Last minute plans with my other half and our group of friends, unfortunately as we booked on late we were the only couple not to get into the ibis, so decided on the Britannia, 2 words, huge mistake. From walking into the hotel I felt dirty, it's so small and dull I felt like I was in a hide out....

I chose the Britannia because I needed somewhere very close to B'ham New Street Station - and the Premier Inn was full. The hotel's own photos and write-up looked OK. I was not expecting luxury - but neither was I expecting the overwhelming dinginess, grottiness and decrepitude I encountered. Nothing about staying here was relaxing or in the slightest bit...

Grotty hotel, needs updating, the receptionist when they feel like being where they're supposed to be are extremely unfriendly and not particularly polite. It's definitely not good value for money. The only good thing about it it's the location, however it'd have been a lot better staying a bit further out of the city centre and pay less rather than...

My room had no windows. None. The place was filthy, uncomfortable and depressing. The carpets were grotty and stained, the bathroom was revolting and the staff uninterested. To be fair, that's not their fault, but whoever owns this dump should be ashamed and embarrassed.
