I purchased a 1 night stay for 2 with a complementary glass of wine on arrival, breakfast and a late check out (2pm) for £45 and I must say our stay was fantastic!! Check in took 5 minutes or so as there was a problem finding our booking, for the inconvenience we received 2 complementary drink tokens!

2 of the 3 lifts were out of order and a small queue had formed to use the 1 functioning lift, there didn’t seem to be any stairs to use as an alternative, this didn’t really bother us as it was only a few minutes, and 1 of the 2 lifts was later fixed.

Our room, on the 6th floor, was clearly brand new, with a large screen TV fixed to the wall opposite the bed, USB charging sockets conveniently placed at each side of the bed, a mini fridge with 2 bottles of complementary water (no mini bar I’m afraid) and
complementary Nespresso espressos :).

The bathroom was gleaming with a large double shower and shower gel and shampoo etc.

The toilet seat wasn’t fastened correctly, but again this is a small detail, but someone could easily slip off whilst doing their business (thankfully I didn’t :) ).

The room also had a safe, hairdryer and ironing board.

The bathroom door is on rails and also slides across as the door to the wardrobe.

Parking available opposite the hotel in the university car park, I paid around £9 for 36hours or so.

The hotel bar is great, very modern. They served porn star martinis.

Breakfast was plentiful, all the options of an English breakfast and lighter options, cereals etc, I asked for fried eggs as there was only scrambled out on the counter which was no problem for the waiter and they arrived at my table a few minutes later.

The hotel is clearly new and the staff, although they tried their best and I couldn’t fault any of the staff everyone was polite and helpful but I got the impression management was lacking, this place is finding its feet but it was such good value for money and I would definitely consider staying in this chain of hotels in the future, and the bull ring is only a 5 minute walk away!! :)

New hotel, about 15 minutes walk to the bullring, very good if visiting anyone at the university’s as it’s practically opposite both Birmingham city and Aston uni. Aloft is known to be young, modern and hip and it’s lived up to that.

Rooms are a very good size and the twin beds are essentially 2 small doubles in the regular room, and is a just shy of 2 king size in the upgraded rooms!

Breakfast was standard buffet fare, the sausages could be better quality, in fact they should be better quality as they are the ones you expect in Travelodge or Premier inn, but this hotel is far from a low budget hotel, so not sure why they opted for such dry cheap tasting sausages.

Ok let’s get to the exceptional of this hotel:

Jordan and Amani. They are probably the nicest hotel staff I have ever come across, they couldn’t do enough to make my stay as comfortable as possible. They are all lovely and professional in front of house to be fair and are a credit to the hotel ( management I hope you are reading this!) but Jordan and Amani were exceptional, to the point my encounter with them is what made me stay on an additional day.

Now the other end of the spectrum, the chink in their amour… HOUSEKEEPING!

I’ve have stayed in other Aloft hotels so I sort of know what should be in the rooms. The first room I had was for the most part, fine. It had 4 pillows, 2 bottles of water, sanitising wipes which were a great idea as this must be in response to COVID, however there wasn’t any face cloths which even in the “standard” rooms of other Alofts, they are provided.

I had a little issue and was moved to another floor, and was actually an upgraded room however it only had 2 pillows, no water, 1 face cloth and no sanitizer wipes.

Unless things have changed since my days of working in hotels, there should be a supervisor to go into the rooms to check that it is up to standard, so either the housekeeping supervisor isn’t doing this at all or his/her standards are poor to overlook and allow such discrepancies in the rooms, especially the upgraded rooms which guests are actually paying more for but receiving less in terms of what should be in the room.

Part of my deal included late checkout, and given how on the ball reception are I would be very surprised if this information wasn’t passed on to housekeeping, yet over an hour before I was due to check out the housekeeper decided to just enter the room without knocking. Unless the housekeeper is sure/reception have confirmed that the rooms have been checked out, the housekeeper is supposed to knock before entering… now given what I have seen so far with housekeeping I’m inclined to believe this is normal for them, to just walk into the rooms without knocking.

All in all this is a lovely hotel with lovely, hardworking front of house staff, and if it wasn’t for the housekeeping then it would have easily been full marks.

Hope to visit you all again soon!

This hotel seemed to be quite new. The first thing that hits you is the lovely smell in the lobby. The decor is modern and fresh. The room itself was comfortable and clean. Huge shower room. The staff were all smiles and happy to help with anything. Breakfast was brilliant - custom made omelettes and the croissants were amongst the best I've had in a hotel! I used the gym every night, which was reasonably well equipped. Nearby parking on the street is free 7.30pm-8am Mon-Sat and all day Sunday. Otherwise there is 24 hour parking in the nearby Millennium Point multistorey. The location means you may have to pay Birmingham's new clean air zone charge in the future. Overall though, highly recommended.

The hotel is located in a brand new building, so the rooms look relatively well presented and clean.

While the room was generally clean, I have managed to find a roll of a wide cello tape by the bed, an empty Ann Summers bag in the wardrobe and a ballon + bits of a cello tape on the ceiling. It looked like the room was decorated for the previous guest who was celebrating their birthday/anniversary, but no effort was made to ensure that the room is clean for the next guest.

I did not try the hotel breakfast, only grabbed a bottle of red from the bar late at evening as the closest shop was closed and Deliveroo did not accept orders. I’ve opted for an £18 bottle of red, which was not good - we did not manage to have more than a sip. When I made a comment about it the next day, the receptionist said that it was a ‘house red’ - I did not realise that house reds taste like a watered down balsamic vinegar. My search revealed that the wine was not off, but that it was simply not good, and that the market price is less than £5. A 4* Hotel should be more careful with the choices of wine, especially when located further out of the city centre.

