The evening meal was great with fine dining at its best with wonderful staff and great value for money. The bar and ground floor areas are pleasant and comfortable. So they have all this right.

Let down by the bedroom. The bath had a great crack in it that had clearly been there for some time and either it leaked through the crack or the plug was not fitting properly because the water kept running out.
There were loose tiles on the floor and mould on the silicon in the bathroom, the window in the bedroom would not shut, luckily we could shut the curtains in order to keep the cold away.
When we told them about the bath they did agree to reduce the price of the room, however this never happened. They did say that they would look at the bath while we were having dinner, this then turned into 'when we had left'.
Would be interested to know if room 314 has a new bath!!! Management must have known that the bath was like this, after all no one cleaning the bath could have not noticed a 3" split, if they didn't then they should have!

Breakfast was well cooked, tasty, plentiful with great poached eggs. One pair of guests decided to take all the jugs of juice to their table and I would have expected the waitress to deal with this. She was easily distracted and had to deal with a mother who thought it was good for her child to spend the whole breakfast period running around the room with several boxes of cereal. The mother stood by our table to give the waitress her order and as a result the waitress confused our order and thus we had a long wait for breakfast.

It was such a shame with a few pounds spent on the bedroom the stay would have been good and they could charge more and still given good value for money.

When we left in the morning and walked to our car we noticed what looked like a tip, or where someone had been sleeping in one corner, not a good impression.

I chose this hotel for my partners birthday , on the 1st January 2020 it was close to home and a beautiful looking building .
On arrival I was very happy with my choice the hotel looks stunning and is set in lovely gardens.
Our room was equally as lovely I had chosen a superior room so that it would be in the main building as the other rooms are in a separate building. The bed was comfortable and the room had everything you could need for a night away.. Bathroom was equally as lovely if not a bit modern for the building ( could have done with being renovated to its era for that extra special wow).
I’d also booked the restaurant for a 3 course meal which was ok but didn’t leave us feeling wow, cost for a 3 course meal for 2 with a bottle of wine was around £80 .

After dinner we decided to relax in the lounge area by the bar, sitting in the comfy sofa area I was horrified to see a mouse walking around the floor!! My partner did tell the man on the desk as he walked in and is response was to move a mouse catching devise from one side of the room to the other.
This then ruined was was a lovely evening because I couldn’t settle .
Breakfast at the hotel was much nicer than the evening meal with a good selection of continental items plus the choice of a cooked option.
Over all for one nights stay with breakfast at £180 I’d say I’ve stayed in better for less,
Sadly after speaking to 2 separate people regarding our concerns about mice and emailing the hotel no one seems to be concerned

We spent three nights at the hotel during a brief (eight night) tour around England. Our room on the third level of the main building overlooked the entrance area, a lovely view, and was very comfortable for us.
The hotel is slightly quirky, being an old Tudor building with some interesting features, but we thought that this was part of the appeal. As well as the building, there are some attractive gardens and outdoor spaces for when the weather is good.
The staff of the hotel are a real asset. They are friendly, helpful and endlessly patient. Our room was serviced each day, at a time when some hotels are choosing not to service because of Covid-19. And the rest of the hotel was kept generally clean and well presented.
Each evening we ate in the dining room from the à la carte menu, since we had accepted a special stay and dine deal which was offered at the time of booking. And this turned out to be a good choice to make since the meals were imaginative, well cooked and enjoyable.
One of the reasons we booked the hotel was its proximity to Birmingham since we had planned to visit the city. This turned out to be very much easier than expected because there was a local bus service into the city from close to the hotel entrance. The car stayed at the hotel in the large car park and we went to the city.
We are very likely to return to the Castle Bromwich Hall hotel and are in fact considering spending the Christmas holiday there this year - unless Covid upsets all our plans once again!

Asked for marmalade on the first day. Second day said couldn’t find it in the store cupboard; third day the explanation was “it’s been nicked as there is a wedding this weekend”. Big no drugs sign. We stayed in the annexe. The smell of marijuana, from ground floor bedroom, was so overpowering from the entrance door to the stairs that we were all “high” before we climbed 6 steps.…! Seems as if the car park is used by people to sniff (nitrous oxide bombs in the car park - see photo). Breakfasts reheated and part cold. Took 2 days to sort out and clean the shower head… Large sign on each bedroom door to say you can’t take commercial photos. Thought this was porn shoots until reception told me that a wedding photographer requires to buy a license to take wedding photos… Regular 6.00am flights overhead and noise from the nearby road - as well as the beer wagon reversing horn at 6.30… Have fun..

I arrived a lot earlier than planned (9am). They wanted to charge £10 per hour until the time of check in (2pm) despite the room being available and hotel being empty. I was exhausted.

I paid for a Double Superior Room and was allocated a Standard Double Room.

The “Good Breakfast” as described on the Booking.com website was going to be a small brown bag of cold food (sandwiches?). Not worth the money.

The one way system implemented by the hotel was nonsensical and took a while to work out as the signage wasn’t very clear. I ended up getting lost in the grounds, trying to find my way to the car park.

Bearing in mind I’d had been travelling since 4am that morning, I got into my room a couple of hours early. I tried to sleep and was disturbed by fire alarms during three lengthy periods. No warnings given and no calls to the room about any alarm testing.

It got to around 7:30pm and I just couldn’t bring myself to stay overnight. So I checked out.

The only good things about this hotel are: free parking, the TV reception is good in the room and the shower was really decent.

I would never stay here again. Ever.

