Stayed here for 3 nights room 431 .
Used the discounted 24 hour car park which was about an 8 minute walk away - centre and quayside about the same distance .
The breakfast was hot fresh and tasty and all areas were super clean -no plates of food hanging around . Well done to the Breakfast staff. Reception staff helpful and friendly .
Room was slightly tired but no complaints other than the housekeeping was under par one day .
Have used the Hampton brand before and will certainly stay again.

Thanks for a lovely stay

The hotel is in a good spot opposite Newcastle-upon-Tyne train station, perfect location for the conference venue that I was attending nearby (Crowne Plaza)

Reception were quick and friendly during check in and my bedroom was clean, modern, well appointed and functional.

The room rate included a basic hot/cold breakfast which was perfectly nice and set me up for a busy day at conference.

I was impressed with my first stay at a Hampton by Hilton Hotel and would consider them again.

Honestly can't fault the Hampton by Hilton for staying during this pandemic. All the staff were so happy to help, always put a smile on mine and my husband's face, breakfast included was made possible due to their ingenuity and the room was sealed after cleaning so I knew everything was taken care of.
Considering that it was one of the cheaper options for my dates, it couldn't have felt more luxurious.
Only downside is that it's not close to parking so at a weekend, that means you do have to walk past all the party goers in Newcastle. But that doesn't outweigh the excellent experience I had.
Will go back for sure!

With Hampton Inn, you know what your getting anywhere in the world and the Newcastle property does not disappoint, situated slap bang in the city opposite central station. Stayed here with a friend last Saturday in Nov in order to attend a nearby work function. Having flew up from London had quite a stressful journey from the airport to the city as the Metro was shut down due to the storm a day earlier, but arrived on a snowy Saturday afternoon just in time to shower and change for an evening event.
Being a Saturday night, rates were through the roof so i saved over £150 by redeeming HH points. Appreciated the upgrade to a spacious corner room on 7th floor that has both a double bed and sofa bed. Unfortunately the room was really cold when we arrived. To be fair it was probably the coldest day of the year but I would have thought they would ensured heating was on well before a guests arrival. It was however rectified by reception when we brought it to their attention as room was much warmer when we came rolling it at 2:00am, so much so that we both still done the alpha male thing and slept topless! Slept very well, no external or internal noise which is great for a city centre hotel on a Saturday night
Breakfast on A Sunday is served until 11:00am , we went down at 10:30am and were pleased to see that the buffet breakfast is back as we start and come out of covid. Although breakfast was busy , plenty of choice from hot and cold selection. coffees and juices are self service. All in all, a great stay

Good Afternoon 967garethf, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay however we are sorry to hear that you room was cold upon check in. All our rooms are set as a minimum of 18 degrees and do warm up quite quickly. It was certainly a very cold day when you checked in however all rooms are triple glazed so once heating turned up there is not a huge amount of heat lost. We are pleased to hear that you you enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and found it to be varied and plentiful. We do hope that you will stay here at Hampton by Hilton the next time you visit Newcastle. Kind Regards Samantha Evans

This hotel is literally across the road from the train station and is in an amazing location for shops, restaurants and bars which are all a short walk away. The hotels entrance is round the side and easily missed as we walked around for a couple of minutes before we found it. The lady at reception during check in was so chatty and seemed to genuinely take an interest in what we were doing that day, even suggesting some places for dinner that evening. We were allocated a room on the second floor which was ideal. The room was spacious and clean, although some short, dark hairs were found on the bed. The bed was comfortable and the room offered all amenities for a one night stay. The room was quiet apart from the noise of the corridor door slamming sometimes throughout the late evening - we just happened to be close to this door. Breakfast was super, there was an amazing choice, especially the make your own waffles station which I have never seen in any other hotel!
Overall we had a fab stay and I would definitely stay there again.

