Hotel Du Vin & Bistro Birmingham is celebrated for its top-notch amenities, with guests frequently lauding the comfortable and well-appointed rooms, exquisite cuisine, and the staff's attentive service. Nestled in a central location, the hotel offers easy access to the city's business hubs, shopping, and entertainment, as noted by many travelers.

Detailed Reviews

Today we visited the Bistro at the hotel and can’t recommend it highly enough. We booked the 3 course Birmingham Restaurant Festival menu and were highly impressed. All of the courses were delicious with large and filling portions. Our server Ben was friendly, helpful and attentive. He gave us recommendations for sides and accompaniments which were perfect. We liked that it was a nice chilled experience with time to allow each course to settle before the next course was brought out not like some restaurants where the courses are brought out like a conveyer belt. We had the promotional menu today but from looking at the menu the normal prices are reasonable for the standard and quantity of food that you receive. The Sunday lunches looked amazing!! We had never visited before today but will definitely return. Thank you to Ben and the team.

We had an amazing one night stay at this amazing hotel. I had stayed once previously on business but on this occasion we were staying for my husbands birthday. The location is perfect, in the heart of the business district which feels very upmarket, but a short walk from the shops and 12 minutes from the Hippodrome theatre.
Service from everyone we encountered at the hotel was wonderful - friendly and accommodating. They made us feel very welcome and looked after.
Delighted to be upgraded to a suite (Penfolds) with the biggest, comfiest bed we’ve ever seen! It was such a treat and we were only sad not to be staying longer!
Water pressure is fantastic in the hotel which is usually my biggest bugbear staying away as I like a hot, powerful shower. Ended up having a bath and a shower as the roll top bath was too tempting! L’Occitaine toiletries too, lush!
We had champagne cocktails in the bar that were delicious. Breakfast the next morning was out of this world! The absolute best avocado toast, poached eggs and bacon that I’ve ever had. The cold buffet selection was great too.
We parked at the B4 car park which was just 5 minutes away and the hotel validate your license plate for a substantial discount.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel and we will definitely stay again next time we visit Birmingham. Thank you everyone at HotelDu Vin!

Comfortable bed but it was starting to fall apart so looked tatty. The toilet definitely needed a good clean, there was only one bottle of water when two people were staying and the carpet was vacuumed but needed cleaning. The curtains weren’t working properly and need to be looked at. I don’t mind the price we paid but in order for it to be worth it the management need to double check their rooms.

This is a good quality hotel and perfect for celebrating an occasion. We came to celebrate my birthday, so paid for a slightly larger room.
The welcome was friendly and quick and we were pleased to find a large room with an impressively large bathroom. The roll top bath and huge shower were definitely the wow factors (though there were some paint scuffs in the bathroom which maintenance need to get on top of). The hospitality tray was well stocked and we were pleased to find dressing gowns, slippers and an iron and ironing board. No fridge though, which in a hotel of this standard, we found quite surprising.
We paid for breakfast and found the range quite pleasing. There are pastries, yoghurts and granola available alongside an a la carte hot menu. All food we had was delicious, but notably no beans or hashbrowns/potatoes with the full cooked.
The only downside was there were two sources of noise which plagued our sleep: one, noise from the bars on the street lasted way into the night with shouting and loud base music pumping until after midnight. The second, from the door right outside our room which slammed shut everytime someone walked through it...so fierce was the bang that it rattled our room door, so we had to prop our luggage against it to try to soften the noise a little. Hence, my title: "bring earplugs". In a room so noisy, the hotel should consider supplying them. That, or make the corridor doors soft close if possible.
Also, the bed, though huge with good quality linen and pillows, wasn't the comfiest: it was quite hard and there were springs beginning to poke through and it dipped heavily in the middle. Nothing a turn of the mattress and a decent topper wouldn't sort.
I am used to awarding top marks for hotels of this calibre, but this one fell short in some places, so four it is.

I had my birthday here booked by my partner he and the staff went out of their way to make my experience so special!
Their receptionist Stef Is a credit to the team and genuinely delivered some of the best customer service I’ve ever experienced.
Personable and professional, a lovely welcome to our stay.
I stay at the hotel du vin chain of hotels quite a lot and I have to say this might just tip it as one of my favourite of the lot.
The suite we stayed in was so beautifully decorated, the bed was comfortable the sofas too.
Casting Streaming apps to the TV was really easy And when it was time I had one of the nicest baths before one of the soundest sleeps After spraying my pillow with the sleep mist provided in the room.
It bares mentioning that the l'occitane body wash and bath bombs in the room smell incredible, they’re the same products used across the chain but they really make the experience feel very luxe.
The breakfast in the morning absolutely delicious smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough toast, I ate in bed. The food arrived the perfect temperature. The eggs were beautifully cooked. The whole experience was a 10 out of 10.

