I spent 4 nights here to get away from the bustle of life and relax. I upgraded my room to a family room and had a a fabulous, relaxing time. The grounds are lovely and the staff are attentive and friendly. Roger and Kosta were wonderful, so helpful and friendly, they went out of their way to make me feel welcome and at ease. Being a single traveller can be quite lonely and intimidating but they really made my stay.
This hotel is great value for money and is in a fantastic location.

I recently visited the Hallmark Hotel with my partner as part of a Secret Escapes package. The hotel itself is very impressive right from the moment you drive up to the building.

Parking is complimentary and plentiful and we were welcomed on reception by very attentive staff.

As part of our break we had booked an Executive Room. I would have liked to have seen complimentary bottled water and possibly a snack, biscuits or something in the room considering this wasn’t the standard room, hence why I am deducting a star. Apart from these omissions our room was lovely and spacious with a very comfortable bed.

Our break included a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and £35 allowance per person in the restaurant. The Prosecco was lovely and £35 was more than ample to get three courses per person. In fact to use all the allowance we added extra side dishes to our main course.

The hotels leisure club / spa offered a very wide range of thermal rooms and pools, including a lovely heated outdoor pool. The only downside to the leisure club was the lockers in the ladies changing rooms. Many were broken, meaning we had to wait for one to become available.

I was slightly disappointed for a hotel claiming to care for the environment to see a huge stack of used, single use plastic cups overflowing in the bin in the spa area. Could a more environmentally friendly approach be found maybe?

Overall a lovely hotel, a great experience and would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Food was superb, including the large, extensive serve yourself Buffett breakfast.

Four stars from us, given the couple of negatives mentioned above.

Certainly would return again!

We got a good deal via Travelzoo but then a few negative reviews appeared so we took our own tea/coffee, pool towels and even loo roll. We needn’t have worried. Our room, which overlooked the formal gardens and waterfall, was clean and well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Staff didn’t enter due to restrictions but you could ask for towels, teabags etc. Bagged rubbish placed outside was quickly removed.

Pool towels were available in the spa and robes at Hotel reception. You need to book an hour’s session. Indoor pool, foot spas, outdoor Jacuzzi-style pool and heated beds all available. Sauna/steam closed due to pandemic. I recommend an hour’s hot stone massage with Jade.

I don’t understand why people choose a historic building then complain it’s dated. That is part of its charm. The lounge has a large fireplace and oak panelling and there is decorative woodwork/staircases throughout the main building.

Hot breakfast replaced the ‘grab bag’ and was plentiful. Everywhere was booked up on the last day of Eat out to help out so we were grateful both bar and restaurant had re-opened. Our only complaint was the fish pie was rather dry and missing ingredients but this was addressed by staff, all of whom were kind and helpful.

The hotel is nestled in the Welcombe Hills – a short walk to the obelisk via the car park gives panoramic views of the surrounding area. Stratford is a few minutes drive; park for free in the fisherman’s car park and walk in along the river in 15 minutes.

We booked a 3 night dbb break for our mini moon. We've stayed here previously and had an amazing time so we were very excited to stay again.

The grounds and the house are just stunning, a bit tired in places perhaps but we expect that when staying in historic buildings. That's all the positives.

We asked to book the bridal white specifically and even called after booking to further request it offering to pay and upgrade as required. We arrived and had not been allocated the bridal suite, but more annoyingly there was no recognition this was our honeymoon at all. The room we got was nice enough to be fair but we were irritated.

We got all our cases up to the room to find the keys didn't work, went back down to sort to find we were in a queue with several other guests having the same issue.

As part of our booking we'd prepaid for massages and a facial. We'd emailed the spa with preferred times as per our booking request, only to find no booking had been made at all!! Furthermore they had no availability for us except for the morning of our departure!! To make it worse they then yold me they were not doing facials either and couldn't sort my refund directly. The final straw was finding out all slots in the spa to use the pool were pretty much taken except for the evening slots. Hardly the honeymoon experience we imagined.

So the food....what can I say, abismal. The evening meal was no better than average pub food cooked from frozen unless you get the salad. You have to order drinks from the bar meaning you have to keep leaving your table, some drinks like wine served in glasses, everything else in plastic cups. Why? Covid is not the reason as most places do table service and will still give you a proper glass.

Breakfast...possibly THE WORST we've ever had. Limited choice which I do understand but it is get what you are given. What we were given was a poor cooked breakfast served in cardboard containers. Poor quality served with burnt cold toast. Tea and coffee were not nice either. The croissants were the nicest part. We left most of it, and noticed others had as well.

Spa. So aside from what I have just said we have been told we have to go to the spa in our robes only no robes have been provided. There's no reception number, just a what's app group which seems to take an age to respond. Everything feels like hard work.

We are trying to just enjoy the time together but for what we have paid we are seriously debating asking for money back and going home.

