I stayed for two nights at Hanger Down House and enjoyed one of the most comfortable and relaxing stays I have ever experienced. Alison, the hostess, was wonderful and looked after myself well. I arrived at the guest house over an hour earlier than I had indicated; not a problem for Alison who welcomed me warmly.
I had the room on the ground floor which I would describe more as a suit than a room. It was very spacious with a large, comfortable sofa, sizable desk and chair, wardrobe and drawers, television and fridge. The bed was large and extremely comfortable with beautiful pillows and fresh linen. I enjoyed my best sleep for some time.
The en suite bathroom was very modern with fresh towels, loads of toiletries and a large shower which was easily adjustable.
Hanger Down House is surrounded by large, green gardens with trees; there are tables and chairs on the patio for guests to use. The breakfast area is very comfortable. I chose the full English which kept me going all day. Perfectly prepared and a very generous helping. Cereals are available and large cafitieres of coffee are served. One could not ask for any more!
I cannot recommend Hanger Down House and Alison's hosting highly enough. The hotel is a few minutes drive from the centre of Arundel and is walkable in 25 minutes. Parking is available. For a quiet, comfortable stay, you cannot go wrong!

Lovely little B&B within a quiet & secluded area with lots surrounding greenery.
The room was extremely clean with lovely fresh linen (nothing nicer than lovely smelling bedding & towels). It had everything you could possibly need for your stay.
I had a lovely restful sleep, despite the thunderstorms during the night.
There was a wide selection available at breakfast, with each table already perfectly set out for each guest, with great attention to detail. I had the full English, which plentiful & delicious!
Alison is really lovely & a great host. Very attentive & hospitable.
I booked here this to attend a nearby retreat which unfortunately, I had to cut short, but would have loved to have stayed longer & will definitely return when next in Arundel!
Thank you for a lovely stay, Alison! X

What an amazing 3 roomed guest house\b&b, full of warmth and with the friendliest of hosts!!!
Alison our host was very accomodating during our stay, always making us feel right at home and full of local knowledge and personal recommendations of where to eat.
One of her recommendations was a wonderful Italian restaurant 5min away in Arundel called La Campania. Wow, what great food and service! We went on the Thursday night, which was their steak night! Two courses for £19.99 + a supplement if you opted for the 14oz t-bone! Make sure to book well in advance because it was very popular! If you fancy a take-away, then I would recommend India Gate. Mybwife and I ate there twice during our three night stay at Hanger Down! Alison was very accommodating, letting us bring the take away back and eat it downstairs in the breakfast room. Very useful when we had come back from a long day exploring the area and looking at potential houses. The room we had for our stay was on the first floor to the left of the stairs. There was a very spacious shower, good heat from the water and bathroom had plenty of room to place your toiletries. We had a large open room with lots of storage from lovely dressers and bedside tables. There is also a decent sized fridge in the room, so you can bring your own drinks and milk if needed. There is also a cloakroom in the room for anything you need to hang up. A nice comfy sofa also made the room very nice and cosy! Other nice touches were a fan and also a portable heater.
Brrakfast was generally served between 7-9am and Alison provided a top notch cooked breakfast. There is cereal available and also toast with eggs if a cooked breakfast isn't your thing.
Over all we couldn't fault Hanger Down, it was everything we needed, friendly host, great location (5min from Arundel Town), spacious and well thought out rooms. We will most definately be back to stay, and we will recommend our friends and family to stay here if in the area.

We have stayed here for several years and have always received the warmest welcome from Alison. Nothing is too much trouble and the whole feel of the place makes you feel so relaxed. The garden is a lovely quiet place to sit it in and the breakfasts are amazing.

A lovely B&B in a secluded location just 5 minutes from the centre of Arundel. Our room had everything we could want, including loads of character and a fabulous view over the enormous garden area, which is also available for guests. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and there were plenty of choices. The hostess Alison was warm, welcoming and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it highly.

We stayed 4 nights in the Duke Superior room. A lovely large room with views over the countryside. And a wonderful power shower to boot. Alison was a very welcoming host, friendly, chatty & knowledgeable about the area. Every morning there was fruit, juices, yogurts & cereal laid out followed by a delicious full english breakfast cooked by our host. Definitely recommend & would love to return. Thank you.

Visited for a two day break and despite the weather we had a great time. Situated in a lovely rural location it was a pleasant half hour stroll into Arundel. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and the room was spacious, warm and extremely well equipped, with an iron, ironing board and hairdryer as well as all the usual requirements. Breakfast was great with plenty of fruit, cereal and a wonderful cooked full English. I can't praise this B & B enough and will definitely visit again

This is an excellent small b&b in a superb location just outside the beautiful town of Arundel. My room upstairs was well equipped, it even had a small fridge which came in handy on a warm evening. The hosts were friendly and helpful, the cooked breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended.

Firstly I want to start with the positives. This is a beautiful B&B in a beautiful part of the world. It's family owned and run and you can tell the care and effort that goes into looking after guests. The room was lovely, the bed comfortable and the breakfast superb. There is a nice big garden area and Arundel is such a lovely place to explore - we even found a great second hand record shop.
However, there was a negative. The noise. On top of the hustle and bustle of other guests coming and going (which is obviously to be expected) there is a shower pump that serves the two top rooms. This means that any time someone in the other room decides to have a shower, or indeed doesn't switch the shower off fully, the pump will make a very loud noise. If they choose to do this at an irregular time of day, it can ruin your stay. During our first night, the pump went off around 11.30pm - waking us up with a jolt and meaning we found it hard to get back to sleep.
The main reason for this review is to show all the positives of this lovely place but also explain the possibility of being woken late at night or early in the morning - as I didn't see this in other reviews and if I had then we probably wouldn't have booked.

I’m quite sad that you wrote this review as you acknowledged that you yourself hadn’t turned the shower off fully. Your 2nd night was back to the silence and tranquility all the previous reviewers have ever mentioned over the many years and what future customers have yet to enjoy
