The Norfolk Arms hotel has a wealth of history and heritage. It’s a charming Georgian Coaching Inn, built over 200 years ago by the 10th Duke of Norfolk. It soon became the local meeting place and a popular resting spot for weary travelers. To this day the Arundel Society for the Prosecution of Thieves and Felons still hold their annual Dinner at this Arundel Hotel - a tradition which dates back to the 18th century. The Norfolk Arms hotel is set under the battlements of Arundel Castle and has an atmosphere of traditional permanence, the kind that prevails in all the gracious buildings that make up Britain's colorful heritage.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Probably our 20th stay here at Norfolk arms hotel and never been unhappy with both staff service and rooms. Fantastic little place, in the heart of a quaint little town, good price and location. Can’t wait for next stay already. Thanks to all staff especially Kate. Deborah & Tony

Second stay in this lovely hotel, can't fault the room or service, the staff very friendly and helpful. The Valentine's Menu was of excellent value. It was my birthday while staying, was left a card and wished a happy birthday it's these little gestures that made our stay so nice and memorable. Will definitely be coming again.

Excellent location and Arundel is a lovely place. However, the hotel is tired and needs sprucing up. Our room was not dirty but it just needed freshening up - no pressure from the shower, chipped paint etc. We were in room 14 and there was constant banging from the door in the corridor outside which was unfortunate but we had only booked one night so we tolerated it. The room looked a lot larger on the website but it was adequate. All in all, the hotel is average in my opinion but nothing special. Staff all seemed pleasant and were helpful enough. The car park costs £6 but there were quite a few spaces so that was pleasing.

Not often we get out on a Sunday, but are we glad we did! Found this last-minute deal at Arundel! It had great reviews but at such short notice we couldn’t expect much. Greeted by an amazing member of staff who deserves a shout-out! ‘Thank you Sue for your hospitality! I know it was less than 24hrs but the whole time you were exceptional, so accommodating’. The place was very clean, the staff were very helpful and let’s not forget the location. Based right in the middle of the town surrounded by the Cathedral and the castle grounds, what is there not to like! Although the hotel offers food, we decided to continue exploring, as we don't seem to stay still! I would definitely recommend the Italian (La Campania) opposite the hotel or the Chinese on the same road (China Palace Restaurant). If you do fancy a Sunday Roast, please don’t do what we did and make sure you book in advance!!! If you are a craft-beer drinker, do not panic, the ‘Norfolk Tap’ shares the building with this hotel. If you fancy walking further, you have 2 other tap rooms nearby. Definitely enough beer to go round! I don’t know if it was the eccentricity look of this hotel or now new favourite, Sue, but no doubt we will be back!

We stayed overnight ready for family memorial and refreshments at this hotel. The rooms were lovely and quaint. Breakfast was made to order and delicious. The memorial refreshments and conference room were beautifully decorated and inkeeping with the feeling of the day. The staff were helpful and sincere. Thank you so very much.

We stopped in for a light lunch whilst visiting Atundel. It was a very pleasant experience. There was a good choice including vegan at reasonable prices - we had some delicious sandwiches. The decor is lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful.

A fantastic stay. Arrived early, left car in car park and went shopping around Arundel. Booked in at 3:30, room on 3rd floor was lovely however new heating system in our room would not work so bit chilly. Sue at reception went above and beyond and instantly dealt with this and moved us to another room which was just as nice and very warm and cosy on the same floor. Breakfast next day was superb, Continental and Full English available. All staff very helpful, profesional and friendly. Looking forward to staying again at this wonderful historic Hotel.

Stayed here for one night. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The building is full of wonderful architecture and features. The room was clean, quaint and cosy, with a nice view of the castle, and we had a good night's sleep. Because of the nature of the building, there are lots of creaky floorboards but nothing really to worry about. The shower plug didn't drain away very well, but we mentioned it to the staff at check out. We had a good choice of hot and cold breakfast, located in a big dining room with lots more character. Again the staff were welcoming. Would definitely stay here again if we are visiting the area.
