The Priory stopped responding to emails and phone calls about returning our £2000 from cancelled booking, which we were guaranteed would be returned in full on cancellation. On visiting in person we were told by the new owner that this is no longer a hotel. Lavenham Priory Management have sold up and taken our £2000 with no contact or explanations.
I booked the Dairy wing for my wife and her five friends, for a surprise 40th birthday weekend away. From the very start, Jonanthan, was both very eager to help, and very accommodating. He provided recommendations for food, both take away and restaurants, and asked about requirements for the hamper that is provided for breakfast. He collected both the birthday cake and take away for me and so the ladies could just relax and enjoy themselves. As for the Priory itself, all the ladies that went said it was perfect. It was beautiful, elegant, clean, and very private. They felt so at ease, and relaxed all weekend, that rather then go out for a meal on the Saturday night, they stayed in and chatted till the early morning. The Dairy wing was more then big enough for the six of them. I want thank Jonathan for helping me plan a weekend that my wife and her friends will not forget for a very long time. The Lavenham Priory was the perfect place for it.…
We have never stayed in a grade 1 listed building with all mod cons including its own brick canal running underneath the sitting room. A private garden with an opportunity to roam the extensive grounds in the center of Lavenham. The most comfortable and highest bed with its own step ladder! A beautiful romantic setting.
Lavenham Priory seems to be run mainly as a self catering property. They do have three rooms that can be used as a B&B. You have to ring the owner to book and he explains the arrangements for breakfast which for us were basically across the road at No10 which is a wine bar and kitchen. This is a new arrangement (which for us worked well). The breakfast was delicious. We stayed in the garden chamber which was a comfortable room on the first floor away from the road towards the back of the building. The off road parking was a bonus.
We rented the Lavenham Priory, Dairy Wing, for two nights in late October for two couples. It was a special birthday treat and could not have been better. The facilities were very good, plenty of space, privacy and peace and quiet away from the road. Lavenham is a fascinating place and the Priory is located just where you want it – restaurants and pubs to hand and endless history on tap (forget your car for a few days). The owner and his wife made us very welcome, provided a very generous welcome pack and invited us into their own home within the Priory for tea and a tour of a most historic building. This is not a cheap place to stay but for a special occasion it is well worth it. A very good experience.
