This was our second time staying at Secret Meadows, and once again it did not disappoint! I went with a 7yo, a 5yo and a 3yo and they loved the freedom of roaming about the tent, going to the pantry by themselves to get whatever we needed, observing the chickens (you must get some for your stay! - We got three eggs!), playing on the wooden swings, and doing the short walks right out at your doorstep. The beds are extremely comfy and the duvets are very warm, the tent was spotlessly clean (and I am extremely picky!), beautifully decorated, the shower has perfect pressure with perfect hot water. If needed, you can charge your phones in the wood shed where there are plugs, though I loved being tech free for two days! We all loved setting up the fire pit, doing barbecues, roasting marshmallows and observing the stars a night. I totally recommend the experience! And if the minimum three night stay in summer is a bit pricey, do go out for a weekend in September / October when you can stay just two nights. Have fun!!

We loved reading your review, Maria, and we’re so pleased that you all enjoyed your second holiday at Secret Meadows. In our eyes, you have completely captured the essence of glamping: the stars, the outdoors, the luxuries, as well as all the little extra features. We really hope that anyone reading your review who is feeling apprehensive about trying glamping for the first time will be tempted to give it a try! We hope to see you again soon. Also, thank you for your feedback about the Luxury Lodge Tent with electricity/WIFI – just to clarify for those who haven’t stayed here before, this particular tent is near the glamping parking area and pantry shop however it is well screened, and the entrance is well away from the country lane off which we are located. Some of our returning guests do enjoy the convenient location of this tent (as well as the benefits of electricity & WIFI!) but for those who would like a more secluded area, we would encourage guests to book one of the other Luxury Lodge Tents. Thank you :-)

Starry skies, serene meadows and every bit of glee…

Such a special find - its perfect for the family!Beautiful tents, thoughtfully crafted and every little bit thought about, Secret Meadows is one of those places, we’ve vowed to return to. It’s private yet has a sense of community with the other campers and delivers on every promise. Having only gone camping thus far, it was our first time Glamping and I don’t think we’ll look back. Special mention for the chicken coop hire that made the kids’ days by picking up freshly laid eggs every morning. We also loved the well stocked pantry and wood store with their wonderful ‘honesty lists’ - a world without cctv and transactional hullabaloo!

Secret meadows is a taste of Nirvana.
This is our fourth time being here staying in the luxury tent with Hot Tub.

I can't describe the peace we feel when we sit in the Hot Tub at night staring up at the stars in silence.
During the days, my children and I cycle around the massive woods and fields visiting the cattle, the goats, pig and chickens.
We had a chicken coop outside our tent and could cuddle the hens who laid so many fresh eggs for us each day.
The tent is pure luxury with comfy beds, plenty of wood and everything we could possibly need during our stay. No need for electricity at all.
The pantry with it's honesty box is such a feel-good environment we're not used to in London. So many treats and staples stocked here.
Ross, and everyone in the background, manage the whole place beautifully.
We'll be back for sure to escape the bustle of London.

My husband and I stayed in the ‘Hobbit Box’ during August 2021 with our sons ages 7, 5.
The campsite is lovely and clean. The store is wonderful. The hobbit box is a converted horse box with adjoining shower and toilet. It’s very quirky. A cool place to stay.
But I wouldn’t recommend the hobbit box to a family of 4. It really is a squeeze. If the weather is good it shouldn’t matter too much as you basically have a field to yourself, but otherwise it’s extremely cozy!
We were also a tad disappointed to be all alone in the field. Some people would absolutely love this aspect, but we were hoping for the kids to be able to make friends with other children. This simply wasn’t the case.
All in all a well run campsite, but no community atmosphere.
Woodbridge is really lovely, as are the local towns and beaches!!

Thank you for your review and I’m really sorry that Secret Meadows didn’t meet all your expectations. It’s great to know you liked the site so much and enjoyed the Hobbit Box though, thank you! The Hobbit Box is on the small side so we recommend it for up to 2 adults with 2 young children. Your feedback about this has been helpful and we have now made this clearer on the website. Hopefully we can welcome you back here another time and if so, we’d recommend you try one of our more spacious accommodation options such as a Luxury Lodge Tent or the Two Storey Safari Tent. The Hobbit Box is our only accommodation which is in a meadow by itself, as we wanted to offer guests the option of a more secluded space. Indeed lots of our Hobbit Box guests book this accommodation for this reason, so we’re sorry that this didn’t work so well for you and your family on this occasion. We know that so many children who have stayed here have made new friends, and some families even return to stay with families they met here. There is usually lots of social interaction in the main glamping meadow, particularly during our family-only periods; we do hope you might decide to return to Secret Meadows one day and have the opportunity to enjoy sharing the experience alongside fellow glampers. Best wishes, Charlotte and Ross

