Very good location for the City centre.
Parking excellent next to the hotel.
Staying for 4 nights at the Crowne Plaza Newcastle, the last 2 nights we have been in the club lounge, the server Sally has been excellent, very professional and friendly, always ensuring that we had our drinks replenished when we had finished, food was very good, good selection of food. 2 hot choices and also salad an sandwiches
And a selection of fruit and desert items
One of the best Crowne Plaza club lounges we have been in. Looking forward to our next 2 nights here in Newcastle, we will definitely return

Booked the Crown Plaza last minute alternative as most hotels in the South of England were booked or just too expensive. Stayed bed and breakfast and our room was excellent for the price that we paid, with a large super king bed and lovely bathroom.Reception staff could not do enough for you and also gave us some great restaurant recommendations. Restaurant and bar staff were also friendly and very attentive. The hotel is very Covid Safe with table service for breakfast and for drinks in the hotel bar using QR codes to order breakfast and drinks. The hotel is adjacent to the train station but is only a few minutes walk to the bars, restaurants and shops. We stayed just before the 10pm curfew came into effect but we honestly felt very safe in the restaurants and bars that we visited.

My partner and I stayed for the August bank holiday weekend. The staff were polite and welcoming. The room was sanitised for our arrival and we provided a time slot for when the room would be available for sanitising on the second day of our stay.

The location is great for a quite night for a good nights sleep without the hustle and bustle of busy city life, whilst also being a convenient location to walk into the city for food and drinks.

Unfortunately due to the current pandemic, the pool & gym facilities were closed.

Over all, it was a lovely stay and we will be returning.

Although I have stayed at this hotel many times and been more than satisfied with my visits e.g. comfortable rooms, good breakfast, great bar, convenient location I have not before written a review. I should have done as the one I now reluctantly do is in the “can do much better” category. I have just spent the last four nights here, excluding the weekend, i.e. Wednesday and Thursday and Sunday and Monday. I noted that on the first two nights, although I think there were ten beer pumps at the bar only Stella and Magners were ‘on’, the other pumps having glasses over them. By Monday evening the Stella was off as well, no draught beer whatsoever, and when I asked for a well-known bottled beer I was told it “isn’t stocked”. I also noted that at 10 p.m. prompt the piped music was stopped and the lights turned on to full brightness, a clear invitation to leave the bar. At breakfast on the first week fresh jugs of milk and bananas were available with the option of UHT milk in the fridge. By the second week no fresh milk and no bananas. The total fruit offering was an apple. When I raised the issues with a very pleasant member of staff she said she’d ask the duty manager to speak to me. I have to say Mark, for that was the duty manager’s name, approached my concerns with defensiveness and one lame excuse after another, refusing to accept that the hotel were to blame in any way. On my concerns about the beer he said that because of the reduced number of guest only Stella and Magners are ordered and in limited quantities. He stated that deliveries are on a Friday and said “we must have had a busy weekend if we’ve run out of beer already”. It was clear that he’d no idea wether the hotel was busy or not at the weekend but more importantly showed no concern that a hotel that holds itself out to have a bar would have no draught beer for the rest of the week. He simply said that they don’t order too much as it would “go off”. As far as bananas are concerned he blamed the supplier, stating that if they don’t get the supply they won’t have the bananas. I pointed out that every supermarket and corner shop seem to have no problem with supplies of fruit. Not getting the point at all he said that they’d no cash to buy bananas from a shop. Mark’s main aim during our conversation was to offer me some sort of compensation but without trying in any way to rectify the issues. I did not and do not want compensation. I simply want a minimum level of service provided by what is a rather expensive premium hotel. I gained the strong impression that he was nowhere near acknowledging that the hotel could do better. When I’m away from home for work I expect a certain level of comfort. In other hotels I’ve been to recently I’ve had no issues, but it seems to me that this Crowne Plaza is cutting services to the bone whilst at the same time maintaining their room prices at their usual level. This is simply not good enough. Covid has put a strain on much of the leisure sector but we as consumers must be careful not to accept that the virus is used as an excuse for poor standards.

Dear vincemcdade Many thanks for our review of the hotel and your comments, we are still in a learning process at the hotel and gaining knowledge each day to improve guest satisfaction during these challenging times. Sometimes we do get it wrong in terms of our procurement and it seems on this occasion we did, however the team have learnt now from the volumes from the weekend and will be now be placing larger orders to ensure this doesn't happen again. You can see from the other reviews during covid-19 that the team have got it right most times I can only apologize about these and rectify them on your next visit please feel free to contact me on my e-mail paul.borg@interstatehotels.com

Stayed in junior suite, spacious, clean, very comfortable bed, quiet and access to club lounge. Staff are friendly and helpful, but reception does look understaffed. Club lounge provides drinks and nibbles but drinks are limited and ran out of crisps and Pepsi. Kath was the host and her customer care skills are fantastic, very friendly and gave great advice on the city centre, where to go what to see. Unfortunately the bar closed at 11 pm and and if you wanted a drink you had to use an app and also pay a tray charge. Some amenities were “on demand” being withdrawn under COVID restrictions but seemed more cost cutting, no robe and slippers unless requested, but if someone is in your room cleaning , what difference would leaving a robe and disposable slippers make. Also have to request your room to be cleaned, but as no masks being worn and no sanitisers in public areas, letting housekeeping in to clean rooms isn’t really a greater risk. Perhaps it should be other way around, tell reception you don’t want your room cleaned. I would recommend this hotel and would go back mostly due to staff (particularly Kath) and location but they do need to review staffing levels and provide all amenities expected

