Stratford Limes Hotel is praised for its clean, comfortable rooms and the inviting atmosphere, with many guests appreciating the hotel's proximity to Stratford and ease of access. However, there's a mix of opinions on the service and room decor, with some finding the staff friendly while others cite slow service.
Critics often point to the lack of dining options and feel the hotel does not provide good value, citing overpriced rooms and extra charges. Despite this, the cleanliness and ample parking are frequently highlighted as positives.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed for two nights. While travelling to the hotel we received a text message stating our room key could be found in a lock box to the side of the rear entrance and if we experienced any issues to ring the phone number provided in the message. So obviously no one there to great guests. On arrival we located the lock boxes but soon realised there was no code provided in the text... not a good start. Luckily another guest just happened to be coming out of the hotel and informed us all room keys had in fact been left in the room doors. On entering the room we noticed a basket with cereal and two croissant.. the hotel states when booking free breakfast giving the impression of either a cooked or continental breakfast provided with no mention of a few breakfast items being left in your room. However having said all this we were very happy with the standard of the hotel for the price we paid having free parking and being within walking distance of Stratford. They just need to communicate certain issues a little better. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again

My reception experience was the best I have received in many a year far better than the various so called 'luxury hotels' I have visited. Ellie was delightful and couldn't have been more helpful and when she heard my friend wasn't able to come she immediately offered me a double room rather than the twin we had booked, amazing. It was also the first time someone in reception had actually looked at me and spoken to me. Too often the whole process in hotels involves the member of staff watching the whole long process on screen and they don't address you. The room was clean and smartly decorated and Ellie was quick to respond to the basic questions I had. All of the staff were delightful and couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Being able to park the car free in the hotel car park where the spaces were a reasonable size and easy to get into was a joy. Just a mile away in Stratford centre hotels you pay at least £12/day. Well done The Limes you really shone, I shall be back.

Stayed at the Stratford Limes hotel this weekend for a Valentines break to Stratford Upon Avon. Cannot fault anything about the hotel. We always stay here when we come to Stratford Upon Avon and it certainly lives up to reputation and expectation. Great friendly staff, beautiful spacious and clean rooms and of course the best bit being the full English breakfast cooked for us by John. Highly reccommended.

Reviews suggested outstanding boutique hotel however experience was standard at best with added Fawlty Towers moments. Booked direct with hotel who on arrival seemed surprised we were a family of 5 and had made no prep (ie no beds) for this eventuality. Net curtain in room ripped, bathroom dirty, one remote to share between TV in our room and that of the kids.. We booked due to breakfast advertised however there was no cooked option at all and this was never made clear at any point. We were advised that this was due to there being no chef and to be fair , given the current covid scenario , its difficult to be critical on that score. Nonetheless, the manager advised that in any case cooked brekkie would have been extra anyway. Unfortunately , they didnt seem to have prepared in advance for the continental option either. We were faced with no coffee no milk (even for the cereal) , and some bread from the local shop in its packet stuck on the side. Also for large periods there was no staff member attending so cutlery , bowls and hot water was out for a considerable time. It seems reason for this lack of attention was that the staff had gone to the shop to replenish supplies. During this period my 3 boys began to eat their napkins (they arent bloaters or anything…..they just like hotel brekkies😂) Anyway , ran everything by manager on leaving requesting a reduction in bill and was told it had already been taken - so no dice on this one. So would recommend Tripadvisors voting with their feet and looking elsewhere.

New management Emma on the desk was very friendly and chatty .
Rooms very clean nice added touch of fresh milk n tea n coffee and toiletries in the bathroom.
Bit mis matched furnishing was told on arrival there is no cooked breakfast just continental huge disappointment as this was always a great added touch and a big reason amongst a few others we kept coming back to the hotel..Booked this time as added bonus of discount of blue light card discount this was not honoured and was told that they know nothing of this offer room prices had also gone up not told until arrival.Did email a few weeks back and got no response so had to ring to see if rooms were still booked
We had 2 rooms 1 should have been 230 n other 220 for the 2 nights was actually charged 230 and 240 1 of the payments actually got took out while we were out and about not the service of a hotel we expect so sadly won't be returning I do hope the little things pointed out get sorted and they can bring it back to the fantastic hotel it once was

