Hotel is situated in a quiet neighbourhood and a short walk from the city centre. Offers good value and check in was straightforward. We expected the room to be small, but probably was smaller than we anticipated. There is no space to put things away (e.g. drawers/wardrobe) and this would most likely be a problem if you were staying any...

Stayed here for 2 nights. Room was very small and windows did not open. Decor was nice but basic. Room was cleaned and in tidy. Good price but very small and cramped conditions. Would be more suitable for one person not two!

We stayed here for a night and found the hotel was a bit or a walk away from Center Birmingham! Resulted in getting taxis back as appose to walking! I like the idea however the rooms were literally so small and and poorly lighted. This was not good for getting ready in!When showering the whole bathroom including the toilet gets...

I had a very comfortable room overlooking Caroline Street - I paid £5 extra for a window, because I've learned from staying at NiteNite that I just won't sleep otherwise. Lovely bed, wetroom with drench shower, and extraordinarily good location. A nice touch is that they give you discount vouchers for lots of brilliant bars and restaurants nearby, including the...

We booked the Bloc hotel completely by chance as it was a good deal cheaper than the usual "budget brands". We stayed in a Vista room which was small but has everything you need! The bed was incredibly comfy and the free wifi is fast. The wet room is a bit surreal with one mirrored wall but all modern and...

Just left this excellent hotel. We booked the apartment room. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff , who offered us complementary extra hour for check out. In regards to the room it was very well thought out , it was well equipped with a kitchenette and a comfy setting area. The bedroom was spacious and the shower was...

We stayed for 2 nights whilst in Birmingham for a convention. We arrived slightly earlier than the check in time but we were told we could check in early as there was rooms available, everyone on reception was really lovely and helpful. First impressions of the room were great, we paid extra for a room with a window which was...

If you're scared of the dark then this is the hotel for you. I say this because I found it impossible to make my room dark, even using my luggage and questions to block out the light from the light above the sink (see photo below). And the light in the walkway outside the room windows was so bright that...

Dear nickthompson001, Thank you for your review and photos of BLOC Birmingham. Our rooms here at BLOC do feature blackout blinds. The blinds can be rolled down to the floor and mask the light coming from outside. Whilst the purple light is outside the living area blind, this light is blocked by the partitioning wall that separates the living room...

Stayed here for 1 night. Modern and very clean but no tea/coffee facilities but would have struggled for a place to put it as very small accomodation, everything is shoehorned in. No window in room (205) but i knew that as i was reluctant to spend an extra £5 for a window. Feels very claustrophobic. Wet room is fine and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bloc hotel is located in Birminghams Jewellery Quarter. The village atmosphere created by its cafes-bars and restaurants is complemented by the business-shopping-arts and sports facilities that are also on its doorstep. We have taken loose inspiration from Japanese pod style hotels which means much larger rooms more akin to a cabin on a luxury yacht with finishes and fittings to match. The rooms are equipped with a King Size Double Bed-luxurious linen-climate control-wet room with monsoon drench shower-Samsung 32inch led flat screen TV and high speed WIFI. Birmingham is of course a centrally located travel hub and for many of our visitors that will be the most important factor in just how quickly and conveniently they can access the motorway network-national rail and international flights. ... more   less
