Such a shame our meal was a disappointment as we had eaten here a few times before without any issues with family but they were at busier services and before lockdown.
We visited on the first Monday after the eat out promotion had ended for dinner.
Unfortunately as well as lacking customers it would seem the kitchen was lacking ingredients as the 2 courses for £20 menu left us unimpressed compared to previous visits.
Our main was small and didn’t seem to have much of what was stated on the menu and our Bakewell tart dessert was luke warm & missing cherries with a little cherry jam chucked on top. Although we didn’t have the cherries we had pips on the plate which could have been dangerous so they had obviously run out of cherries and not said anything.
Then you get the bill for £51 and they ask for a gratuity on a Monday night when we feel the overall experience was a let down.
Not sure if the management has changed but lacking some what at the moment, it’s a shame to see their standards have slipped as don’t mind paying for good food & service.

Have been going to this pub for some years now and unfortunately since the pandemic it does not tick the boxes anymore. We understand the pressure upon pubs and restaurants with the current restrictions but unfortunately a menu with only a choice of 4 starters and 4 mains is rather disppointing. When asked why so few the answer was that there are fewer chefs? We go to a couple of much smaller pubs who are still producing a substantail menu with plenty of choice and probably with only one or two chefs? The starter was rather small 3 chicken wings with a sauce and a bit of salad and the main although cooked very nicely was advertised with vegetables. The carrot pieces (3) would not make up the size of 1 average sized carrot and the swede pieces (4) were the size of peas. Vegetables are cheap and therefore a good chef could surely make up a good plate of food ,making a bigger dish with better value and more variety costing less to produce?? They need to be a little more innovative. Attitude of manager was quite curt and actually quite arrogant. Be careful with this or you may find people will be reluctant to go back as will we!

The rooms are ok, a bit musty and furnishings worn. Pillows smelled of lavender but a bit sickly. The bed wasn't comfortable and it's a bit noisy at night. Check out by 10am but the cleaner lined up bags egg outside the doors at 8am and made a lot of noise which felt like a hint. The bar was very overpriced for very poor quality beverages. Overall an average place to stay but perhaps one night is enough.

Sunday evening visit to this restaurant I have been many times.

It was very quiet only a few diners in.

The food was nice, we had
Roast beef (x 1)
Roast loin of pork (x1)
Salmon (x1)

The food was well prepared. The problem was flies, lots of them, spoilt the evening continually batting them away from the food and ourselves. I mentioned this and was told 'the restaurant is sprayed regularly' not much of a good answer, maybe being in a rural location it may help to keep the entrance door shut which had been open I am told for the duration of our stay, probably two and a half hours.

If this is the issue at the front of house, I dread to think what the kitchens and back areas were like.

Wouldn't visit again.

Stopped at this pub for a light lunch during a weekend away. The pub was very popular for a Friday lunch time but there was a good amount of parking. The inside of the pub was very stylish but as the weather was warm, we opted to sit outside under a covered area. My husband and I order two of their sandwiches which tasted incredible. I opted for the salted beef and my Husband had the haddock one. The both tasted delicious, fresh and the fries we extremely tasty as they had garlic salt on them. I would definitely recommend stopping here for a light bite, I can't comment on the main courses available but if the sandwiches are anything to go by, they should be very good.

Had a light lunch at the Cadogan Arms. Very good food but surly staff. When I asked to pay in cash, I was told no and given a lecture about how much it costs to accept cash. As long as this pub refuses cash (legal tender!), I will not be returning.

I recently enjoyed a very long overdue catch up with some friends in the garden of the Cadogan. It was a fantastic evening with heaters on the patio to keep us warm all evening. The food was beautifully presented and really delicious. They had a great choice of wines and our waiter was on hand to help us decide on a fabulous New Zealand Sauvignon. The staff were very friendly and had a great knowledge of the menu. They have a smaller menu currently but there was something to suit all our taste buds and we all throughly enjoyed our choices. Thank you for making our evening so fabulous! We will definately be back very soon!

Lovely place. Very easy to find. When checking in the staff member really didn't have a clue and this became very awkward and followed onto dinner.
The room 'George' was nice enough for a 1 night stay although it was incredibly hot and the windows had been left shut with only a tiny fan blowing hot air around the room this leading to very little sleep.
A few cobwebs in room that id seen in previous reviews but fairly clean otherwise.
we were told that they do not have the staff to provide breakfast which is a little disappointing but maybe a fridge could be provided in the room so that drinks can be cooled and maybe cereal, yogurts, jam, butter and croissants can be provided instead. Just a thought.
Also there is a very limited menu at dinner which made it very difficult for the fussy eater like myself.. maybe a few more options would be nice.

Overall I would stay here again but maybe in the cooler months and when breakfast is provided.

Very welcoming atmosphere and smashing food. We had whitebait as a starter which was some of the best we have tasted and had home-made steak burgers for main. So much food we couldn’t manage a dessert. All the food looked amazing. Good range of choices. Beer was fantastic, they brew it a short distance away and very reasonably priced. Staff very obliging and helpful and we will certainly return when back in the area.

The food is good in particular the burger and fish and chips.Go and try it its well worth the visit. In general the menu is good also catering for vegetarian tastes. A visit when the government says we are allowed out is worth it!
