Given the bad reviews,I was somewhat surprised at my experience at The Britannis. ok the decor is dated, but the beds were super comfy. The breakfast thrme following morning was cold and overcooked, but the staff were polite and friendly.

Beware of double charging by this hotel. I booked with Booking.com and payment was taken in advance by credit card by Booking.com. On checking in to this hotel, I was asked for an imprint of my card but assured by staff that it was routine and no charges would be taken. A further charge was made on my card for the cost of the room. A month later, I am still attempting to get my refund. The hotel is a poor communicator. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere or paying cash on the door.

I always try and find something good to say , but I’m struggling.. ok, it’s right in the city centre, and that’s it! It was a last minute booking and everywhere else was fully booked it’s worth the £70 only because of the location. Oh, one other thing, make sure (if you’re desperate to stay) take photographic i.d with you, even though I thought it was now illegal to take a persons details without proper storage etc.

Thebone time I booked in a rush for business without reading a review. Old, damp, cold, dirty, awful place avoid at all costs. Uncomfortable and dirty beds simply the worse place I have ever stayed. The entrance is down a ally that was full of people smoking drugs.

Do you need a key card to access the lifts ?
No the hotel is open so no key cards and all the rooms will open with a solid push due to the age. This hotel is unsafe with no security for guests. It is open access with limited CCTV and the staff, especially Charles from Maintenance is aggressive angry and I would suspect on drugs. It also seems to be some half way house, from the clientele I have had the unfortunate experience of meeting.
