This was my 2nd stay in Ibis Birmingham Centre New Street. Everything went exactly the same as I had experienced, if not slightly better, during my past stay almost one year ago right from the moment I checked-in until I checked-out. Once I arrived in Birmingham New Street station, I walked to the hotel. Since I knew the shortest route to the hotel, it took me less than 15 minutes to reach the hotel on foot (from the station).

Check-in process was really efficient and prompt (less than 5 minutes) this time. They assigned a family room, their biggest room, in 4th floor (Room 442). In this stay, I booked 3 rooms and they assigned family rooms for all of us, all in 4th floors (next to each other although one guest decided to switch room to a smaller one which faced the main street the next day due to excessive noise from the bars/clubs behind this hotel).

Breakfast in the morning was good. Although the breakfast spread was not much but they were of good quality. I also noticed the kitchen didn't provide tomato ketchup in the breakfast area during my 8 nights' stay but that wasn't bothered me at all. Plus someone can order their poached eggs from the kitchen. There was another thing missing from the room during my whole stay : Ear plugs. I didn't inquire about ear plugs during my stay but I guess someone would need them since the level of noise from the bars/clubs behind the hotel (Arcadian Centre) could get very loud in some nights during my stay.

However, despite the above minuses, I would still love staying in this hotel property. It is centrally located (in the heart of Chinatown district) where I can easily find many restaurants, shops and shopping centre in the nearby area, all are located within a radius of 300 metres away from the hotel.

This hotel is also located less than 700 metres away from Birmingham Coach Station (less than 15 minutes on foot; easy walk with luggages). This time, due to last minute change in my trip itinerary, I finally decided to take a bus (the only available option), which departed from Birmingham Coach Station, to London/LHR in the early morning (approx. 00:45 am) to catch first flight to Moscow SVO. It was surprisingly safe for me to walk from the hotel to Birmingham Coach Station around midnight.

Based on my recent stay, I personally would not hesitate to provide a 4 stars' rating for this hotel although the housekeeping didn't vacuum the carpet in some days but still, this hotel generally could perform an excellent service. I would also strongly recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking for quality hotel accommodation in their future trips to Birmingham.

I was very happy with location and the hotel generally and the price was very low likely due to Covid severely impacting demand.

One thing I was unhappy with was the way a request from a lady in front of me in the queue asking for milk the next day for her baby. The lady was offered that if should bought breakfast for her baby at 5.95 GBP. That was ridiculous to charge 6 pounds for some milk, We asked for milk when our daughter was a baby and was never treated like that, I showed the lady where a local Supermarket was as an altermative.

The hotel room was clean, they have clearly thought about the COVID protocols and I felt safe. It is 10 minute walk from new street station so a good location to visit the city from and if you like Chinese then China town is on your door step. It also offered good value for money at the time of writing (we paid £45 per night). Why only 3 stars then, we’ll the bathroom is small and impractical, the double bed small and uncomfortable and in reality if you want to book a generic hotel room for a bed to lie in and no more my advice is still to book a premier inn which just gets the basics that bit better than this Ibis. Shout out to the staff though who were friendly, saw them deal with a couple of upset customers very well.

I stayed at this Ibis during a recent visit to the University of Birmingham and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel is in a great central location in the Chinese district. There are lots of great eateries within walking distance – I would suggest having a walk around to find somewhere to eat as online searches don’t really provide an accurate outline of what is available. There is also food and bar available at the hotel if you would prefer to stay in. Car park is very secure and I was happy leaving my car there overnight.

I was lucky enough to stay in one of the recently updated rooms and it was absolutely gorgeous – very airy and modern, beautiful lighting and spotlessly clean!! It was lovely and warm and very quiet, especially considering the location, so I got a great night sleep which is the most important thing for me. Breakfast was also spot on, it was Covid safe so not the usual spread one would expect, but that was fine by me. A great ‘continental’ selection was available (everything individually wrapped/covered), endless tea/coffee, and a delicious cooked breakfast was delivered to my table.

But I was most impressed with the staff and the customer service at the hotel. They provided a really warm welcome and were polite, friendly and helpful throughout my stay. I felt that they really care about their guests and genuinely want them to have a great stay. I met the manager at breakfast who was lovely and also checked that everything had been ok with my stay. Overall, I would say this hotel offers fantastic value for money and I will definitely stay here in future!!