We recently spent one night at this hotel on the way up to Aberdeen. It is located across from Newcastle station, excellent if you are arriving or departing by train.
The reception staff were pleasant and professional, and stored our luggage for us because we arrived too early to check into our room.
We had a room on the third floor, it was a good sized room with a shower room (no bath but that wasn't a problem).
Although it was a city centre location we had no problem with noise in the night.
The breakfast was a hot and cold buffet, nice to see the return of buffet breakfasts again!
I would definitely stay in this hotel again. The price was good (they take a £50 deposit off your card when you check in but that is refunded when you check out), the location was good.

Another great stay. On arrival it was clear we needed to take the lift to the second floor to reception (although I had read this in a previous review). The reception staff were lovely and helpful at check in - a deposit did need to be paid which I was unaware of. They checked we had breakfast reservations as well. There is only one lift working for visitors.

On entering our room it felt clean and sanitised which it mostly had been. Only the top of the head board had a layer of dust. Which I cleaned myself with the alcohol wipes left in the room. The staff were very accommodating to our needs, my daughter discovered the sofa was actually a bed and decided she would rather sleep on that, so we requested extra bedding which was promptly delivered. I then discovered the pillows were feather pillows which I have an allergy too, so made another request for non feather pillows which were also delivered promptly.

The reception staff were very helpful with directions and a map of the local area.

The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked. The shower head would be the only downfall in the shower as I prefer something more powerful, but it was fully functional and did the job.

Having read reviews about breakfast I was a little apprehensive. I had forewarned that I was GF and this wasn’t a problem at all. The breakfast spread I thought was pretty good. There were juices, hot drinks and water, regular milk and soya milk was in the fridge. Cereal choices, porridge, cheeses, sliced meat, fruit salad, fresh fruit, pastries, waffles, yoghurts, bread(regular and GF) rolls, hot breakfast - egg, bacon, sausage, beans, toms. If you can’t find something to eat in all that then I’m not sure what is classed a breakfast! You can also eat the breakfast in the restaurant or get a takeaway breakfast hot and cold.

Check out was simple and easy

I’ve stayed at this hotel every time I’m in town. I’ve always liked my stay but this time I’m somewhat disappointed. On the first night I arrived and had to check in at front reception which in the past I’ve just done all the booking via the Hilton app and didn’t need to go to the reception so I was taken back by this . I got into my room and was delighted by the room and the coming days ahead one of my fans were visiting me and met me outside of the hotel as he wanted to drop off his bag I was told by the security guards who stands on the door from after 6pm that I would have to check the other person in as I’ve only booked for one person . I told the guard he’s only dropping off his bag and isn’t staying so he told me it’s the new rules and you had to have id for the second person so I made my way to front reception were my guest brought out his id and the woman at front reception explain why they do this . In the past I’ve always brought people up to my room without any fuss and it was only three months ago when I last stayed and had many people over so I’m pretty confused about that . My guest which I don’t know has autism and felt very upset and uncomfortable by this situation which we left quickly to enjoy the night out .

I didn’t sleep well that night as the people next door to me was having a party , laughing, shouting , banging doors and talking all night they didn’t stop till 5am . Once I return from a wonderful day out the party next door started again all afternoon it went on till . I had to call reception at 11pm to get the lads next door to stop. Someone from reception kindly told the guys to stop but seems like the gang kept on having fun till 3am . I understand people want to have a good time but a little bit of respect goes a long way and this is one of the main reasons why I booked Hilton’s on my stay to avoid people like that and as I pay a lot more money than the cheaper hotel I expect not to face problem like that . I just don’t feel welcome anymore at this hotel with the many problems I faced over the few months.

Keifer l Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review of your most recent stay with us. I am sorry to hear of the issue you have encountered regarding the guests staying in the neighbouring rooms. We do hope that other guests do show courtesy and keep noise to a minimum as to not disturb other guests especially the early hours of the morning. Our nights team do monitor the corridors during the night to ensure that other guests are keeping the noise down. Unfortunately the staff cannot be on the corridors all night and we would advise that if the noise continued to give another call down. Fire regulations of the building means we do need to know who we have in the hotel in the event of an emergency regardless of the amount if time spent in the hotel and on this occasion both the security and the staff were following procedure, during the digital check in it is accepted the terms and conditions of any additional guests to be checked in online and this would have alleviated the need to visit reception to register the second person. We do hope to welcome you back to the Hampton by Hilton the next time you visit Newcastle. Kind Regards Sam Evans Guest Service Manager

I brought my sons on an Easter Holiday treat. We checked in at around 3.45pm having booked the room a few hours before.

