Myself and my friend arrived late in the evening and were welcomed at the front desk by the friendly staff. The rooms were spacious and very clean, beds were very comfy there is a big TV and a choice of two pillows (soft or hard). The next day we had a guest coming to stay with us and requested a sofa bed, the reception staff were happy to accommodate this and arranged for us to move rooms. Breakfast is topped up regularly so everything is fresh and is served from 7.30-11.30. The location of the hotel is perfect about a 5-10 min walk into the Bullring Shopping Centre. We parked our car in the B4 car park where you get a 55% discount voucher from the hotel reception - the car park is safe and only about a 3 min walk from the hotel. Overall our stay was very pleasant and we will be returning here when we next visit Birmingham.

We stayed at this hotel as we were going to a gig at the Birmingham Arena.

Snow Hill station was a 2 minute walk and both Birmingham Arena and New Street station were approximately a 20 minute walk away.

The rooms are very much as you’d expect from a budget chain hotel – clean and comfortable with the usual facilities of tea & coffee, ensuite shower, TV and free Wi-Fi. Unfortunately the heating in the room wasn't working but someone came up quickly to look at this and we were given the option of moving room or a portable heater as it couldn't be resolved and were also offered a complimentary drink at the bar.

Breakfast was included and was a simple buffet style with choice of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, bread and hot items including bacon, sausage, beans and egg and you could order special dietary requirements such as veggie sausage/sugar free museli etc.

If we come back to Birmingham again in the future we would consider staying here again as it was a reasonable price with breakfast included which the other budget options don’t do!

Hi there, DLF12! Thanks for choosing us for your lodging needs in Birmingham. While most of the aspects of your stay went well, and you found our location to be ideal for the gig that you attended, I'm sorry there was an issue with the room's heating. I've brought this to Housekeeping's attention as reference for improvements. I hope we get the chance to host you again in the future! Best, Pam G Case Manager IHGService

It was a last minute idea thought we would go and surprise some family this was one of the closest hotels to where they lived.
What was great was.
1 The location :- near major routes easy to find.
2 Had free car parking no hassle
3 Included a full cooked Breakfast tea coffee fruit toast juice etc Help Yourself ! !
4 The Price was better than many hotels in the area and they did not include breakfast or parking FREE.
5 Ease of booking online
6 The room was more than adequate for what we wanted and is ideal for short stays one or 2/3 nights good en-suite comfortable bed
7 The Staff were most helpful and the prices at the bar were reasonable too.

So if any of the above ticks for you visiting or stopping off for a short stay then this is ideal. Oh local taxis are good prices too and there is a direct line in the reception area.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for one night as we were spending our anniversary in Birmingham. We arrived around 2pm and were greeted with a warm welcome. The young man that checked us in was very helpful and polite and gave us a later check out time and a free drink for our anniversary😁 the hotel location was good, only a 5 minute walk into the town to do some shopping. The hotel was very clean throughout and the bar had a good selection of drinks - and gins! We had to get an Uber to the bars at night and that only cost us £4 which is a lot cheaper than a taxi at home. Breakfast was very good, good selection of hot and cold foods. I would of liked to have seen hash browns on the breakfast menu though even if it meant we could pay extra. All in all we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return! Thankyou very much holiday inn!

It is commendable that hotel stayed open during 2nd lockdown, to cater for business travellers. However, in a couple of areas the standard was just not good enough.

The food was, frankly, abysmal. I appreciate there was a limited menu on offer but what was served up was barely edible.

Here was the real issue. Due to staff shortages room was only cleaned once a week. Surely, during a lockdown cleanliness is main priority? I know the number of guests were drastically reduced but this doesn't mean cleanliness should be neglected.

On a positive note staff were helpful. Difficult times and they did their best. Room was a decent size, so no complaints there.