My partner and I have been using Accor hotels and in particular this Ibis hotel for many, many years. Over that time we have been treated amazingly well by the staff and the current gang are continuing the high standard of service, helpfulness and friendliness. The hotel itself is typical ibis, comfortable bed with a small shower room including toilet and sink. It’s typical ibis style! Some of the recently refurbished rooms are decorated to a higher standard and are very nice (but same size, quit moaning!) The hotel is in a great position for bars, restaurants, city centre, Hippodrome theatre and train station! Yes the rooms on the front suffer from noise from people frequenting neighbouring bars/clubs particularly at weekends but just ask for a quiet room on the back of the hotel or bring ear plugs (from experience the hotel staff will provide these on request!) There is a car park on site, contrary to other reviews. It’s currently £15 a night which seems a bit steep but it’s cheaper than the closest NCP which is currently £20 a night, quite a walk away so less convenient and far less secure! Breakfasts here are lovely and fresh and there is a more than adequate room service menu if you require it (but just to reiterate there are so many nice places to eat on the doorstep, in particular Chinese and Asian cuisine!) This is nearly always our hotel of choice when we visit Birmingham! It’s not a price thing, it’s a partly a location but mainly staff thing. Currently headed by the amazing Rob, a big shout out to Kamal, Olga, Natalia, Sumeya, Joana and Milan. Also all the people behind the scenes such as house keeping and kitchen staff. You all work as a team and All Accor Limitless group are lucky to have you. The ibis brand might not be to everyone’s taste, but Ibis New Street is certainly worth a visit (it’s
Not on New Street by the way it’s on Ladywell Walk close to New Street station!) We look forward to many more enjoyable stays in the future. As Diamond All Accor members we always appreciate good service, but this has been a given here over the years, regardless of membership status! Keep up the good work and thank you!

The hotel is very centrally located, we used the underground car park which at £15 overnight we thought a very good price. There is not a Check in desk, but plenty of very helpful staff to sort you out with their smart phones, very modern! Our room was also modern and well equipped, it was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. We had a very good breakfast, well stocked, with a good choice of hot and cold food. All the staff we met were great but a special shout out to Ingrid the morning breakfast lady, so chatty, helpful and made everyone feel so welcome. All in all a great stay at a great price.

The price hike of hotels made us think we would have no chance of staying in Birmingham itself but the Ibis price was not nearly as bad as other hotels. We stayed 3 nights and were very happy with the hotel. The staff were lovely and helpful. When we checked in we were told that the security scanners at the events could clear the room key information so it was suggested we stopped at reception to get them re-done on our return to avoid going to our rooms and having to come back down if they didn't work. Little things like that are much appreciated. My room was clean and comfortable and had a window that opened. I did have to close the window on the Friday and Saturday nights due to the noise outside but that was not the fault of the hotel. Once the window was closed, I could no longer hear any noise from outside. There was a fan in the room but I didn't have to use it as sufficient cool air came from the aircon and I slept well. We decided not to have breakfast the first two mornings when we were going to the stadium. I had breakfast on the morning we checked out and it was very nice. the location, very close to New Street Railway Station, was ideal. I would be more than happy to stay there again.

I recently stayed for one night at this hotel. The room was a good price and the location was just across from the Chinese Quarter which was a good place for something to eat. The reception team were helpful checking in. The room was compact, as you would expect for a city centre hotel. It was clean and tidy. However, I wasnt able to control the temperature of the room very well. It was quite warm inside the building and the air conditioner would only pump out warm air. That meant I needed to leave the windows open to get the room a comfortable temperature which, due to the location of the hotel, meant there was quite a bit of noise. Thankfully I never travel without earplugs so this wasnt a massive problem for me.

We enjoyed our stay at the IBIS Birmingham New Street. The location is great close to the Hippodrome, train station and city centre. The staff were exceptionally helpful and the breakfast was great and set us up for a good day exploring. We booked this hotel because we were offered a great deal which was competitive with the other hotels.

Good budget hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean and shower good.

A net curtain on the window would be useful.

Location good, close to New Street station and the Bullring. Two minutes walk from the Hippodrome theatre and the Back to Backs. There's two pubs (one a Wetherspoons) opposite the theatre and a Tesco a bit further down the same road - scope for a cheaper breakfast than at the hotel.

Only issue is the hotel car park. DO NOT park there. The entrance is on a corner up against a wall at a ridiculous angle. Our car got stuck! Park in the Apoca car park across the road from the hotel for the same price (£15 for 24 hours) - save your paintwork!

The Chung Ying Chinese restaurant across the road from the hotel was excellent.