The room itself seemed large and airy and being on the corner of the hotel had massive windows which were great with views of the central station.

However the sofa bed hadn’t been made up and on inspection of the double bed there were several long brown and short brown hairs clearly visible
When the duvet was pulled back.

I was informed that setting up sofa beds doesn’t happen if the room has been booked the same day as they “don’t get that information” - seems to be quite the failure in customer service.

I called reception and spoke to someone who made me feel like I was lying about the hairs. She just said “ok well we will get someone up to make up the sofa bed” with no acknowledgment of the lack of hygiene with sheets which had potentially not been changed.

I then found the room safe was locked.

All these things are unacceptable for a Hilton stay in my opinion.

I then called to ask to speak to a manager and while he was pleasant, I had to specifically ask for the bed to be changed.

This meant we had to stay in the room until this was done and the room safe was fixed as I wanted to me sure the bed was changed.

I asked the manager for some form of compensation for my sons who were now stuck in the room and unable to explore Newcastle.
Having asked, we were furnished with some crisps and juice which was appreciated - However having to ask is pretty poor. I was also told I would be compensated with Hilton honors points which is fine but they’re pretty worthless unless you have several tens of thousands of them.

Also worth noting and worth a full electrical review as none of the plugs fully took any plugs I attempted to place. (See photo attached) this surely is a massive safety issue.

If the room hadn’t been so so well situated I would have asked for a change of room.

I also found what looked like blood stains in the bathroom (see photo) which is the second such time I’ve found this in the Hilton - really makes me question staying there again.

I’m sure they won’t lose any sleep over my loss of custom but it’s worth having a good look at your soon before you settle into it.

We stayed three nights and found the hotel good value for an unpretentious budget stay centrally. It was very convenient for us, given we arrived by train and were using the Metro quite often. Our room was reasonably large, clean, serviced daily (despite a sticker in the bathroom which said it would be serviced on request). It had a comfortable bed and nice bathroom with a good shower. The door to the bathroom is annoyingly also the sliding door to the wardrobe, and is slightly see through! Views over Newcastle were good. Breakfast was OK - not 5* quality and choice but OK. Coffee was not great. There are no opening windows, which is a pity as air con is always a bit sterile, but understandable given the location. The room had a safe which was handy, but no fridge. The decor in the reception, bar and breakfast room is very low budget corporate, and though they were playing Christmas music there was no tree or decorations, which would have been nice. The staff we met were friendly. There was only minimal noise from the street, given the double glazing, and being on 7th floor - though there was some noise from other guests in the corridor. Only one lift was working most of the time, which wasn't too much of problem given it wasn't that busy, but could have been.

Good Afternoon Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review. We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay on the whole and found the location convenient and central to all amenities. We are also happy to hear that the complimentary breakfast was adequate and we take on board your feedback regarding the coffee. Since your review we have adorned the guest areas in some festive decorations including a tree. We are also in the process of having the second lift serviced and back in operation however we are currently waiting on a part from Germany and due to ongoing national logistical issues there is a delay on receiving this. We do hope that you will consider staying here at Hampton by Hilton the next time you visit Newcastle.

I see different reviews re the covid era breakfast.. has anyone tried it? Ie is it just a grab bag?
Answer from Michelle T
Hi Kenny The Breakfast offering is a continental offering, with additional hot options of porridge or a sausage sandwich. There are vegetarian options also available on request. The hotel is working within the ever changing government restrictions, and guests are currently able to choose table service breakfast in our dining area, or select the Grab and Go bag instead. Guests are advised of the latest operating procedures upon check in at the hotel. Of course if there are specific queries - please do call the hotel in advance and the team will endeavour to address your concerns. Thanks Michelle
