Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Simply put, a very good one night stay with breakfast, with a small dog. Fantastic service and attention from the staff at the Wentworth - really good, well presented modern room and delicious breakfast. Easy parking close to the main reception and really nice, comfortable public rooms, highly recommended.

A wonderfully peaceful hotel with an exemplary Team; from Paula and Hanna on Reception, to Catalina, Sophia, Kai and Jamie in the Restaurant and Bar, all hardworking, friendly, pleasant and efficient people, who cannot do enough for you. Credit must go to the Chef and Kitchen Team for consistently excellent and tasty food. The Housekeeping Team keep your accommodation and the communal Lounge areas in excellent order and could not be more helpful. We so enjoy staying at The Wentworth and enjoy it more with each return visit. Thank you to all The Wentworth Team - collectively, you all make a difference and the experience as a guest is superb - thank you one and all!

Our first time dinner at the Wentworth was a total success. In the wonderfully airy red room, we had a delicious three course dinner - and every course was great. The Gazpacho soup was a great way to start the meal and my partner's pate was succulent and tasty. But it was the fish dishes for our mains - sea bass and plaice - that really stood out. Both were cooked perfectly and the portion sizes weren't too overwhelming. Unhurried, we enjoy a bottle of dry French rose to accompany the meal and it was a perfect accompaniment to the fish. We split a pudding - amazing blueberry cheesecake and tried the cheese board too - great portions and some really interesting cheeses. If you live nearby or just visiting, this is a great restaurant, with warm and attentive staff and a really interesting menu.

I’ve had the pleasure of frequenting the Wentworth for the past 10 years, it’s always a favourite of ours to drop in for a pot of tea following a Sunday stomp around the marshes and along the beach. The Wentworth is the last bastion of Britains once world famous seaside hotels, it’s like stepping back into a once care free past, with distinctively old school decor, tentative and polite staff, for the often distinguished clientele who are all here doing their best to escape the hustle and bustle of modern day madness. The Wentworth stands out like a vodka martini against the mocktails of other once grand hotels in the town, who have done all they can to strip themselves of any historical context in their quest to attract a neuvea riche, who aspire to plain white walls, pastel painted furniture, stainless steel and glass, changing the face of all our costal towns. So I say- Bravo to the Wentworth management team for not falling foul to this dire trend that has befallen almost every other hotel and pub on the Suffolk coast, you really are a gem that will forever be a pleasure to those who visit.

Thank you for you very perceptive review of the Wentworth Hotel. You have, with the descriptive prose of your review, captured the essence of the Wentworth as we like it. Although we do move forward in line with modern trends more obviously on the bedroom and bathroom aspects of the hotel, the real essence and character of the hotel lies in the Lounges, Bar and Restaurant where the furniture, colours and fabrics have been chosen to suit the character of the rooms rather than the fashion of the moment and in doing so, seem to envelop our guests in an aura of comfort which they enjoy and appreciate. Nor do we mind being perceived to be old fashioned, not that we are, as, if that is what it takes to provide our guests with surroundings which they really appreciate enjoy and feel at home with, we have achieved what we hoped to achieve. Just back from another excellent stay at the Wentworth Michael ( the owner ) and his team/staff do a great job nothing is to much trouble. Our only thing we would say is, you changed the toiletries from the lovely individual sachets of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner too a hair and body shampoo all in one large bottle which surely is not the same thing. We were disappointed with he toasted sandwich in the bar it was very dry on the outside better to butter the outside before toasting. We did have a very nice stay and will return again, hope this was helpful .

Many thanks for posting a review of your most recent stay. We have introduced a policy combined with the "save the planet"movement of providing refillable bottles of toiletries to attempt to reduce wasted soap tablets and the vast quantities of plastic that are involved with the provision of individual shampoos, conditioner and body wash. We find that a large proportion of our guests bring many of their own preferred toiletries, but should guests specifically require individual bottles of shampoo or conditioner, they can be requested from reception. I am sorry that the toasted sandwich was dry. The bread should be buttered on the outside. This will be followed up with the Chef. We look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to Aldeburgh.

Were there with friends in Aldeburgh to celebrate anniversaries and a birthday and selected this location given the places to visit in and around the town. I will just comment from my wife's and mine thoughts and have to say, overall they are positive. Our room, though smaller than we had hoped, offered all we needed including a sea view but there was one drawback in that the shower occasionally changed to cold so a bit of a shock as you can imagine. Public areas and bar were very pleasant as were the staff while the breakfasts were excellent. A couple of not so good comments however is that we feel the room price is higher that it should be while the evening meal we had there one night - reviewed separately - was not great. However, if we revisited the town, we would consider it again

I loved this hotel service great food great lovely atmosphere. Will not be staying there anymore as they consider dogs more important than people. Since the pandemic more and more establishments make a virtue of allowing dogs They are making it more and more difficult for people who do not like dogs or have allergies to go anywhere.

Response from Michael Pritt, Owner at The Wentworth Hotel
Responded 12 Jan 2024
The Wentworth hotel has always allowed dogs in the hotel. I have been associated with the hotel for 76 years and running it for 48 years and therefore know that having dogs staying with their owners is nothing new. Very often we have no dogs staying and there are other times when we have a few. If you were visiting the hotel over the period after Christmas and over the New Year there is a chance that there would have been more dogs than usual as this is a time when families come to Aldeburgh for the day and a walk along the seafront with their dogs and come into the hotel for a coffee or a light lunch. I am sorry that you feel we consider dogs to be more important than people but I can assure you that that is not the case.

Well, what can I say..... We stayed at this hotel on 20th Dec 2023 and loved it so much we stayed another night! A wonderfully adorned hotel with fantastic staff and fabulous service. A super room (No 20) with dual aspect views over the sea and beach. Michael and his team have a serious intent to make your stay a memorable one and they do not disappoint. I am a heavy critic of everywhere I go an I can not find anything to pull this hotel up on. The rooms were fab, the shower powerful and refreshing, the linen fresh and crispy. The breakfast table service is especially nice and very polite and welcoming. Yes, we will be back, many times and I love Geoffrey the Giraffe Michael you have a great team, you are a lovely man and we look forward to coming again very soon. Best wishes Jod & Jo

We have just returned from a birthday stay for my wife and can only praise the Hotel for a wonderful time. We had a marvellous large sea facing room and on the afternoon of our arrival we had toasted teacakes with tea in the lovely lounge with sea views. As for the meals, what can I say. Dinner on each evening was an excellent 3 course meal, and the breakfast really set you up for the day. The staff were so friendly and very helpful and I would certainly recommend this Hotel, to the extent that we have booked again!!

We had an utterly brilliant lunch in the lounge as part of a special birthday weekend. I cannot fault anything. The party included all the elements for chaos (including a 2 and 4 year old) but it was simply perfect. Really friendly and genuine staff, and a lovely varied menu which suited everyone, all in a seriously impressive and comfortable group of sofas etc.
