had tried to call to cancel that they had charged my credit card anyway. I was discharged the same day as the booking so I decided I would go anyway (not really in the best state for travel but I had paid £76 for the room and I wasn’t about to waste that money)

My daughter was on crutches at the time (she had sprained her ankle) they don’t have disabled access, so her dad ended up carrying her up the stone steps outside and then up to the first floor to our room.

When we got to our room we thought it looked nice but quite small. The tea and coffee making facilities were excellent (could do with some bottled water) there were even some biscuits. The bed was big and comfy, the window was easy to open and there was a fan in our room (thank goodness). Our bedroom looked out onto the beer garden, it was nicely lit up with string lights and looked beautiful. We were expecting a lot of noise from the pub below, it WAS a Saturday after all, but surprisingly it was really quiet apart from a few voices and laughter (which didn’t bother us at all).

The en-suite bathroom was a good size, the bath was bigger than expected (also had a shower over it) toilet and sink obviously. There was a mirror over the sink that lit up which was handy. Shampoo, conditioner and hand wash was provided (although it WAS screwed into the wall, no chance of nicking that then :-D). Towels were provided, hairdryer as well as welcome pamphlet and room service menu. Breakfast was not included but charged at £10 per person.

We stayed in the family room which was clean and comfortable. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and we were made to feel very welcome.

Social distancing measures are in place and we felt that we had a ‘covid safe’ experience.

We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was fantastic, and again we could not fault the service. Breakfast was also delicious!

This is a good old down to earth, unpretentious place. Don’t expect fancy furniture or expensive fussy food - just expect a warm welcome, a comfortable nights sleep and great friendly service!

We will definitely be staying here again!

If it’s going to survive in these trying times it needs to be more child friendly. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was clean well equipped but could use a little updating. On a downside the heat during the night was nothing short of oppressive. Drinks were a tad on the expensive side. The food was really nice couldn’t fault the quality and quantity and the service was excellent.
We were at my daughters birthday in a separate room and were told children had to be out by nine o’clock. I understand the bar area because of the rules attached to that area but a room where there were no pumps or optics I think a little Lea way could have been shown. In these turbulent times with the cost of living crisis I would of thought it’s better to keep twenty plus people happy inside rather than telling them they have to go outside because of five children.

Went for drinks and some food with friends. There were 4 of us at the table… 2 bottles of wine, jäger bombs, pints and whiskey purchased (already a decent spend) ordered x2 Parmos which were okay…. Asked for some sweet chilli sauce to which the staff member handed the card machine stating “manager said you have to pay the £1 for it” ….. for a really small tub of sweet chilli…. There was significant damp in the room we were sat in so hopefully the extra £1 that the manager is charging for sauces the damp problem might get fixed soon…it’s not the most pleasant of atmospheres. I’d probably avoid going back.

After s disastrous Xmas lunch here a few years ago I vowed never to return. However I decided that we would give it another chance and came here for Sunday lunch with my wife. Sadly it was a shambles. £17.95 gets you one small slice of beef one Aunty Bessie Yorkshire pudding a pile of cauliflower cheese and a few roasted potatoes and some shrivelled up parsnips and all served on a cold plate. Even the gravy was warm. NEVER again.

Never been here before, and I would definitely drink there again, but I will definitely not eat there again.

The place itself is beautiful and has a nice atmosphere. But I think the drinks are a little overpriced. Staff were very friendly and kept the table clear and made sure to ask if we needed more drinks.

So, why wouldn't I eat there again. I ordered steak pie and chips and was disappointed to say the least, both with portion size and price.

My pie was a warmed up Pukka pie served with 8 undercooked chips, and peas that were served in a pot and luke warm at best. So I was a bit gutted to have to pay £15 for this meal.

It's fair to say that were still hungry after our meal. (My partner had the same, only she had 7 chips).

In all, lovely place, poor overpriced food.

Embarrassing. Booked a table for 6:45 . Eventually got our starters at 8:15…..only after we had complained about the delay…..even then the starters were all wrong! So so disappointing as this was a family booking. We were then assured that our main meals would be served in 8 minutes and that our drinks would be free. We decided to stay. Yes the meals were nice…..very nice…. but the experience of waiting without ANY explanation spoilt the whole evening. At the end, when we asked for the bill, the only deduction was the first rounds of drinks….not as promised…all drinks. At this point we were past caring…… would I go back……very very doubtful. I can’t understand why tonight was so bad ….and it was

Set in one of the best areas of Stockton on Tees, this place is a disappointment. We went as a party for Sunday Lunch, OMG, the place is covered with televisions, there was even 2 in the Dining Room. The staff were exceptional, the food arrived just to say warm. The Sunday Tapas lunch was crazy, far too big tapas vegetable dishes of Cauliflower Cheese, and a Cabbage one, the portions would have been better shared between two people, what an absolute waste, the yorkshire pudding with the meat in was tiny. Very disappointing TV's everywhere, there is a lovely little room on the right as you go in, that would be ideal for non TV enthusiasts to dine in peace, but that had a TV in too. We were served by Carla who was really attentive, well doner.

Terrible service, forgotten about and the food wasn’t great at all. Veg was dry, meat tasteless, Yorkshire burnt. Only half decent thing was the gravy. For the price aswell I’d expect a lot better, it was £15.95 for a dinner without anything like cauliflower cheese etc.

Very comfortable stay. Room clean with everything we needed. Had a delicious evening meal in a beautiful outside seating area. Very accommodating, even made sure they had vegetarian sausages for our generous breakfasts. Would definitely recommend.
