For clarity, this is a fully refurbished hotel with new owners bearing no resemblance whatsoever to its previous life. Just minutes walk from the town centre, tastefully refurbished, warm, cosy and friendly this is a delightful hotel. The nice touches of a gift in your room on arrival, a pantry of snacks with coffee machine, afternoon tea and “gin o’clock”...

Mum and I stayed at Arden House over Christmas. This is a new part of the hotel, opened in November 2016 in a recently-renovated townhouse ten minutes' walk from the main hotel. The house is lovely, beautiful decor in all the rooms with a welcoming lounge and dining room to mingle with the other house guests (around ten rooms in...

We got a room here at the last minute, after a visit to the theatre. Slightly worried by some of the reviews on this site, but found the accommodation was not too bad, I've certainly stayed in worse! Very well placed for access to the town, however, as others have pointed out, the hotel does need to refreshing as some...

The place is up for sale and it shows by the way they are running it. I hadn't even got out my car, upon arrival, when the woman/owner came over and told me to move my car, not once, not twice, but three times because it wasn't exactly straight and perfect as to where she wanted it. There are no...

Took my fiancee away for a surprise weekend break.Great location in middle of town, lots of parking too, enjoyed a lovely breakfast on both mornings. Only downside was our bed was two singles pushed together plus the bedding was sheets and blankets....I prefer a duvet!

Hotel is near the centre of town and has car parking. Owner kindly let us leave the car so we could go exploring the following day. Clean and tidy place. Whilst some of the decor is not to my taste for £85 I cannot complain.

First of all I'd like to say I've reviewed a fair few places now and would say I give a fair review and reflection of how I perceive somewhere. If it's good/great I will say likewise if it's not I will also say. We booked here at the last minute having set off on a mini adventure not sure where...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Arden House provides an elegant, inviting and relaxed sanctuary to kick back in, but also a place that offers the opportunity to share experiences and make new friends along the way. You are invited to sit at our "family home style" dining table during breakfast and to join guests for afternoon tea or evening drinks. Relax anywhere in our house. Help yourself to treats from the pantry. Sip from drinks at the bar whilst enjoying surroundings that are set with thoughtful and personal touches, alongside collections of quality books, magazines and newspapers. Though Arden House is a world away from a 'traditional' hotel environment and a place to relax in privacy, we still want to take care of your every need. This is where your dedicated 'house hosts' come in, and it's their job to make sure you are treated like a celebrity. ... more   less
