I can't explain how lovely this hotel is, more specifically how amazing Brian is. Due to some questionable advertising by the Gateshead Branch, I realised I'd booked in the hotel on the other side. Me, my wife and 3 year old son had to check into a different hotel on the Friday. On the off chance my Gateshead booking could be switched to Newcastle, I called in at 8.30 am on Saturday morning and explained to Brian that I'd already paid and the Gateshead branch of the same chain wouldn't help me and advised me to go and check availability myself as there was nothing they could do. I walked up to reception and within 15 minutes Brian had sorted it all, even checking us into to a room there and then so we could get our cases, pram etc moved into the room. It's a lovely hotel with spacious, light and airey rooms, but the best thing about the hotel, is Brian. A gentleman who could not do enough for us. My eldest lad is doing a masters in Newcastle and I go up often, I will never stay anywhere else now, purely because of Brian. Oh, the rest of the team are also wonderful.

The hotel is situated on the outskirts of the city centre, located near the Arena, not far from the central railway station, Tyne and Wear Metro station and the Life Centre. I stayed here for 2 nights.
Every single member of staff here has been friendly, approachable and went out of their way to ensure that my stay has been safe, enjoyable and as comfortable as possible. All safety precautions were in place, with hand sanitiser abailable at key points, safety screens on reception and face covering worn by all staff and guests ( with exception of those who are medically exempt)
The room was clean, airy and had everything I needed for my stay. The large kingsize bed was so comfortable with 4 pillows, so I could mix and match to get the most comfortable combination for myself.
Due to the current covid restrictions, the food menu has had to be cut back, but there was a good choice available. Breakfast, consisted of a bag of fresh and tasty goodies, left outside my room door by the “ breakfast fairies” ( they were so quiet )early in the morning with a delicious hot bacon/sausage bap available to collect ( ordered the day before) from reception. Evening meals were available in either the bar, to collect, or for a £6 tray charge delivered by room service. I opted to sit in the beautifully decorated bar on my first night ( steak and ale pie with mashed potatoes and side of veg, followed by chocolate brownie), but treat myself to room service on my second night ( haddock and chips with mush peas and tarter sauce ) On both occasions my meals were well cooked, safely and beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Portion sizes were substantial.
I was lucky enough to wake up early and witness the sunrise from the 7th floor.... so beautiful! Downsides.... there is slight road noise, but being in a city location it is to be expected. All in all a really good stay.

Used a voucher for an overnight stay in a premier room with Prosecco & a continental breakfast, we couldn’t use on line check in as we were allowed early check in which wasn’t an option & it was requesting a payment which we’d already made when purchasing the voucher.

Warmly greeted by a lovely young lady on reception, made us feel very welcome & handed us our water & biscuits etc in a paper bag, plenty of sanitiser in the foyer/reception asked about our plans and made sure we were allocated a room high up which was quieter, the room was 705 & very clean, impressed by the standards, the area around was very quiet not much traffic or footfall at all. We parked opposite the Kia garage adjacent to the arena which was £7 for 24 hours & is not included in any deal.

When we left the room on Sun morning our continental breakfast was waiting at the door for us in bags, we were disturbed around 2 am, it sounded like someone hitting a mug with a spoon & lasted several minutes, unsure how this was possible as there were only paper cups in the rooms!

That aside it was a really nice stay & excellent value for money.

Very good stay, stayed here before and it was far too warm. But it seems to be improved, food in bar / restaurant is really nice and you can have the same menu in room service during restaurant hours. Would highly recommend the chicken skewers with baked avocado on a bed of vegetable ragout - amazing dish! Room service when I had it arrived within 20 mins which is just as you want it, and unlike other hotels the tray was gone from outside my room by the following morning! Great stay for business

I booked a superior triple room which as advertised on their website check-in is 12pm. On arrival at 2pm we were advised by Julie (receptionist) that a room was available. When I asked if this was the superior room that I had booked was advised that there were no superior rooms ready. We then asked what the difference was between both rooms, only for Julie to get close to my friends face and say there were no rooms available at all and she never said there was!
We decided to leave our bags and venture out for a drink until 3pm which was stanard check-in time. Prior to returning to the hotel I phoned ahead to see if our room was available. I was advised it was. By now it was 3:55pm.
On arrival at the hotel, Julie looked horrified that we had arrived back so quickly. Our room was still not available, despite having been told that it was.
When I mentioned that it wasn't satisfactory as I had booked a room with availability from midday, Julie simply said "we've been busy and I should've finished now!"
We eventually got to our room for 3, but there was only cups, glasses and towels for 2 guests. I found a housekeeper in the coridoor cleaning one of the other rooms. I asked if I could have additional glasses, cups and towels, but was advised I couldn't and would need to contact reception!
Despite having booked the superior room, Julie chose not to give us our bottled water and cookies, or our Costa vouchers or 10% food and beverage discount voucher....perhaps because "she should've finished!"
On our return from a concert at The Arena, we requsted our Costa, which is when we were advised that we should have received this at check-in.
Thank goodness for Duty Manager Jade who at least was pleasant.
Additionally, I'm not convinced as to why the room was classified as superior as the bathroom floor was not clean and the and the chair stained.
Manageng really need to invest in some customer care training for frontline staff, as one extremely rude member of staff has put me off returning despite the convenient location for The Arena.
I most certainly would not recommend.

