Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not entirely sure about some of the other reviews as our experience of staying at the Baraset, was exceptional in all ways. The hotel has been furnished to a very high standard, also using high quality fixtures and fittings. The room was very clean and was spacious. We used the restaurant for breakfast twice, receiving exceptional service and food quality. We also had dinner in the restaurant. The menu is large enough to cover most food tastes. The food was cooked perfectly and presented well. Our experience of the staff in all areas was exemplary, They were polite, efficient and bent over backwards to make our stay and restaurant service wonderful. Ordinarily it would be wrong to pick out specific members of staff for praise but the general manager (Maggie) and the lady covering breakfast and reception on Sunday 31st March went above and beyond. Well done Baraset!

Hi Everyone I really would like to warn you about this place and How bad it is, I do agree first of all when you drive into the place its so nice and the grounds are lovely also the rooms at the hotel are so clean, However I cannot say the Same about the staff and Especially the Manager ( Maggie). I have came away feeling so low and horrible in myself I cant explain to you. We Stayed at this hotel for around 11 weeks and spent in reach of nearly £15,000 with them the reason we stayed there for so long is because the bed was extremely big and because I am a big guy for the time we was there the bed was a lot better than any other hotels with size and that is the only reason we stayed for so long. So please let me explain my points here and you will be able to understand why my confidence is so low. 1, I am a person what currently has to wear joggers and tracksuits this is because of comfort and also because i have an illness and awaiting for an operation I can only wear these clothes, - However because of this I was not able to go and eat breakfast in the morning as I was advised I am not suited and I look like an homeless person, I have nothing against homeless people but I personally feel if that was the case I would most certainly not be able to afford £15,000 to stay there. 2, I was advised by another member of staff because you have stayed here so long I will do a special rate for you, and I will extend the room key for you for 3 days and pay then because I trust you, For then the next day to try our door and didnt work I went over to reception to be advised I am sorry I cant do any discount for you and I cant extend the Card for you as I have been advised not too and his words was ( I trust you but others dont). I was completley taken back by this and felt so little and worthless I would never run away from any hotel so I do not understand why they would treat me this way. 3, The Final straw for me was I went over to the restaurant to order a drink they said stay there do not come through here stay there and I will bring the drink over to you. I am totally aware that people wear suites in the restaurant But I am a paying guest who should be treated no different to how they are treated. I was then advised By Sally the Assistant Manager that people take the mick come here with cheap birthday cakes from marks and spencers and ask for cream because they dont want us to prepare it as they are cheap and cant afford so dont come here in the first place. I am very sorry Sally but Again not everyone are Multi Millionaires but still like to come along to your restaurant. I have been to many places Like Maldives Dubai a lot of places and I have never ever been treated in this way they turn there nose up to you and think they are so much better than anyone else. Its completley disgusting how they are and its now made me go home and stay at home because what they have done to me I now feel everyone judges me just like they have judged me its completley wrong. Lastly I have raised the complaint with Paul Salisbury and fair enough he gave me a call to say I am in the wrong and he understands why his staff have treated me the way they have. He then advised I am most sure you wont be back again thank you for the £15,000 but I wont be doing anything for you ok and put the phone down. I am sorry everyone but a company owner should not act in this way. Thank you for taking the time out to read this but please do not stay here and go here they will put you down and make you feel so unwelcome please go elsewhere...

I dropped by at 8.30 am on Friday morning with the intention of having a coffee, a look at the restaurant menu, and then booking a dinner for a big family celebration the following week. Although the cafe was open and coffee was being served to about 6 or 7 hotel guests, the staff refused to serve me a coffee. I asked why and they said they were only open for hotel guests. What terrible, short sighted PR this is. Serving a flat white while I looked at the menu for our dinner would have garunteed over 500 pounds in their till the following week when 10 family members would have had 3 courses, wine, and champagne. Instead I booked elsewhere and spread the message among friends to do the same. Provincial UK attitude to service at its very worst.

We were warmly greeted and shown to our room which was absolutely stunning. Every aspect has been well designed and thought out to make for a wonderful experience. We ate breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and both were fanastic. Great staff, quality ingredients, interesting menu and wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Held our wedding reception at the Baraset and what can I say other than amazing. From the location to the staff - ably mustered by Maggie - the whole experience was just perfect. Food was brilliant and cantered to all tastes and many had food envy from around the group. Wine selected by the wonderful Sebastian fitted the mood perfectly. Even the weather played its part to allow us use of the glorious outdoor facilities. Will be back for many anniversaries to come. Highly recommended from a meal to a stay at the lovely adjoining hotel.

Booked in advance through Booking.com, we were looking forward to our weekend away. Before going into the main center we though we would pop into the Hotel to see if we could grab a cup of coffee or a light breakfast. We mentioned to the person behind the reception desk that we were booked in for the night, and was immediately informed that we were not resident and you can't have breakfast! I mentioned that we were booked in for the evening, and he went off (but also told us he was the chef) and asked one of the servers. We were then told a flat No. Breakfast had just and again we weren't resident! Really unhelpful! To my dissatisfaction I still went to show the wife the inside of the restaurant, as it was really inviting and well laid out. The server must of heard of our displeasure, and began to talk to use and and ask us what we were doing for the day, and gave some advice. Bit we still walked away with no coffee, or a light snack as the answer was still NO. Some mooched around town, and went back to the Hotel around 4.30pm to check in. The rooms certainly lived upto the reviews, and we couldn't have been more happier. Around 6pm we thought we would go and chill in the bar area, and see if we could get a light snack as we had eaten in town! So the chill area bar side was full reserved, the restaurant was full reserved, and we were informed there was 3 separate parties taking place. We managed to find a seat in the reception area, and got a drink. We thought we would have a light snack / nibbles, as we people watched, so went to ask if this was doable! We then got the standard answer NO, we are busy, restaurant is not and we don't do nibble or snack. It was again straight NO. After having a gentle moan, we were suddenly whisked away from our seat the the table that was reserved opposite the bar: Very nice, but we didn't want to sit somewhere else, we just wanted a snack to go with our drink. We ended up having something fro the menu, which we didn't want to. The room became really loud / noisy even the staff member apologised for the loudness, we paid our bill shapry after eating, Stil charge a sevice charge! The place is lovely. the room is lovely, but staff experience as a while like was poor. You felt as though you were not good enough to be there.

Superb in every way . This hotel is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean . The room we stayed in was so generous in size and had beautiful views of field behind . Lovely coffee machine in room . We ate in the restaurant on both nights and food delicious . All staff were so friendly and welcoming . Maggie could not have been more welcoming on arrival and throughout our stay . We can not recommend this highly enough . We will be back ! Thank you .

Fabulous room with a great view over the fields with sheep. My husband is disabled and found the doors very challenging as you need to hold open and then it’s difficult to push the wheel chair through also the shale paths. We found the breakfast to be not quite up to scratch, first day served one broken egg and one very undercooked, the next day the muffin for the poached eggs hardly saw the toaster and for that reason was cold and tough it was served with plastic ham very disappointing. We had one evening meal and that was excellent.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel, our room had a beautiful view. It was large and airy with a very comfy large bed. The surroundings of the hotel are also lovely and a nice touch is a outside seating area with comfy chairs dedicated to hotel guests only. Breakfast was excellent and it was nice to have an unusual vegetarian option. We had an evening meal at the restaurant which was also excellent. All the staff were very pleasant and discreetly attentive.
