We got there and welcomed with a lovely smell piss...something similar to a nursing home. Needs a good clean, half eaten yoghurt pot left in wardrobe for us and found mould in water at breakfast. *Avoid

It's a comfortable old style tall, terraced hotel but a little raucous in the bar, which is also the in-house restaurant. The brown varnished doors and old brown carpet spoil otherwise pretty rooms, though the floors, doors and hinges of adjacent rooms and landings creak loudly when people are using them and this comes through into your room. I could...

Okay first off, the rooms themselves weren't bad and the bar was quite good too. The beds were comfortable and the hotel was situated in a bustling area with plenty going on. Unfortunately, this also led to the problems which caused me to have a very bad night's sleep. The walls are paper thin and somewhere around me (I couldn't...

Firstly the hotel is very clean, the 'spy' bar downstairs is really nice. The 'continental'breakfast was really nice aswell using quality food and drink etc. Now for the actual rooms.... Very dated furniture, uncomfortable bed. Worse of all are the paper thin walls where you can here everything going on either side of you. Our neighbours decided to put there tv's on...

As a regular traveller not only for pleasure but also business, this is absolutely the worst hotel that I have ever stayed. The car parking is first come first served. The staff are friendly but that is where it stops. The corridors are dire - years out of date tired and beyond just in need of decorations. The rooms get...

The Carlton Hotel is basic but rooms are very clean well equipped and tidy. It looks like they are trying to do up some of the rooms. The staff are very friendly and helpful . The spy bar is really good especially as we were there with some younger ones they do serve food although we didn't try any ....

Hotel staff were friendly & helpful, room was spacious, clean & had everything I needed. It was approx 20 minute walk from Metro station, 3 miles from Town Centre so plenty taxis & they were very affordable. Continental breakfast included in the room price, I'd have no hesitation staying here again, great hotel.

Brilliant, friendly, cheap and cheerful. I was worried after reading some poor reviews, however, i was very pleasantly surprised the room was very clean and had everything needed, a comfortable bed, en-suite, tea/coffee and complimentary snacks and juice. i will certainly return, Many thanks.

A good location is all this hotel had going for it.....check in was rushed and very unfriendly, sign here, date this, breakfast is here, dont take your key out with you as we dont have spares ( didnt like this idea as it means they could quite easily access your room ).....old and worn carpet, chipped, cracked paint everywhere, stale smell,...

If I was reviewing the staff at the hotel and the adjacent Spy bar then it would be 5 out of 5 but I'm not in reviewing the property and I have to say it isn't good, the hotel is on Osborne rd in Jesmond and is about a 15 minutes straight walk into the city, my room was on...