My Gold status was recognised at the check-in, I have received a late checkout, but no upgrade. Most (but not all) of the staff members were polite and friendly.

Staff were all great nothing was to much trouble. We had a issue with our room as toilet seat was very loose and staff immediately offered to change room.
Main problem we found was dust everywhere. Pulled out the fridge as it was unplugged an it was covered in dust and full of water which poured onto the floor and was very noisy. Dust along top of the tv and the headboard looks to have not been dusted since the room was kitted out.
Breakfast was average but quality of the sausages was poor dining room again had dust on the lamp shades and on the surfaces by the lamps. First cup i got for a drink was very dirty
We would stay again as it was good value but managers really need to take a close look at the cleanliness around the hotel as bad habits will get worse if not addressed

I stayed at Aloft Birmingham Eastside earlier this week with a corporate package for an event. My friend and I arrived just after 3pm, which was our designated check in time, to find that the room was not ready yet and the receptionist was not able to give us any indication as to when we would be able to properly check in. This was very inconvenient and meant that we had to alter our plans. The room was clean and clearly brand new, but there were no snacks in there, ie: biscuits or fruit, which are often found in similar hotels.

We were just settling down and having a rest before we went into the city centre and someone who was seemingly a member of staff (he had a clip board but no uniform) knocked on our door very quietly (to the point where we wondered if we heard someone at the door or not) and then just entered the room unannounced saying he was there to check the room!! I asked him to leave, but he should not have entered the room if there was no answer at the door, one of us could’ve been getting changed or showering which would have created a very uncomfortable situation.

Breakfast was fine, a small selection but everything was fresh. The only thing that made me feel uncomfortable was the serve yourself area for the cooked breakfast, not very covid friendly as there was lots of touch points (and only a small hand sanitizer which I hardly noticed was there). Breakfast staff did not exactly bring service with a smile. We expected housekeeping to come and tidy our room during the day but they never came despite us taking the “do not disturb” sign off the door.

Overall the stay was ok, but I think next time I would look elsewhere such as the Clayton Hotel or Conference Aston, which are more established hotels and probably better organised than Aloft.

The location was great and we parked outside on a meter.
The room (3rd floor) was fantastic, clean spacious and lovely bathroom.
The room was very quiet, great double glazing as you can’t hear any traffic etc.
The bed was heavenly, super king size with great mattress and really comfortable pillows.
The only criticism and room for improvement would be the buffet breakfast. The coffee, juice, bread and pastries were all fabulous as was the restaurant, but the actual cooked food was a bit of a let down as it was only luke warm and really dry (couldn’t eat the bacon). I didn’t want to write anything bad as overall this hotel was amazing and I’d definitely return but maybe get breakfast elsewhere.

The staff were lovely and friendly and communal areas were clean and tidy.

Eastside is a brand new hotel complex with fantastic conference facilities. From cleaners, to reception, to bar and kitchen staff and to the conference team, everyone is friendly, attentive and really helpful. Rooms are shiny and bright. The conference centre includes a huge main hall, meeting/function rooms and offices. There are several refreshment points dotted around, aswell as a number of bars serving the function rooms, in addition to the main bar. Excellent disability access throughout. Oh, and the free wifi is really good, throughout the hotel and centre.

Really great experiene, will definitely be back.

I stayed at this hotel for a week for business purposes and I was extremely impressed by it. You could see that the property was brand new. The rooms were new, not necessarily to my taste, but good enough. Cleanliness wasn't an issue except for one issue which I will touch on later. The staff are great here and deserve credit for their professionalism. I tried room service a few times but admittedly it wasn't the best. Breakfast however is where Aloft excelled. They provide breakfast 'to go' where you place your order the day before and it is prepared and packed for you to take out or to your room. This is the first time I have seen this at a property in this price point and it was an excellent offering. There is parking a few minutes walk away or there are some on-street paid parking spaces right outside.

The only issue I had here was the AC which I can only assume accumulated dust as I woke up with a horrible throat when using it. This must have been down to how new the property is but this must have been resolved now. After I switched it off it became better.

For anybody looking to stay in Birmingham I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed at Aloft Eastside from 29th April to May 1st, with my five year old twins. It was our first 'getaway' as it were, and I'm so grateful I chose to stay here.

We were booked on a package that included all kids food free, breakfast included and the room which was a double family room with two huge beds. We paid £503 all in.

The hotel itself is absolutely outstanding. It's aesthetic is beautiful, everywhere is clean, tidy, smells beautiful, etc. - the wide open spaces from the bar, to reception, to the restaurant, are all divine.
The beds are the best I've slept in, the view was gorgeous, air conditioner was easy to use, and the bathroom was heavenly.

My twins, especially my little girl, absolutely fell in love with a lady called Ana on reception (Ana Lima). She is just a ray of sunshine. She's funny, kind, was amazing with the kids, and even sat my little girl down to change her shoes when she noticed they were on the wrong feet.
She's a credit to Aloft, and genuinely made the stay better.

There were a couple of issues with the TV randomly switching off and the key card not working on my phone, but honestly, these just didn't impact how wonderful the stay was.

Perfect location for motorway links and for getting into/around Birmingham. Parking is available at Millenium Point car park, felt incredibly safe and very reasonably priced too.

I don't know the area as I've only been here twice, utilita arena is about 15 mins walk in the city centre from Aloft and I don't drive so can't help you on car parks, I've stayed at the Malmaison which is nearer and a better hotel, enjoy yourself :)
