Immediately opposite the main train station this hotel is not only a joy to find but it's warm!!! The staff are friendly, the bar is reasonably priced, the bedrooms are small but cosy. It's a great base for town and work. It might not be 5 star but on one of the coldest days of the year it left my... More

Just got back from a night here. We travelled by car & were charged £10 extra parking when we got there for the night, which I thought was abit much after paying over £100 for our room. Our room was tiny with a small double bed, expected abit more due to the price but it is a good location. For... More

Booked last minute as we realised that this would be a lot nearer the O2 Academy! Great location near the station and city centre. Staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was clean, comfortable and warm with lovely big towels! Noisy on the front but it was a weekend in Newcastle! Would definitely recommend!

Quite a small room but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was good with a bath, shower and warm towels. The room was quite cold but a heater was provided. Breakfast was not included but it was offered at check in for an extra £10 which is quite expensive. The room has complimentary tea and coffee. Great for business trips.

I was tempted to award more stars after all the location of the hotel is great if arriving by train, there was a really friendly welcome and check in was quick and efficient - the Copthorne on the Quay could learn a lot from the County on how to manage the check in process. The hotel has character - a... More

I originally chose the hotel because I was arriving in Newcastle for one day's business by train, and it is literally across the road from the station. I had not been in the building for over 30 years, but I enjoyed the nostalgic ambience. The room was quiet, well appointed, clean etc, so full marks for what I needed. Breakfast... More

Just returned from a weekend in Newcastle at the county hotel, highly recommended!! As minutes from the station, bars, clubs and of course the shopping. Staff very attentive and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was really good and lots on offer. Special thanks to Suzanne, for making the little touches extra special, will definitely be back.

The hotel is located directly opposite the train station, excellent for anyone traveling into Newcastle by train but the noise from the station might be off putting when you're trying to sleep. Ear plugs might be needed. The hotel was very clean during my stay and the staff could not have been any nicer. Check in was fast and easy.... More

This is as central as you can get - right opposite the main train station. My room was very good. Small details would improve it though - there were cracked and loose floor tiles in the bathroom. the bed was comfy, spotless linen, wifi, nice TV, toiletries, coffee and biccies. All in all a good place to stay for the... More
