A lovely bijoux, high quality B&B with private entrance and parking.

Location:
Long Melford is a “ribbon” development about 2.5 miles long and barely 2 streets deep. The Mill is at the North end of the village, but close the Melford
Hall, several good eateries and we went to the Psalm Sunday evensong at the impressive Holy Trinity Church on hill.

The Rooms:
There are two charming rooms recently converted to a very high standard. Each room has different attributes; the Garden room has a small private garden where breakfast can be served alfresco.
The Melford room has a splendid large roll top metal bath to luxuriate in. Both rooms are made up daily, have fast WiFi and a smart TV so Netflix and other streams are available. Very comfortable and surprisingly quiet.

The Hosts:
Clare and Paul couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. There were excellent communications before we arrived, which included detailed dining suggestions in the area.

Breakfast:
A tour de force. Set up for the whole day. 08:30-09:30. Paul goes out each morning to pick up fresh produce.

The Area:
Long Melford is packed full of Hotels, restaurants and other places eat. We didn’t visit Melford Hall, but those who did, said it was worthwhile.
We went as far North as Southwold 1.5 hours. Other notable spots were Sutton Hoo, Lavenham, Aldeburgh, Framingham (The Castle on the Hill), Ickworth House and Sudbury to visit Gainsborough’s House.

Fantastic service from Paul at the Mill. We stayed here after our wedding and didn't arrive until late at night, however he kindly allowed us to pop over in the morning to drop off our bags, collect the keys and see the room.
When we arrived after the wedding there was a lovely balloon and card on the bed congratulating us on our marriage.
The following morning at breakfast he put a huge sparkler in my pancakes which was a nice touch.
The room was spotless, the bath was amazing, and there were lovely biscuits, teas and coffees available. The toiletries in the room were also amazing.
There was a huge range of breakfast options available but I had the pancakes both mornings and they were without a doubt the best pancakes I've ever had with delicious fresh fruit on. My husband enjoyed his full English as well. There was also a continental buffet.
Despite being on the main road through Melford, the rooms were completely soundproof so we couldn't hear a thing or any traffic noise once we were inside, nor could we hear the people in the room next to us. Paul mentioned this had been a specific part of the design when they had been converting the building.

Overall we had a brilliant stay and we will definitely be back!

Thanks again Paul.

I could not fault this excellent little B & B in any way. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We stayed in the Melford room which was spacious
with a sumptuous brass bath and a separate shower room, it was obvious that no expence was spared on fixtures and fittings. Paul was always on hand and nothing was to much trouble.
His breakfasts were delicious and filling. We would definitely recommend The Mill.

We have had a wonderful stay at The Mill. This was much needed short break for us and it was perfect. We stayed in the Melford Room which has a beautiful, huge William Holland brass bath. Absolutely great for a relaxing soak and a glass of something fizzy. The attention to detail is second to none, the fixtures and fittings are obviously great quality and give the room an extra special feel. The bed was so comfortable I have been trying to work out how I can fit it in the car to take home !
The breakfast was amazing, pancakes the first day were so good and set us up for the day and the cooked breakfast this morning was one of the best I’ve had, the sausages were delicious and the egg perfectly cooked.
I can honestly say that I don’t think there is anyway our stay could have been made better and hopefully we will at some point return.

Always a delight to stay at this luxurious accommodation for a relaxing break. Paul and Clare are very welcoming hosts and nothing is too much trouble to ensure your stay is memorable. The breakfast selection is excellent and cooked to order and really sets you up for the day. The location at one end of Long Melford is ideal and all 7 pubs in the village are in walking distance. There are varied options to eat in the village to suit all budgets ranging from Indian restaurants to Scutchers restaurant for fine dining. Sudbury,Lavenham and Bury St Edmunds are all within a short drive and good for a visit.

We recently stayed at The Mill in Long Melford, with our friends, and would thoroughly recommend staying there.
Our rooms were exceptional, everything you could want and more.
The location of The Mill was very good as you could walk into the village, where there were several pubs and teashops as well as independent shops. Walking out the other way you could access Melford Hall in a few minutes and further on the Church.
The breakfasts, each morning were well presented and very plentiful.
Our hosts were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and places of interest to visit.
We are hoping to return again next Spring to enjoy the ambience of The Mill.

The room was really well decorated, with a big brass tub, all mod cons, and triple glazed windows. The location was perfect, 5 mins walk from the high street, and a short drive from lots of nice places. Breakfast was fantastic, and Paul was a lovely and very informative host. We will definitely go back.

We spent a very pleasant weekend at this luxury B&B. The location, next to Melford Hall, is perfect for enjoying Long Melford and near good restaurants and pubs for an evening meal. The walking in the area is also excellent.

The two rooms are both beautifully appointed and comfortable - everything that one could want was there. As often, it’s the little touches that make a stay memorable - fresh milk in the fridge rather than UHT capsules. The breakfast was splendid - all freshly cooked, generous portions and delicious

The standard of the accommodation at the Mill is first class . We stayed ( for the second time) in the Milford room which is furnished to a very high spec with tea/coffee fresh milk and water provided. The bathroom has a large walk in shower and a full range of toiletries are supplied. The main room has a large comfortable bed and there is a table with armchairs to relax in. The breakfast options cater for all tastes and are cooked fresh to order. Paul and Clare are excellent hosts very friendly and obliging. The Mill is well situated in Long Melford close to several great pub/restaurants and within easy distance of Sudbury,Lavenham and Bury St Edmunds. The Mill is an excellent choice for a relaxing visit and already planning our next trip.