The Horsebox was great, well thought out with a good kitchen and living area and two double bunks. There was a private bathroom just outside via the side door in a mini shepherds hut type building, the location was great for exploring both suffolk and norfolk by car, and well placed with quiet lanes for cycling. we stayed for 5 days and we will return.

Literally the most peaceful and relaxing weekend ever!

Myself and a group of my friends stayed for the whole weekend in the luxury tent which was arranged for my hen do surprise. It blew me away. The tent was stunning, the location even
more stunning, the amenities were incredible, there was an electric shower which I’d say worked better than my shower at home. The beds were so comfortable and warm!

We stayed in the the self heal tent which came with a fire heated hot tub, we would light the fire mid morning and by mid afternoon it was just perfect.

The other guests were so friendly and chatty.

We even spent some time with the farm animals on Sunday morning, pre arranged with the site so that we could feed the goats and chickens!

On arrival I found a card and some lovely hazelnut chocolate buttons where the secret meadows family were wishing me all the best for
the wedding, just so thoughtful!

Thank you and i hope to come back soon!

What a fabulous place to holiday with the children (or just adults). It’s a really peaceful place to stay. They have animals there that the children loved. The naughty goats on the table they had to stop and look at every morning. The lodge is kitted out to an exceptionally high standard. The kitchen is petit but equipped with absolutely every utensil you could think of. Great facilities to cook inside and out. None of us wanted to get out of bed in the mornings due to the beds being so comfy and gorgeous linen/duvets that were too snuggly to leave. The hosting was fab seeing as its a self catering place we were checked in on a couple of times to make sure we had everything we needed and all was working as it should. There’s plenty of seating inside and out and we weren’t in each others pockets.
Little swing outside was and added bonus for the children. (14 and 11 couldn’t get them off it)
Honestly can’t wait to return.

Fully equipped accommodation with everything you could possibly need and more, beautifully secluded location with fantastic views and only a few minutes from tescos if you did forget anything. The pantry on site is great, alongside the wood store. Having the chicken coops by your tent are great entertainment and is very exciting waking up to fresh eggs in the morning. The kids loved seeing all the farm animals on site and really safe for dogs to run around including a private, enclosed dog park. We will definitely come back and perfect for not only only being in big groups but private enough to have a peaceful time with just family.

We spent a long weekend at Secret Meadows with 2 children and a dog, and had a brilliant time. We stayed in a Luxury Lodge tent which is well equipped. The outdoor space is amazing for children - a swing by the tent, a farm and lots of space to run around. We hired a chicken coop for the weekend and this was the highlight for my 8 year old. The beds do have duvets but the tent got very cold at night so take warm clothing or extra sleeping bags. I also read a previous review on here that recommended bringing a head lamp, and I’m so glad we did this. We would all love to come back to this place and I have already recommended it to all my friends!

Thanks for your message. Our nearest town is Woodbridge which is a lovely riverside town about 3 miles away. There is a train station there (with taxis) with direct routes to/from London Liverpool Street. Re. activities, there are lots in the area to choose from, depending on your interests. We have shared many suggestions on our Days Out page at our website including Iken Canoe, Shawsgate Vineyard, Deben River Cruise Restaurant, Indoor/Outdoor Karting, Riding and a nearby Spa. We're close to Suffolk Coast and Heaths for Aldeburgh, Orford, Walberswick, Dunwich and Southwold. Also there are many excellent eateries in the area including in nearby Melton and Woodbridge (we have a Place to Eat page on our website too) and we offer Luxury Breakfast Hampers and Barbeque Boxes. Answer from SecretMeadows
Woodbridge, United Kingdom
Hello, Yes, there is a private loo (and shower) shed at the back of the shepherd's hut. There is a back stable door in the shepherd's hut which leads down steps directly to the loo/shower shed. You might like to see the photo of the loo/shower shed on the accommodation page for the Gypsy's Rest (shepherd's hut with gypsy caravan) at our website (also a copy of the photo on TripAdvisor).
