Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went with two motorhomes and three children. We were given a choice of pitches by the extremely helpful David. We had booked hard standing but decided on a grass area, lovely flat surface with water, electric and water waste disposal. Plenty of space for ball games with the kids. The man made beach and lake was ideal for children, paddle boarding, inflatable dingy and swimming (there is no lifeguard at your own risk). The services were kept very clean, individual toilets with wash basin and mirror, regularly cleaned throughout the day - also individual showers, which hadn't yet opened but are apparently very good, some have baths in. Golf was played on the nine hole course, tennis played, bikes ridden around the trails and dogs walked. There is a small store on site for necessities and a bar which serves food (on set days of the week) You can cycle easily (about 12 minutes by bike) using the woods (so very little on road) to an industrial park with a large M&S Food Store, Next etc., with fast food takeaways. Overall an excellent site which we will return to.

We travel extensively work or motorhome and love the region but somehow always missed this site.
It is an oasis of calm and a delight for families. A little lake to swim and use inflatables, an area for fishing... Tennis, golf, table tennis, boules, football, volleyball....
Next to the river Deben, cycle rides and ealking
The Grounds are impeccable kept....a lilltle jewel!

Having caravanned for many years but latterly with a motorhome I can honestly say this is the loveliest site I’ve been to. Booking can only be made by telephone, not online, but the lady on the phone was so lovely and helpful.
Pulled up on site and were taken to the field to chose our own pitch, at the top field. Levelling ramps are needed, as although the field looks level, looks are deceiving. Pitches were fully serviced.
The park itself is perfectly manicured. Log cabin toilet block, lovely and clean. Separate toilets, and also proper washrooms, 2 with showers, 2 with baths and toilets and basins in all.
Small shop on site, which opens a couple of hours during the day, then again at night when the bar is open.

Bar/restaurant serves lovely food, well cooked, presented and very reasonably priced. Dogs are welcomed in the lower bar area, even going to far as bringing our dog a bowl of water and treats. Quizzes on the Saturday night were entertaining.

Park is mainly made up of static caravans and lodges.

Staff really are lovely, friendly and welcoming.

Would I go here again? Without a doubt

On arrival we reported to reception and there was a really nice lady who explained the site. We were very disappointed to see that they were still enforcing facilities closures (toilets/showers) yet still charging the full site fees. We spent over £12 in toilet blue which is a cost we would not normally incur. Their sister site in Suffolk has their facilities open as normal with plenty of safety measures in place so why can’t they do that here? I put it down to a can’t be bothered attitude as other sites we have been to post lockdown have their amenities open with appropriate safety measures in place. Strange they can open the bar here though! Another down side is it is apparent a lot of ‘regulars' pitch up, meet in groups, drinking, talking extremely loudly, and singing along with loudish music. It can be quite intimidating and without appearing to be a killjoy, we come away for peace and quiet, this site isn’t that. Notwithstanding this, the site is immaculate, with rules in place (but doesn’t seem to include loud people exclusion). I give this an average rating as I took 2 stars off for the toilets/showers not open and 1 star for the noise/music. Because of that would we go back? In short NO which is a shame because there are other sites that would manage this more effectively.

Having enjoyed staying here several times before, we chose this as our ‘out of COVID-19 lockdown’ stay. As previous times we could choose where we pitched, the grounds were very tidy with the flower pots welcoming & colourful. However, peace & quiet was none existent - out of the 4 days on site, 2 of them were spent listening to the constant noise of holiday homes being jet washed & the noise of a chainsaw. Washroom facilities hadn’t been opened which didn’t bother us & we had been advised of this prior to our stay but we were still charged the full daily rate of £34/day. We felt this was very expensive without the use of facilities + the Government’s reduction of VAT was not passed on.

Overall we were very disappointed & will not be returning.

We visited the Moon and Sixpence last year and there were no facilities open because of Covid so we had to be self sufficient. I left a review to that effect and although I said I wouldn’t go back, everyone deserves a second chance.
As sites are fully open now with their facilities we did go back as the location is good. On arrival when asked are the facilities open, we were told only the toilets not the showers as 'they did not have the staff to clean them'. We were shocked to be honest because again they do not reduce site fees to reflect this. Max profit with little effort. It wouldn’t have taken much to clean the showers even to make them Covid safe, although the latter doesn’t seem to bother them either as I went into the men’s toilets adjacent to the reception and I was the only guy wearing a face mask out of four people which again was too many for the small area. No monitoring systems in place.
Our power kept tripping out if we had the kettle and hot water on so you had to juggle between the two to stop this. Their excuse was we were using more than 10 amps, nonsense, when we came last year we were on another pitch and had hot water, kettle and TV on and it never tripped. A poor show all round from this site.

My wife and I, our daughter and her partner, and there 2 children 1 aged 3 the other 4 and we were charged a rate of £120 per night YES
£120 per night.
Whilst I agree it does state on the website that children 3 or over are charged at a rate of £20 per night, I do not understand this extreme charge rate.
I was told that they had to charge this rate due to electric going up etc. but really would my granddaughter aged 3 use another £20 of electric whilst staying in our caravan ? ? ?
A cut off of 12 / 15 would be much more appropriate I think.
Even then the charge rate would be far in excess of other sites.
That said the facilities at this site are excellent, and the bar run by Simon and his family is a great place for the evening.
For a couple, this site is very good, but not a good place for families, in fact I get the impression with the charge rate they are trying to make this an adult only site by stealth.

Huge disappointment! Booked over the phone, arrived and told that we we’re not able to book for just one night, however they did let us stay. Charged £36 per night, was supposed to be £22 per person so goodness knows how families afford to come here. Absolutely nothing special about this site, mediocre food/bar Charged an arm and a leg for basically a glass of squash. Staff not particularly friendly. Lake/beach absolutely disgusting looking. People rave about the toilet and shower block, this to me is simply basic! It has a flushing loo and running water! I would not recommend this place or will I be returning.

We are new to caravanning so decided to have our first trip to the Moon & Sixpence as this is local to us and want to travel too far.

On arrival we were made to feel incredibly welcome and were given a choice of pitch, these were shown to us by a member of staff called David who went over and beyond to help, even lending us his own aqua-roll as ours hadn’t arrived and also helping us with a couple of teething problems.

It is a great site and beautifully kept and would have no hesitation in returning.

A big thumbs up for the moon & Sixpence!!

We had a very pleasant 4 night stay during some great weather in late July.

The lake is great for keeping the kids entertained if the weather is good. There is also tennis and golf available. Cycling is a bit limited on site but there are some nice trails.

We didn't try the food in the onsite restaurant because it is only available on certain days. It looked like a nice facility.

The toilet block is one of the best I've seen although the showers, at the time, were still not open. They are all individual.

We will definitely return here in 2022.
