While the atmosphere is typically described as clean and comfortable, some guests feel that parts of the hotel could benefit from an update. The rooms, praised for their cleanliness by many, are also noted by some as needing refurbishment and better maintenance.
While the staff generally receives accolades for their service, there are occasional remarks about service inconsistencies. Although opinions on value and noise levels vary, the hotel's amenities are deemed satisfactory by most guests.

I found the hotel quiet and very comfortable. The only sound was the announcer from the races through the open window and as I was running myself in one of the races this was motivating.Everywhere was very clean and we had no complaints at all. Sadly, staying for three nights in Newcastle over the Great North Run weekend is out of our budget so we used this hotel just for the Friday night 5K. It was much appreciated though to get such a desirable location for my better distance so that I could get to and from the start/finish line stress free. Hoping to use again in a future year.

Stayed for 3 nights over busy bank holiday weekend. Everything about this hotel has been exceptional. Staff work so hard managing both check in, bar and cooking. They were all so friendly, helpful & efficient and seemed to go above and beyond to make sure everyone’s happy. Room was spotless, well equipped with everything needed and quiet considering the location. Breakfast was all very fresh and piping hot up until last service. Car park is underneath hotel and blue badge holders have free parking otherwise £20/night. Can’t fault this hotel or staff in any way.

We stayed here for one night. I wasn’t expecting Buckingham Palace - the rooms were relatively clean and I did have a good nights sleep. There were however some issues with the room: 1. Used toilet tissue in the toilet. A quick flush sorted this but I feel this is something that is easy to check for the cleaner 2. Plug sockets not in handy places 3. Drinks tray was extremely dirty when I 4. Mug for drinks tray is too big for the coffee machines
The public areas of the hotel were clean albeit a little dated.
Breakfast has a good choice and is great value for £9.99, however the food was warm and not hot despite it being stocked regularly. The drinks machine doesn’t give you a full cup so you either had to keep getting up or try to fit two drinks in one cup and waste some.
Overall I am happy with the stay, a few things need working on though

Stayed for a couple of days after Xmas. Location wasn't far from the quayside. Check-in was seamless & parking below the hotel was £8 for 24 hours.
There was a lot of storage space & hangers, so that was a positive. You could also help yourself to coffee sachets, tea bags & milk at the reception counter.
The postives end there. Housekeeping was poor. The carpets in the corridor & room were pretty grimey.
The quilt cover has an opening at the side, so was quite annoying as it would get caught & the quilt was all scrunched up at the top for some reason.
Cups looked a bit dirty, as if they hadn't been washed.
There wasn't enough shower gel & we had to go to reception to ask for some. Staff said they would top up but didn't for a long time so we had to go down again & she said something about being on her own etc - sounds like organisation & planning by management isn't great. She finally turned up to top up the shower gel.
Shower tap doesn't have any markings, so it's hard to know which way to turn. Water was inconsistent in temperature & could be scalding hot or freezing cold. It was difficult to get a middle ground or stop the water running.
Shower curtain clung to you due to the limited space in the shower.
All in all, it was the usual Travelodge standard but worse! Good for the location, but not much else!

Booked here for one night, woken up at 2 by a drunk person who punched the fire alarm, fire Marshall exclaimed “what do you expect when you stay in this hotel” which clearly showed how much some members of staff value business and clientele. Asked to speak to the manager and was told to leave name and number and someone would phone back to discuss that day, still waiting 2 days later. When I asked regarding making a complaint about the fire alarm I was told “it’s not our fault so we can’t uphold the complaint”. For half the price you can stay at a Hilton next to central station and won’t be called scum by the nightshift staff or be woken up. Partner had heart monitor in which now can’t be removed for another week due to the amount of disruption we had that night. Staff did nothing about the loud groups of people shouting at 4 in the morning inside the halls and rooms. Pass on this location

Very dirty! Some of these issues may seem petty but once you’ve seen a few grubby areas you can’t help but notice how dirty everywhere was! Wouldn’t mind and would have overlooked this if it was a £40 room but £90 for a night this isn’t ok. We stayed back in February and had to change rooms because of the dirt, but thought we would give it another chance as the location is nice. I won’t be making this mistake again.
Cobwebs in every corner. Stained and ripped bed sheets. Miscellaneous stains on the lamp. Bulb doesn’t work. Stained carpet. Ripped shower curtain. Black hair (not ours) on the towels. Grime in the shower. Toilet smelt even when flushed. Empty hand soap dispenser.
No plug sockets on the bed side of the room.
Car park reasonable at £9 for 24 hours, right on quayside, but that’s the only positive thing I can say about the place.

I paid £40 for a family room, 1 night stay. The hotel was foung through some repairs, but this didn't affect my staying. The hotel is very well placed, 15 min walk to the highstreet, which is easy to found, just 2 minutes walk (including waiting at the traffic lights) from quayside and the lovely bridges. The hotel was clean, staff friendly, very little noise coming from outside or inside, I stayed on the 3rd floor. I also had a room with a view towards one of the brisges 😅. The facilities were satisfactory, I've never stayed in a low budget hotel before, hence I can only compare to 4,5 * hotels. But overall, I was very satisfied with the value I got for the money paid. The carpark was just round the corner, paid £8 for 24 hours. You have to pay for the wifi, £3 a day. You can have a breakfast there for less than £10. I would defined return, and spend the pennies I would have paid for a 5* hotel for some shopping or a nice meal. 😁

I know this is a budget type hotel but with a large chain you expect certain standards. The room is clean enough but cracks on the wall, cracked sink isnt a good start. wifi isnt free and £9.99 for 24hrs. Who dosnt need wifi so just add it to the room rate.
I counted 10 lightbulbs out on my way to the restaurant and 2 in a hallway making it very dark.
The food is nothing short of dire.. I literally eat anything and ordered a chicken burger. What i got was a burger bun with 2 very small pieces of breaded chicken - equal to 1 McDonald's chicken select (to give size). The staff looked exhausted and were running around trying to serve meals, take orders and pull pints. During my meal another guest noted when presented with his dinner that the potion size was tiny. The staff said it was pre portioned so assume its all microwaves or quick ovens which i assume the waitress were doing as they disappeared for a few mins at a time.
There are better hotels at similar prices in the city so i would avoid this very tired, over priced budget one.

Stayed here for 1 night for leisure purposes. Parking adjacent is close and cheap . Reception was friendly and the room was spacious and clean . There is a limited food offer and a comprehensive bar offer The room rate was £66 with Alghotels and this included buffet cooked breakfast for 2 The staff throughout this hotel were cheerful and helpful Whilst not grand the place is perfectly good and would recommend this hotel if you wish to stay in the city centre

Booked this hotel for a concert on 21/1/23 due to central location, been here before many years earlier and was not impressed but decided to give another go especially as the price was high which I thought would be a good thing.
Greeted by Alex on reception who was very polite and attentive and very friendly chatting away but this was the highlight and everything went downhill from there. The carpets in the room were stained and wet to walk on meaning myself and my wife had blue marks on our shoes, socks and even feet from walking on this, shower head was brown with built up dirt and limescale, no water pressure at all from the shower also and even more bizarre was that a hotel room in this day and age from a large chain does not have any form of temperature control in the room?
Breakfast was included and a large let down, cold mushrooms and the waitress came from the kitchen with an ice-cream tub of scrambled egg and tipped into the tray clearly straight from the microwave, bacon cooked hours earlier still in a tray also. The waitress also leaning over a counter on her phone shouting over the room to other staff about her plans was another particular delight from my trip.
Dont really complete these but a real let down and really thought I had to share.