From the outside this appears to be a very nicely presented business hotel. Inside, though, it's chock full of people noisily getting ready for nights out on the town. The corridors are full of people who are glammed up and very drunk (we saw people unable to stand up as early as 7pm).

The smoking area outside seemed to be a place where (very drunk) people were convincing each other that "she's not worth it" or flat out having arguments.

There's one vegan option on the menu (chilli noodles) but as the restaurant wasn't serving a full menu on a Friday night apparently that was moot. We weren't warned by reception that the restaurant was partly out of action. The food we did receive was of a particularly low standard, especially for the price. The promised "discount for food and drink" was refused by staff because we hadn't requested (or been offered) the correct type of discount card.

The noise continued through the night, with crowds of drunken guests stumbling in and out until at least 4am. This was in addition to the arguments going on outside in the courtyard. There's no aircon, so closing the window wasn't really an option.

The rooms are fine, but them being disabled access makes it a little awkward to have to bend down to use sinks etc and the bath was basically a deep shower tray.

All in all a very disappointing stay. Not "bad", but nothing like the ads/website would make it appear. As long as you go in knowing it won't be any better than an IBIS or Travelodge you'll be fine

The hotel is not of a 4 star standard. Overall it all looks a bit tired and needs modernising and a bit of tlc. The bathroom has a shower curtain, the loo seat slipped and the drain gurgled long after the tap had been turned off. The pillows are to big/deep to ensure a good nights sleep without waking with neck ache, although the mattress was comfortable. The car park was full for the 48 hrs we stayed so we had to find alternative parking.
The good points: the staff were helpful. The location is great for getting across the river into Newcastle.
In response to the coronavirus the hotel has hand sanitiser in the reception area, but could place some on the table in front of the lift, so that this can be used prior to and after pressing the lift button. There were some anti- bac wipes on the reception counter and a few of these in each room would mean guests could wipe down the remote control, hair dryer handle, light switches and door handle. We asked for housekeeping not to visit our room during our 48 hr stay and put the sign on the door outside, but this was ignored. The redeeming factor for the hotel is its staff and location.

On arrival to the room the door proudly displayed a door hanger "Bedroom Cleaned and Sanitised for your protection" well that was a joke.
Congealed blood or food smeared across the window, stained bedding and what looked like blood stains on the back of the bathroom door.
Room was not serviced.
Breakfast was charged at £11 for a 4 item bag dropped to your room, an absolute rip off.
Communication was very poor
I won't be returning and suggest you find an alternative if you expect the very basics in cleanliness

I decided to stay at the Jurys inn as it was really close to the Utilita Arena. There are two car parks near the hotel, both have discounts if you are staying at the hotel. My husband I parked our car at the Arena Square Car Park, which was really near the hotel, we paid £14 for 2 nights.
The hotel is in a great location, very close to the city centre, didn't use the car at all as everything was very close to the hotel.
The hotel staff are friendly and kind, always willing to help and with a smile on their faces.
The hotel itself is nice, but I think it is a bit old and could do with some renovations.
The bedroom was big, the bed was very comfortable, we could see the arena from our window. The bedroom was clean, the tv worked fine, the kettle was very dirty though, I think they could change them once they get too old.
The bathroom was also very big, the shower was very powerful, the bathroom was clean but not extremely clean, the bin in the bathroom was broken and the toilet was not flushing very well but figured out how to use it.
We had a good time, I would go back to this hotel if we had to go back to Newcastle, however it would be nice if they renovated the bathrooms.

Booked a superior room literally 2 hours before arriving based on it being cheaper than taxis to and from Sunderland. It was well worth doing the superior room as you received vouchers for a free drink in the bar per guest as well as free costa coffee in addition to early check in (12pm) and late check out (2pm).

The hotel is in a good location for the city centre with parking costing £7 for 24 hours just round the corner. The staff were very professional and friendly, the room was spacious and clean with a very comfy bed. My only criticism is that the room didn’t have air conditioning.

Really pleased we stayed here and definitely plan on staying again as it was so good.
