Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed one night in the Melford Room, which was very comfortable, very quiet, and very well throughout and designed. Really appreciated the fresh milk in the fridge and the local recommendations (we ate at the Hare Inn, which is a short walk away and was very nice). Breakfast was of the highest quality and we will certainly stay again if in the area but daresay we will need to book early!

Myself and my husband booked a three night stay in the Garden Room. We arrived late but Paul went out of his way to make sure we were welcomed into the most beautiful room. It was just perfect. The large room was spotlessly clean and we had everything we needed and more. The added bonus was the private garden attached to our room. Breakfast was delicious, with freshly cooked quality produce, and lots of choice. Very, very sadly we had to vacate after the first night due to devasting flooding by Storm Babet. Paul and Claire worked valiantly to protect the B&B rooms but the water came up so fast (10 minutes) that it was impossible. What an incredible couple they are! Amidst dashing around with sandbags Paul and Claire concerned themselves with our welfare advising us to go to another pub/hotel in the village and that they would reimburse us. We decided to go home because we didn't think we could top The Mill. Paul actually called us later that evening to see where we ended up. He also refunded us for the two nights we were unable to stay. I wish them so much luck in getting the B&B back on its feet, and we shall definitely book for another time. Heartbreaking

Dear Julie. Thank you so much for your heartwarming words. Yes it was a challenging night, but 4 days on, we are almost back to normal and plan to re-open in about two weeks time! The village has never seen a flood like this for a very long time, in fact the whole of the UK was impacted by storm Babet. Local councillors tell me the last time the village flooded like this was in 1989, so we are pretty confident it wont happen again anytime soon! Your review is the 199'th on TripAdvisor since we opened - we are hoping for one more 5* from our next guests to get to the magic 200! Love to see you again in the future. Paul and Clare x

This was stop three of our tour of England. Quite honestly the best stay of all of our locations stayed. Long Melford is a great little town to visit and The Mill was an amazing stay. The accommodations were great, and Paul was the consummate host. From an amazing breakfast each day to the quick repair of the TV that failed (not his fault, it was a fuse), Paul and Clare run a top notch B&B. Stay here if you can!

What a charming place the Mill is! My husband and I had a relaxing, luxurious weekend in the beautiful village of Long Melford. We enjoyed exploring the area - there was lots to see, really great meals in pubs recommended by the owner Paul and a beautiful room to come back to to relax. We booked the garden room and I would love to return in the summer when we can use it more, especially for one of Paul's delicious breakfasts!! Thanks for a great stay!

Very stylish and comfortable (The Melford Room), and spacious. Paul is a fantastic host - so warm and hospitable. His breakfasts are incredible - the stuff of legends! We have never before had such generous portions! Super-tasty too, and nothing too much trouble if you want to swap an item or 2 between menu options. The Mill makes an excellent base, as there are so many pubs/restaurants/cafes within 10 minutes' walk - everything you need from a short break! Highly recommended.

The two rooms available are beautifully appointed and kept clean and well cared for by Paul. Just about everything you may need is provided. The sound insulation is such that you cannot hear your neighbour. The rooms are individually well heated - controlled by a thermostat in each room. Choice of room is personal - both have similar facilities. Having stayed in both, The Melford Room is our preference. Breakfast is taken in the conservatory of the main house and has a menu both varied and different. You can, of course, have a "Full English". You can come and go as you please and there is off road parking free of charge. This is the third time we have stayed there.