I booked a superior double room expecting a spacious double room with period decor and a bathroom with a bath.
I was given a classic double room that was clearly an out of place unused office room turned into a basic bedroom.
I rang reception and stated that I had booked a superior double room and I didn’t think I was placed in the right room, I was told they were fully booked and would knock £20 off my room rate (I’d already heard them say this to someone else on the phone whilst I checked in)
I also asked at reception if they offered room service, which they do, to then get to my room and find no menu.
The room is freezing, the window won’t shut properly so there is a constant drift coming in.
Bathroom is lovely and modern, just disappointed there was no bath like I expected.
It is not what I expected at all, I stay in Birmingham with work quite a lot now but I won’t be staying here again.

Myself and three family members booked here for the 12:30 Christmas Day lunch. I have both good and bad comments to make so I’ll start with the bad, get them over & done with and then end on a high!

We arrived to a very warm welcome and were told punch & mince pies were waiting. Mince pies BEFORE dinner?? Bit odd. Anyway couldn’t see them anywhere - must’ve been in another room! We sat down pretty quickly as we had two disabled people dining with us.

Drinks came quite quickly as did each course. We all thought the portion size of the main meal was a bit meagre; no roast parsnips and one very tiny (the smallest I have ever seen) pig in blanket. Veggies came in a separate dish so we could all take what we wanted. Although I prefer fairly crunchy veg, we all thought these veg were just on the very hard side. I had chocolate brownie for dessert which was more like a chocolate sponge but the ice cream was gorgeous and I ate it all anyway as it tasted very nice irrespective.

Bit of an odd thing with the cheeseboard - we waited and waited but in the end I had to ask (it was listed on the menu). I hadn’t seen anyone else being given the cheeseboard at all. The chap looked a bit taken aback when I asked and I reckon they had to go & milk the cow before actually making the cheese, it took so long, but what came was acceptable. Nothing to write home about, a very basic cheeseboard, one between two, with no butter for the crackers and not nearly enough crackers to go around. Could have been so much better because the cheese was a very nice selection & very tasty. Seemed like it had been rushed & not put together properly.

Despite all these niggles, we did enjoy the food and we had a very nice time. It’s just a shame that some things could have been so much better with not much extra effort to be honest. We were asked literally about 8 times during our meal if everything was ok. Seemed a bit over the top, but I’d rather be asked too often than not at all. What I liked about this Christmas Day lunch was that each table was served at its own pace rather than the whole room being served each course all at the same time.

This building is beautiful and the Great Hall is such a lovely room to have Christmas Day lunch in. This place has everything it needs to be a superb choice for Christmas, but some really small (and odd) things let it down. Hopefully next Christmas will be better!

What can I say....the first room in the attic of the Brew House had rodents having a party in the ceiling at 1am, add to this a bathroom with black mould badly painted over. The next room had a lovely bathroom but the inevitable dirty net curtains and drapes hanging off the rails.
As for the food...fortunately the bar food was mostly ok but how can bought in wedges of Brie be consistently served cold and hard in the middle. Spinach and ricotta tortellini which was swimming in what resembled tasteless watered down cream.
Rae in reception was always pleasant but the same can’t be said for some of the other staff.
I certainly won’t ever go back.

Booked this hotel for a over night stay before flying from Birmingham airport on the 4th of February so checked in on the 3rd of Feb just before 3pm, we drove our lovely ford Kuga just over a year old and parked it in the main car park along the side of a big wall so it wasn't visible from the road and facing security cameras. We got our over night bags out and checked in filling in our car details along with other details on the check-in form and then signed it, we made our way to the room which was facing the main entrance and we could see our car as I do on holiday I took my phone and snapped some shots of the view from our room which would be vital later on. The room wasn't up to much for the price cracks in the walls paint damage windows had seen better days but been an old hall I said it was one of those things to my wife and dismissed it. We had left our holiday suitcases and our flight bags in the car so I asked my wife to fetch them in but we were put on the top floor of the hotel so with myself been disabled she said it would be ok this is the first time we have ever left our laugage in our car in the 25 years of travel. I needed the paperwork to check in on line so my wife did go and get my hand case at 3.40pm, after I had checked in we went back to our car for our coats as we had booked a table out of the hotel for a meal it was a 5min walk so off we went, we got back at around 6.30pm as we were flying in the morning and had to be at the airport at 7am we went to bed. Next morning we were up and ready and down for 6.30am for check out and our taxi I went to where my car had been left and to my horror our car had gone I checked around no sign, no broken glass, we went in and the hotel reception called the manger she didn't answer and she kept trying. She eventually called the police they didn't come out we just got a crime number. The manger finally turned up some 2 hours later well if you can call her a manger, myself and wife had been sat in reception for all that time making calls no privacy my wife was devastated and had some tears which was hard in front of people checking out for there flights. The first words from the manger were so you must be the couple no introduction from her then I'm in a meeting in 5mins so I'll look at the CCTV later on and with that she walked off. We sat there another 1.30 hours before we managed to get a car from our insurance in this time the manger was useless seamed not to care, I asked the reception if this had happened before and to my horror and shock came the reply, well yes another before yours this year and we had loads last year. The car came the manger then had finished her meetings the ones more important than a customer's car, and ask me for my phone number email and promised to contact us that afternoon with details of the CCTV we are still waiting for here phone call her email or any other contact from her despite our some 5 phone calls to the hotel she is busy she is off she anything but there well thank you castle Bromwich hall for a week of hell, all the upset, so be warned anyone looking at this hotel it looks lovely online the website is amazing but read the other reviews first please please. Well I've had the police report and the CCTV is unwatchable when our car is taken the security barriers are up all night and the 24 hour security man must of been asleep all night so I'm beginning to think someone knows something here. We couldn't get our flight because all my medication had gone as well and this is very important to my life, let alone everything we had for a week to wear. This hotel has a high crime rate and bad reviews on trip advisor