This is the first time we went to Newcastle and we thought this hotel looked wonderful, so we decided to book a stay! Once we arrived we had a friendly welcome from the staff at the front desk (overall all the staff were super friendly and helpful). We had 3 rooms, one king sized bedroom and two queen sized bedrooms. The rooms and bathrooms looked very modern and we found them to be spacious and very clean! The beds were also super comfy and had plenty of pillows to you’re liking. The room was equipped with an ironing board, safe, mini fridge with water, medium sized tv and a kettle that came with refreshments. They had a variety of tea bags/coffee/sugar, and was accompanied with some shortbread biscuits! Later in the evening we decided to try out the Gin Bar inside the hotel (which opened at 5pm), the bar had a range of drinks consisting of beer, soft drinks, cocktails and of course lots of gin! Obviously being a gin bar, they had a huge variation of flavoured gin, we tried the raspberry and grapefruit which tasted amazing. Furthermore, in the morning we woke up early and had breakfast (which opened at 7:30am) and had a good old English breakfast as well as some pastries with tea and coffee, under the circumstances of covid-19 restrictions the meal was about average. We found that the hotel dealt with the covid-19 restrictions very well, they provided hand sanitisers throughout the building, as well as having the 2 meter marking restrictions on the floor, as well everyone wearing a mask outside of their room. For the questions about the gym and pool, you have to book a time if you want to use their gym room, however due to covid-19, the pool and spa still remain closed. Overall, we thought our stay was very pleasant and like to thank the hotel and the staff for having us.

This is a busy hotel in a good location. We had a quiet room - 617 - but I think other parts of the hotel are too close to the train station to be very peaceful. Breakfast was fairly typical although fruit salad is always better when items are offered separately rather than all mixed together. Breakfast gets busy after about 8.30am so if you can go about 8 then it should be quiet.

We didn’t eat or drink in the bar/restaurant but know that they are often booked out if there is an event/wedding so might be better to head into Newcastle where there are loads of places to choose from.

As you will see from previous reviews, there are issues with rooms not being serviced by housekeeping. If you want your room to be cleaned you are asked to notify reception the night before and also let them know what time you will be leaving the room. We did so and were then out for 8 hours only to return to find that the room hadn’t been serviced. To avoid this I would recommend that you remind them both the night before and the following morning. I even spoke directly to the housekeeper who was on our floor to check that she had our room listed on the schedule. We were there for several days and only wanted one service so this seemed like a lot of effort.

Parking is discounted to £10 per day and if you go up to Level 10 this is on the same floor as the hotel reception so is very convenient.

There are quite a few negative reviews in the last few weeks but we had no other issues than the one stated. Fiona was helpful and friendly when we checked in.

The hotel in itself is lovely, beautiful decor, very clean and very pleasant staff. Easy and efficient check in and the car park next door means not very far to walk with your bags. About a 10minute walk from behind central station to the nearest bars and restaurants, although couldnt fault the Gin Bar in the hotel.
We stayed saturday to monday and there was a function on downstairs, our room was on the first floor and you could hear the music but it wasnt too disturbing. Great selection of toiletries in the bathroom and I loved that there was a separate bath and shower! My only fault was that the bed although large and spacious was 2 single mattresses pushed together on a large base. Every time we moved the mattresses moved apart and the Grand Canyon was between us! The mattresses and the pillows were also very uncomfortable so I barely slept for the 2 nights we were there. I would come back to this hotel because of the location but the bed situation has definitely put me off.

This was our first family trip to Newcastle and the Crowne Plaza and it didn’t disappoint. The hotel is in a great location, right next to the train station and a short walk into the city.
Car park nearby (Stephensons Quarter -level 10) is £12 for 24 hours which is cheap for a city.
We are in unprecedented times with COVID-19 and the staff are doing a fantastic job in making guests feel safe and welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. All the staff we came into contact with were professional and friendly. The hotel was spotlessly clean with hand sanitisers around the hotel and QR code menu at breakfast. At breakfast the tables were well spaced out and breakfast was served table service so lovely and fresh.
We were in a suite hotel room which was huge for the 3 of us, a great balcony looking over the Tyne bridge. Overall I great family break to see the sites of Newcastle. Thank you Crowne Plaza Newcastle.

Check in is supposed to be 2pm. We didn't get a room 'til 5pm. Others waited even longer. Only offer of recompense was a glass of warm apple juice. Same story on subsequent days as we passed through reception, slightly disgruntled looking people sat there with their cases. Really poor.

Reason given by the hotel for the delays and the chaotic scenes in reception was lack of housekeeping staff due to a number of them being 'pinged'. The 'pingdemic' may have been a factor but very poor organisation by the hotel didn't help either.

We were told at check in (and given a handout confirming this) that full housekeeping would take place every day as normal. Why, we wondered? Other hotels we've visited recently have adopted a sensible policy of deep cleaning your room before arrival then leaving you alone during your stay, only servicing the room if you request it and/or supplying any items you need without entering your room. That would have been fine with us.

As it turned out, we didn't get the room serviced everyday anyway despite the hotel saying this would happen .
Day 1 no housekeeping.
Day 2 housekeeper knocked on door a.m. asking if we wanted towels changed. We did. When we got back that afternoon the room had been sort of half-serviced as well. Cups washed, even more towels left....but no items replenished (tea bags etc) Then later, a housekeeper let herself into room.
We're not bothered about covid. But if you are, you might ask yourself what's the point of 'sanitising' rooms before arrival if staff are then in and out of them like that?
Day 3 no housekeeping.

We thought about having breakfast at the hotel one morning but thought again when we saw the very long queue. There are plenty option nearby.

Otherwise, the facilities are like you'd expect and the same as any Crowne Plaza and the location is great very close to Central Station.