We have spent 5 nights at the Welcombe Hotel and it far exceeded our expectations. We took our 4 year daughter and she absolutely loved running around the ornate gardens and enjoyed being at the hotel as much as the days out we had in Stratford (less than a mile up the road). Our room was large with a separate foyer/dressing area between the bedroom and bathroom, which was equipped with a shower and separate bath, which also had a shower head, so you could say it had 2 showers!
The breakfast buffet was good, but pastries were not often on display, although I believe they were available to request. The staff were great and one staff member even offered to take a tray of drinks I was struggling with up to our room.
The spa was great and offered a number of facilities, although we only used the pool. Children could only use the pool for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon and you had to book in advance, but we were in there 3 out of 5 mornings and our daughter progressed from not wanting to get in the pool to floating around with armbands unsupported.
The areas on Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire and Evesham Vale are within a short distance and are stunning, but even if this hotel was in a less attractive locale, I would still want to return.

We stayed over for a night whilst we were visiting Stratford Upon Avon. The hotel is situated within beautiful grounds and is walking distance (albeit a long walk) from the town. We didn't try the Spa as we arrived late but it looked good. Breakfast was lovely and the hotel staff really practiced COVID19 safety measures well. The only minor thing about the room as such was that there was no info with the wifi password, no data service (probably due to the location) and the phone had been taken out of the room (probably due to COVID19?).

The only downside with this hotel is that it looks like it could do with a bit of maintenance to bring it back to life. There was flaking paint, tape across the carpets and it generally looked a bit "sad".

Other than that it was a really nice stopover, thank you.

We stayed at the Wellcome hotel in stratford for one night from 30th to 31st December as a family of 4. Overall the whole experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish and we will not be returning.

After checking in at 3.15pm we were sent up to our bedroom only to find it hadn’t been cleaned, beds not made and the bins were overflowing. Cue us having to carry our heavy bag down 2 flights of stairs again to wait another 40 minutes until it was ready. The room itself, although it had been cleaned, really needed a proper deep clean including the window sills and common parts. The double bed was literally like a rock, the mattress was so firm my husband and I both woke up with sore backs.

We ventured down to the spa with our kids which once again was filthy including the pool floor area and in the ladies changing room dirty used towels were piled up everywhere and clearly hadn’t been collected in hours.

Breakfast itself was very disappointing, with a very poor selection compared to other 4 star hotels we’ve stayed in around the UK. There was fruit, cereals and a hot selection but none of the extras we were used to seeing such as smoked salmon, extra cereal toppings including dried fruit, as well as a hot made to order option such as porridge, pancakes etc . We felt for the price per head if did not recommend great value and were also given 2 different prices for the children’s breakfast at check in and then at check out when it was time to pay and the rate was higher.

Overall the hotel did not feel like a 4 star hotel and unfortunately did not leave a lasting impression on us. Given the choice we would definitely not return.

It was valentines day and i had asked for a nice table for dinner which was provided the meal was good but not exceptional, The room / suite was clean warm spacious with a very comfortable super king bed. We used the beautiful spa in the afternoon complete with salt water outside spray pool. the only thing letting the spa area down was a lack of staff the changing room clothes storage were quite complicated to use and the floors messy with towels just strewn about, in the hour we were in the pool area we saw no staff they seem to stay around the outer area. All in all a lovely stay. just as a note the receptionist advised the guests in front of me when checking out that the tap water in the rooms was not fit for drinking ! which i am sure was not true particularly as i had drunk quite a lot and up to now have felt no ill effects.

We took advantage of a free nights b&b stay (with a shoulder night) as we had got married here last year. The staff very clearly explained the new covid safety rules and we were able to check in very quickly at 3pm. The room was clean and well proportioned, enough coffee and tea provided and we knew to call the front desk if more was needed. Our time allocated breakfast was very well managed and the staff were friendly and well trained. We liked having sealed cutlery provided, juice and yogurt on the table ready, with hot drinks poured quickly. The plated full English breakfast was good and enough food, you tend to overeat when there's a buffet! Definitely would recommend and the staffing levels were much better than other hotels we have stayed at since the lockdown ended.

We booked an overnight stay and spa break. We were able to check in a little earlier with no issues. The hotel was a bit dated but this didn’t really bother us, we took it as a bit of English Chic. The hotel grounds are beautiful and expansive and room was clean. Given covid circumstances many of the sauna and steam rooms were closed but we had access to the swimming pool and outdoor hydro pool with was nice. We booked a couples massage which was also great. We had an emergency and had to check out within a few hours. The front desk assistant, Anna, was really sympathetic and helpful. As a gesture of goodwill we were only charged as a day break instead of an overnight stay even though we used the room and the hotel were probably unlikely to resell it. I want to point out that the customer service was excellent and this goes a long way.