The hotel is situated a pleasant 25 minute walk from the centre, with plenty of parking.
The staff were polite,, the room was a really good size with a huge bed. However, there were no USB points at all which is surprising these days, we hadn’t taken a plug so ended up buying one from a shop in the centre. And the boiler must have been situated behind the wall in our bathroom, I didn’t notice it the first night (few drinks!) but the second night I woke up at 4am, and once I heard it I couldn’t un-hear it - it was firing up every 30 seconds or so, constantly, and I struggled to get back to sleep.
Also, as a couple of other reviews have pointed out, when we booked the hotel, it said cooked breakfast was included. After we’d booked we received an email that due to covid, cooked breakfasts weren’t happening and we could however purchase a continental breakfast for £5 each. When we got there, there was actually a menu which did include cooked breakfasts, so we thought that it would be included in our room rate as originally booked. We only had breakfast there on our last day, and after we’d checked out and got home I noticed that a further £18 for the breakfasts had been taken from my card, which left a bit of a sour taste.
Connolly’s tapas bar 100 yards away is superb, and we would definitely stay here again. I wouldn’t however, stay in the same room due to the noise from the boiler, and I’d clarify exactly what the score is with breakfasts if it says included when booking.

The room was well decorated and furnished, It had everything that we needed. The communal corridors and staircases were all tastefully painted and carpeted also. Shame there was no bar open in the evening but it was a very quiet spot and there are plenty of quality pubs in the locality. Plenty of free parking and the cost was really reasonable.

The hotel was actually very nice! The rooms had everything you required, tea / coffee / biscuits / hairdryer / shower gel / shampoo / conditioner / fan if we ever get a summer! The beds were really comfortable too.
I have only given it a rating of 3 /5 due to a couple of things -
1. My friend and I booked breakfast for our first morning there @ 9.15am. It finally arrived at 10am, I had to ask for cutlery twice and my toast had no colour whatsoever! The food tasted nice but it just seemed very chaotic. We went elsewhere the following morning.
2. The same day, we arrived back at the hotel at 9.30pm, we were going to sit in the breakfast / bar area and have a drink before going to bed. To our dismay it was all closed up and no one was around. Very disappointed. There never really seemed to be anyone around.
I would however stay here again and would recommend to others.

Following our stay at your hotel, March. Sadly we were disappointed. Albeit the initial reception was adequate, it was bemusing to be informed that we could only have one key consequently restricting any independent plans. We’ve stayed on several occasions with the previous ownership and appreciate change happens. We booked our favourite room which was of good standard, although we had to request a TV control , the original was missing. The fridge had been changed to a picnic size chiller and failed to maintain any chill. A cooked breakfast was now replaced with a “continental breakfast” . However we considered it woefully lacking, our idea of such a breakfast differs considerably with what was available. A suggestion of additional options of marmite, cold meats or cheese and fresh fruit. The bowl of mixed fruit and yoghurt didn’t appear to have been refreshed on the three subsequent days of our stay, nor the loaf of bread. The hot drinks were also disappointing, having to boil a kettle on two of the days and top up from a vacuum flask on another. In the room initially the kettle had to be placed on the floor as the lead to the nearest plug point was too short. It wasn’t until we remembered a plug point on the opposite side of the table. Necessitating the rearrangement of the tray and lamp.
Finally we found it wrong that no staff were available, other than a mobile number. the room was only serviced once during our three night stay and the member of staff responsible for the breakfast arrangements sat at the reception in their outdoor wear. I can only liken the stay to staying in a youth hostel. The wifi also intermittent in the room, we’d never experienced on our previous visits.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
This hotel has no compassion for the welfare of their guests. Me and my partner was due to stay at this hotel for a wedding, unfortunately I had become extremely ill very suddenly when we was traveling back from Mexico. We couldn’t cancel 2 days before as we was traveling back from Mexico so when we landed we had one day to try and cancel. I tried to ring the hotel to which the phone number that is provided does not work. I emailed and they replied once but didn’t answer my question, then stopped replying. I then sent multiple emails to which I was ignored. The next day they took the money out of our banks even when we tried getting in contact with them. We spoke to booking.com and they said it’s completely unfair to be charged full price when I was hospitalised due to my health conditions. They tried getting in contact with the hotel and they haven not reap to booking.com. Stratford limes then emailed me saying it’s to late and they have charged us for our booking.
Poor management skills, no compassion and lazy in replying. Their contact number needs updating as it doesn’t work.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! At least other hotels would have compassion for their guests and would try to help assist in any way possible. Unfortunately this hotel couldn’t care less about replying back to me as long as they got paid then that’s all that matters to them!

Hi Georgia,
We have been closed since the March lockdown, but we will be open again ready to welcome guests by October half term in a couple of weeks.
Not really, the station is in Stratford town centre - the hotel is just over a mile away in Tiddington. Either a 20/30 minute walk, or a taxi for around a fiver. The hotel is also on a bus route from Stratford and the regular buses stop right outside the hotel door. So plenty of options...
