Stayed at The Clayton for a couple of nights. Location is very good for Selfridges and the Bullring is just a few minutes walk away.
Parking is on a multi-storey again a few minutes walk away, the hotel can activate the ticket so it only cost £11 for the 2 nights (flat rate of £11).
The room was fairly small but adequate for 2 nights. Room was very clean and bed was comfy.
The wardrobe was very small however, would be good to have somewhere to hang coats.
The room has tea/coffee facilities (and biscuits) and a safe. The safe is on the bottom shelf of one of the cupboards with no lighting in the cupboard. I had to kneel on the floor with my phone torch to access the safe.
Bathroom had a shower and small toiletries. Hairdryer, ironing board and iron are also available in the room.
Breakfast was nice (buffet) with lots of options, staff were constantly topping up the food. Newspapers were available at breakfast.
We also had dinner in the restaurant, food was very nice and good service.

I travel all around UK on business invloving ususally multiple hotels stays in many cities
I can honeslty say this is one of the very best from the moment of entry to deaprture
The reception staff are very friendly and professional and they genuinely listen to your views . I was impressed by the stringent COVID measures taken yet they did not affect my enjoyment of the place but I felt safe nonetheless
The rooms are spacios ( double ) high quality decor and a bathroom for perfect showers and essentials. Also I like well ventialted rooms for sleep and this was easily adjisted im fussy about these things
The decor of the dining area is warm and intimate having been extensively redecorated since my last visit
The staff make the expericence however they are so helpful attentive and friendly
No idea who the chef is but the food is top class
I like gym and meetings rooms I used were very good for my multiple meetings
Catriona the manager runs the place superbly for guests benefit more than anything She personally deals with issues herself which is refreshing
Overall my go to place in Birmingham

Arrived on Saturday due to the building work in the center of Birmingham went round the center twice before we got to the car-park in Selfridges.
The hotel foyer is very attractive, with large comfy chairs and a light studded tree which is stunning in the evenings.
The room was well appointed with a large king size bed, the bathroom was immaculate the view was a little sad as we were looking over the building site for HS2 but the staff who were all friendly and very attentive made up for this especially Charlotte always smiling happy and helpful.
The food in the restaurant was very good we were seated quickly and served equally as fast the food arrived promptly and was hot my wife had chicken wings with sweet chili sauce stunning. I can recommend the Cumberland sausage with mash it had dollops of rich red wine gravy which was lovely.
The breakfast was very good served promptly and really filling, the afternoon tea which was on special offer was simply stunning a plate of sandwiches with various fillings, and bread sticks with a humus dip and chutney, two scones with jam and cream, and an array of small cakes tasty and very filling., so filling we were to full to have dinner.
Finally a lovely hotel, great food and excellent staff, a great break, I would recommend it to everyone.

Under renovation with limited access however this hotel has much potential and once completed will be a cracking location
My wife and I had a very nice stay the rooms are modern and we stayed on the top (7) floor with a great view of the bull ring.
Staff were very helpful
We had a dinner package
We paid an extra £10 each to access the full menu it started well and the starters were nice and Presented well. We had fillet steak which for a 10 ounce at a (full menu price of £29) was very small and I had to return mine because it was a poor cut and chewy and very fatty not what you expect of a medium rare fillet.
I decided as I was hungry to have apple crumble for desert for £7.50 ( included in our deal) I would not expect it to be cold in the middle and served in a cheap IKEA bowl it lacked presentation and thought for a hotel trying to offer premium food I could have had better for a couple of quid in a cheap chain restaurant.
All the staff were great and our waitress for the evening was fantastic her name was Paulette and she could not do enough to make our experience a good one. Hotel Needs improvement.

We paid just over £120 for a standard double room for a saturday night. We could have gone cheaper with the likes of a travelodge or similar but we figured this might be of a slightly higher standard. The location was spot on however, five minute walk to the Bullring, so I imagine that's why it's a little more expensive because actually the quality of the rooms was quite disappointed. Bedside lamps not working, quite a bad stain on the wall, carpets well worn, decor very dated. Having said all that it was super quiet when we went to bed, no noise disturbance at all and the bed was very comfortable.
Bathroom was probably the best bit. Clean and appeared more modern than the bedroom.
We probably wouldnt stay here again just becuase there are so many other hotels to choose from.