Dear Andrew, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. Feedback from our guests is extremely important to us as it helps us understand hoe our guests are feeling about staying in hotels at this challenging time. I am sorry that you experienced some issues with food & beverage during your stay and hope that you were able to share your concerns with the team during your visit. Regarding room cleaning, we are finding that each guest has their own personal feelings about how often they require their rooms to be cleaned during their stay. We are trying to be as flexible as possible to suit all requirements. Some guests want to have their rooms cleaned every day of their stay to keep on top of cleanliness, whilst others prefer no one to enter their room during their visit to reduce the possibility of the spread of the virus. Our housekeeping team are available seven days a week and are happy to service rooms as often or as little as each guest require. We ask guests to let us know how often they would like the rooms to be serviced throughout their stay. We are sorry that your room was not serviced as often as you would have liked during your visit. Please be assured that I will be sharing your feedback with our team to help us improve the services we offer. Kind Regards Jo

Decent business hotel for a one nighter, but ad with HIs, poor breakfast. Adulterated scrambled eggs (almost white) and cheap, nasty sausages labelled “Cumberland”’ a downright lie as they are not Cumberland sausages. Will hotels please stop doing this? It damages small regional businesses. Real Cumberland sausage is a delight. Juicy and very high in pork content. The trash dished out in hotels would make strangers to this regional treat wonder what the fuss is about.

Had 2 nights away with a friend. We arrived just after 20.00 on the Friday evening greeted by friendly staff on reception. Told the restaurant was open until 22.00 and the bar would be open until 4 am!! Our room was clean and well presented. With a TV and tea and coffee and clean sheets.
Our 1st morning we made a hot drink and went down for breakfast. Fairly good selection.
After a day out, we came back, I put my phone on charge, put the kettle on and made a cuppa. Then noticed my phone wasn't charging. It turns out the sockets weren't working. Reception did sort it.
We ate in the restaurant, but as we were ordering the man serving us was told the kitchen was closing, barring pizzas. But our food would be cooked for us, the time was 20.30!!! Food wasn't great!!
Next morning same thing happened again with the plug sockets, no tea 😟. Reception did bring up 2 mugs of tea. But perhaps they could have either replaced the kettle or moved is to another room

The care of the guests by staff in this hotel was great. It needed to be. As a person with a mobility issue, I booked an accessible room. The room I had was not very clean and the bed was under the window. The room itself had two concrete outside walls and was not easy to heat. It was freezing cold - warmer in the corridor...
In the dining area, the food was on an raised level. The platform for getting from the floor to the food area was obscured by the food rack for dirty dishes etc so couldn’t be used without disrupting the whole breakfast area. Access was by a set of steep steps. No secure area in the room for meds. They had significant issues with room temperatures. Many people need access in a hotel - with heavy luggage, pregnancy, buggies, small children and those with mobility disabilities. I was assured this is being reviewed. In my case, I got moved to another room and given an extra heater. The room was warm and clean. It was like being in a different hotel! It had a walk-in shower, which was ok for me, but not a wheelchair user. I have to say that the staff on duty during my stay really did try to help and make my stay comfortable and did discuss issues I had. On the plus side, it has great wifi.

I stayed for 2 nights with my dad as we were in Birmingham to watch the football. We arrived into Snow Hill station and the hotel is a couple of minute’s walk away, but that’s probably the best thing about it.

Check in was initially quick and smooth but we’d booked a room with a double bed and a sofa bed, and when we arrived to the room the sofa bed was not made up. I phoned reception to be told if it wasn’t made up it was because it couldn’t be, and the hotel was fully booked so they couldn’t offer us another room and on their system I hadn’t booked that room type (I booked via Hotels.com). I explained that I was staying with my dad and wasn’t going to share a bed with him and was then offered a twin, although when I got to reception to collect the new room key the manager said couldn’t be done and she’d come and make up the sofa bed in our original room instead. She came up and realised that their wasn’t a mattress on the sofa bed and indeed it couldn’t be made up, so we were finally given a twin room.

The twin room we got was a bit grotty. It smelt incredibly damp (we were hit by a wave of it every time we came in) and was really warm when we got there. The air con didn’t do much to fix it. But it was apparent that all rooms were of this level so we accepted it as it was a two night stay.

We only bothered with breakfast on the first morning as it was chaotic and limited… hot items ran out as soon as they were put out and there were long queues for everything (even a coffee). The only hot items available were scrambled egg, beans, sausage and bacon, so not much on offer for vegetarians.

They did keep our bags in a storage room for us for a few hours after we’d checked out which was appreciated, but I definitely wouldn’t stay again and wouldn’t recommend it - there are lots of other hotels at a similar price that are probably worth a try instead.