All the staff we met were lovely and friendly. Hotel nice and cosy, good sized room although I was a little concerned about the steps leading down to the bathroom and was a little worried I might fall going to the bathroom in the night, the bed was comfortable but quite short, we are not tall. There were plenty of sockets which was handy and there was a light in the wardrobe that lit up when you opened the door.
The main door to the hotel was heavy and I found it awkward to use.
The main disappointment was the breakfast and while pleasant enough didn't warrant the £24 price charged and if I'm paying that money I want my drinks brought to me.
Overall though a good stay and would probably return if we go back to Birmingham.

In Birmingham for work, chose the Hotel du Vin because of previous experiences.
My stay was great from the moment I checked in, until I checked out.
Every staff member I encountered were professional in every way.
Breakfast wasn't served until 7am, but I asked was it possible to have mine early due to leaving for work earlier. This request wasn't an issue at all. Each morning my breakfast was delivered by a friendly staff member.
The drink voucher scheme for going 'Green' is a great idea.
Great spacious room with a great bathroom. Probably one of the best showers I've ever had.
Both bar / pub were fine.
My only grumbles would be the drainage while taking a shower / using the sink basin needs looking into.
The lighting in the bathroom could be brighter (for shaving).
The mattress was too soft for my liking (personal thing I know).
The shower screen leaked while taking a shower.
Great location with everything on your doorstep. Can be quite noisy during the night, due to bin lorries, members of the public etc... but that's not the hotel's fault.
Overall, a lovely stay in a lovely hotel. Fantastic staff members, nothing was too much. Great towels / bedding etc....
Would highly recommend.

This is my fourth visit to this hotel. It’s a beautiful hotel, situated close to the centre. Ideal for the German Christmas market. I have visited other times in the year. The staff are lovely, really helpful and nothing too much trouble. We asked for Long Island ice teas in the bar and they didn’t hesitate to make them even though not on the menu. Room service was excellent and the food brought was great. We stayed in the Beringer room which was really lovely, complete with walk in monsoon shower. The only down side to this room is it’s on the first floor and right about the bubble bar. It must be the noisiest room in the hotel, the constant banging of the door and the music. This goes on till the early hours. Didn’t get to sleep till nearly 3am. The next night the same. I called reception who dealt with the banging very quickly, great , but 6am the banging and music started up, which I can only imagine was the cleaners. I had a long drive back to London that morning. I do love this hotel but would ask to stay on the 2nd floor or higher in future.

Popped in from a heavy downpour during their breakfast service. I had an appointment for somewhere else but was a bit early. I asked if I could just have a coffee, even though I wasn’t staying with them as a guest.
I was seated in their beautiful dining room. When I got up to leave and pay I was told no charge for the coffee, the waiter Dimitru said he had seen that when I had come in that I was soaked to the skin. Such a kind gesture and really appreciated.
Both Dimitru and Leniqua were wonderful hosts.
We visit Birmingham a few times a year and I will make sure we stay with them next time.
Your kindness meant so much to me.
Thank you for the wonderful experience, it won’t be forgotten.

So to add context this was a 60th birthday event including hotel stay (so big shout out to Colleen from events for such amazing organisation)
Check in was smooth and I met Ben and some of his team who made sure all my requests were taken care of.
We then went downstairs to the cellar for a private wine tasting for 4. I have been to a real tastings in and around the city but this one was by far the BEST! Ben is incredibly knowledgable, the selection of wine was amazing, and the conversation was 2-way, not just a list of facts for each wine. Ben’s enthusiasm and passion was infectious and it was a literal journey through old world and new. Ambience was sublime. Decor is amazing. 10/10
We were then taken upstairs where the rest of the family was waiting to have a surprise champagne reception. The transmission was smooth and Ben and the team really worked hard to make the surprise magical (for my father, whose birthday it was).
Then the private dining room! Incredible! The set up was amazing and all the drinks were there waiting. Food queries were dealt with. Ben, who had paid close attention to one of my throw away comments about wine, then upgraded the bottles for the table to superior wines specially chosen based on preference. Such a simple touch yet it had such a big impact. The food was delicious and they were patient with the 2 and 3 year old children who were doing what children do (causing chaos). No faults with the dining element. 10/10.
We all then stayed in the hotel, all the rooms were spotless. The suite for my dad had been decorated and the bed was the biggest I have ever seen. Reception staff were amazing amending some of the bed set ups for the family and no request felt too much. Overnight stay 10/10.
I cannot express enough thanks to the staff for helping me make my dad’s 60th birthday so magical. I will certainly be hosting events here again.
Ps. Thank you Ben for letting me know what wine glasses we used!