Dear JoandDarren2016, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We really appreciate your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay overall. I am disappointed to read that the cleanliness of the room did not live up to the high standards we pride ourselves in and would like to sincerely apologise about that. We are currently undergoing an extension with 44 brand new bedrooms along side of this we will be having new carpets throughout the hotel so hopefully if we get the chance to welcome you back in the future we will be able to hopefully leave you with more of a positive impact on our hotel. With Kind Regards, Jessica

Stayed 20.02.20 for one night as part of a groupon deal. Paid an extra 23 pound on arrival for a surprise balloon ,rose petals and happy birthday wrote in chocolate on a plate for my partner. well worth the it as my partner was overwhelmed when we entered the room.
Rooms were lovely very clean and comfortable. Bath room was lovely and the shower was gorgeous. The room was well equipped with coffee/tea.
Evening meal was really nice. A 3 course meal with a glass of prosecco (which we swapped for a glass of house white) portions a little on the small side but they always are with these kind of 3 course meals but the food was lovely and cooked well! The breakfast on the other hand is amazing and plentiful. Loads of choice hot and cold. We were really impressed with the breakfast. Gets quite busy but that didnt bother us it was still a nice atmosphere.
Drinks were good and the cocktails were 2 for 12 pound up until 10pm.
The bar lady was lovely and made sum great cocktails she was really nice and mare us feel comfortable. In fact all the staff we came across were lovely all of them were welcoming and made our staff very nice!
The hotel also offers the use of a gym with your groupn deal.we didnt use it
but its worth a try. there is a nice balcony area leading off the bar with a nice seating area (not a great view due to building work opposite).
The hotel is very pretty with some lovely decorations. After our meal we chose to sit down stairs under a lit up tree and have a few drinks it was very romantic an calming.
We would recommend to couples young and old.

I have stayed in the Clayton Hotel since September 2020, for work purposes. The staff are fantastic, very attentive and can’t do enough to help you during your stay.
The rooms are well equipped, with comfy beds and are immaculately clean.
With COVID 19, the hotel have great processes in place to ensure the safety of their guests and themselves. There are plenty of hand sanitiser stations around, food bought in the hotel has the option of collection or room service and rooms are sealed after cleaning until guests are allocated the room.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

I was suppose to go with another family member who wasn't well enough to travel. The hotel is a 6 minute walk from the station and the Bull Ring shopping centre. On arrival I was told the new Covid rules, breakfast had to be booked (time slot) and room would be cleaned after visit which wasn't a problem as it was only me, however if I (you) need anything you let reception know i.e. toilet paper etc. I was given a complimentary drink at the bar which I sat and enjoyed. The room was clean and pleasant, Lovely bathroom with a nice large shower with plenty of hot water. The next morning I had breakfast, you start of with table service of tea or coffee (pot) then cereal if you want, mini fruit salad pots and a cooked breakfast, plus Danish pastry, a nice selection of breakfast items. I didn't miss the help yourself buffet breakfast at all. My only criticism is the person serving the hot breakfast had his mask by his chin but all the waiting staff wore their mask correctly. Pleasant reception and waiting staff. Lots to do in the area if you like shopping and eating. Despite being on my own I had a lovely time.

Went for afternoon tea 25th Jan, my daughter won this through a Facebook like and share. Really disappointed, we were the only ones there for about 20 mins, then around 10 people turned up. The waiter knew nothing about us coming and the Facebook win and thought we had a Groupon Voucher. When we showed him the email, we were sat in a settee outside the restaurant, as were all the others, some were on tables over looking reception with a draught. The restaurant was empty, there was no atmosphere and the waiter was the only person dealing with everything. We could have all been seated in the restaurant which would have been a much better experience. Food wise, you were given 4 finger sandwiches made from 2 pieces of normal bread, a dip which should have been accompanied by Brioche croutons, but we got normal baked bread cut into small triangles. That's it for the savoury part. We then had 2 plain cold hard scones with jam and what seemed like squirty cream, definatey not clotted cream as the menu stated. Then 4 small triangular pieces of cake. After eating one of the scones we asked for a box to take away the remaining cakes. The waiter said we could wrap them in foil and have a bag. He literally bought over a piece of foil so we could wrap them up, it was embarrassing. Any other restaurant would have taken them into the kitchen to wrap. Finally, a man came and sat in the settee opposite us, he took out his phone and charger and plugged it in. Then he went to sleep. No one asked him to leave he didn't purchase a drink or food, it wasn't at all a great experience. Good job we didn't have to pay £19.99 each! Definatey not worth the money, I would not recommend this. Hotel did look lovely though they just don't know how to deliver a great customer experience, such a shame,

It’s a good hotel, great location but lots of building work going on making it difficult to find the entrance if you’ve never been before. Spar shop a few steps from the entrance for anything forgotten.

We stayed here on a Wednesday evening and paid £73 including Breakfast - book direct for an extra £10 off that you cant get even with third party offers on other sites.

The reception area is elegant and tasteful, staff on reception helpful.

Room was very small for a family room, very little space to move even between the beds, and these were permanent beds, not Z / Pop up ones. TV wouldn’t work, we were told this was a hotel wide issue and they had no idea when it would be fixed. It wasn’t sorted the next morning, and when we nipped to the shop there were multiple people complaining about it. There were touchscreen controls for lighting and room temperature; room temperature did nothing despite changing it, assume it had been taken over centrally and we had no idea how to work the light ones (numbered 1-4, didn’t do there same thing consistently), and we consider ourselves tech savvy.

Breakfast service was fast with a good choice, portions small and seemed slightly rushed but acceptable all around. Checkout through the web portal smooth.
