Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent location- would have given 5 stars however guests need to know the exact details for parking at the Race Course so they don’t get a parking ticket by the council!! Room cosy and had everything you needed- breakfast beautifully cooked

I don't apologise for using the "F" word ... FANTASTIC. My wife and have stayed in dozens of hotels across the UK and Europe, but we can't remember a better experience than our four nights at "The Old Fourpenny Shop", where we've just stayed for the "Warwick Folk Festival" I won't bore you about the perfectly cooked breakfasts (a great choice too) and the splendid lunchtime/evening meals, not forgetting the range of hand-pumped beers and ciders. Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them. My wife and I stayed in one of the grould-floor Courtyard Rooms, overlooking the lovely Beer Garden and large terrace. If you book one of the Courtyard Rooms, you have your own table and chairs right outside your bedroom door where you can wine and dine, as we did. We loved the "Old Fourpenny Shop" so much that we're already booked to stay there again for the "Warwick Folk Festival" weekend next year - July 2023.

The ground floor room overlooked a courtyard, and was comfortable and warm. The bathroom was spotless, water in shower and towel rails were hot. The restaurant food was to a good standard, food was tasty, and the staff were friendly. The only (minor) downside was that the parking was not immediately on-site, but was inside Warwick Racecourse, but on the upside, this makes it an excellent venue for that, and is also very convenient for Warwick Castle.

A real gem of an establishment, comfortable clean accommodations, huge fluffy towels, great staff, a comprehensive menu with a core of traditional fare, all the meals we had (3 breakfasts, 1 lunch & 2 dinners, totalling 22 plates) were excellent, the homemade pies, exceptional, then the pub bar, tried all the available guest beers, bar staff knew the product and gave great advise.

A beautiful wedding- my son’s-I can’t think of a better place to have it. The venue is amazing, the staff brilliant and the food delicious. We were very happy with the accommodation and the whole day was superbly organised. Everything ran on well-oiled wheels. Sue Dix

Whenever we go to Warwick races we stay at the Old Fourpenny Shop Hotel if a room is available. Why? Because this place is a jewel in a crown in all aspects. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. The rooms are immaculately clean. The food is excellent (super menu for all tastes!) and the atmosphere in the bar/eating areas is bubbling, friendly, warm and inviting. Cost of b&b for two £100. Excellent value.Complimentary tickets for the races are an excellent extra, saving you nigh on £40 for two people. Only downside is the limited parking but the hotel has an arrangement with the racecourse and the Cricket Club that you can park there overnight. Never had a problem with this and our car has always been safe and secure (and I am very fussy where I park!) Highly recommended without any reservation whatsoever. Thank you Old Fourpenny for your existence and consistently high standards. Superb!

Lovely rooms ( we were in the stable rooms outside of the hotel). The room was spacious, comfortable, warm and spotless. Lovely extras such as a fridge, water, coffee machine. Friendly helpful staff. The location is perfect for the horseracing and also Warwick Castle

Perfect overnight stay while en route down South to a wedding. We were very warmly welcomed on arrival and given clear instructions on where to park the car. Our room was spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. It was spotlessly clean. We had an evening meal of tapas which was amazing and the breakfast was delicious. We were able to leave our car where it was for the day so took the short walk into Warwick for a wander. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return if we are in the area again.

Really, really good stay. The outside looks not too inviting but all that changes when you walk in the door! It's beautifully furnished inside, the conservatory is lovely, as is the garden. The room was spotlessly clean, lovely comfy bed and pillows. Excellent coffee machine and the toiletries were good too. Breakfast was exceptional- I had perfect poached eggs and added bacon- the bacon was really thick and superb quality. My husband had a full English and was very happy. Only reason it's 4 stars and not 5 are just a few things- firstly, no little shelf in the shower cubicle so all your toiletries have to go on the floor (easily remedied). The shower alternated between hot and cold for me. Other than these little things it was a great stay and we would stay here again.

This is actually a pub with rooms and you have to go through the bar to get to the rooms. Having said that, our room was very comfortable. Breakfast was good. The hotel is only 5 or 10 minutes walk from the town centre. Parking arrangements were very convenient; the hotel provides a parking permit for the racecourse, which is just up the road, about 5 minutes walk away.
