The Premier Inn Arundel hotel has garnered mixed reviews, with numerous guests critiquing the establishment for not providing satisfactory value, highlighting overpriced rates and less-than-ideal dining options. While the staff's friendliness and helpfulness are often commended, issues with understaffing and sluggish service have been noted. The rooms, despite offering comfort in terms of bedding, are frequently described as run-down and lacking in cleanliness. Although the basic amenities are appreciated, travelers have pointed out maintenance problems and inconsistent Wi-Fi. Cleanliness throughout the hotel varies, with some areas needing attention and refurbishment. Arundel is beautiful, but as you climb the hill out of the little town and the hotel swings onto view… you heart will sink!
The previously white rendered Georgian style building is now green with algae & grey with traffic film, masonry repairs are screaming out to be completed, lose wires trailing off walls, a carpark and approach to the main entrance strewn with debris from the bin store that you are forced to walk past, a miserable inviting main entrance and an overwhelming desire to find a different hotel; I’ve never experienced such an unloved appearance!

We weren’t able to check in as we arrived a little early and so we went into Arundel to see if we could find alternative accommodation. As there were none available, we returned to the Premier Inn defeated.

The staff were extremely pleasant as we were being checked in and helped us out with advice for the area/booking breakfast. The lobby was clean and well appointed, with a vending machine for cold drinks and snacks. You have to use you room card to access the rooms so security felt tight.

Our rooms were well appointed in the expected Premier Inn style but housekeeping were given the impossible task of having to clean around failing infrastructure: when bathrooms have ‘blown’ mdf trim and mouldy, loose sealant, you can’t make these areas appear clean and well presented; the hotel needs a complete maintenance overhaul which is long over due.

Beds were comfy, if small - aside from the accessible rooms, which have king size beds, all beds are a standard double size, which was disappointing. However, they are comfortable and we enjoyed a settled nights sleep.

All of the staff we met were pleasant, including the waiting staff in the beefeater restaurant where we ate our prepaid breakfast. Breakfast was average, an extremely limited continental selection and the option to order a hot English breakfast, but we enjoyed what was on offer.

The restaurant had a fausty odour when we walked in, again it was tired and grubby despite evidence that it may well have undergone a refurb in the past 2-3 years, it was also tired and unloved with equipment shoved into recesses and cubby-holes and litter strewn around the carpark… again, the approach was uninspiring and definitely uninviting.

The only saving grace really is the attitude of the lovely staff… but why don’t they love their workplace enough to care for it? I worry that this is a reflection of their employment conditions… perhaps they are all fed up of asking for improvements to be made and being ignored…??

The customer should NEVER have to be concerned about any of the issues noted in this review, that’s the whole purpose of a chain brand - consistency! Come on Premier Inn, you certainly wouldn’t be including this outlet in one of your celebrity adverts as a flagship site, so instead of hiding it, improve it… quickly!

Hotel looks dilapidated from the outside but don’t let that put you off. Plenty of parking,a very warm welcome and a clean and comfortable room. Location great, about a 15 min walk downhill into Arundel town centre, although a harder walk uphill back! Excellent value overall (although not a fan of the £10 per hour early check-in fee if the room is available).

Very good stay as I stayed here for 7 nights managed to change the towels etc. The only issues I had was o2 mobile data doesn’t work in rooms a lot sometimes comes and goes as you can’t watch videos on Facebook you probably can only manage to check your emails. And Friday night into Saturday guests coming in late night banging doors from outside and inside the building as they say mention tip toe. But overall very nice stay possibly outside the building needs attention but the inside of the rooms are clean and always have comfy beds as sometimes having trouble getting out of bed. Also great staff. I would recommend the meal deals for the on-site restaurant.

Having stayed at this property numerous times before due to its location we had no hesitation booking 4 nights here again.

Well I can say that not only will we never stay at this property again it is possible premier inn have burnt their bridges with us all together.

Gone is the friendly attitudes of staff and promise of a good nights sleep. We don't need frills in our hotel but quality bed and quietness are key.

1stly when we arrived the check in person was verging on creepy when addressing our 3 year old despite asking her to stop.

When we arrived into the room we noticed that the bathroom had not been cleaned throughly. When raising this with the front desk she advised that the cleaning staff were not available at that point and the hotel was fully booked. Thankfully my mum lived round the corner and came round with cleaning materials so we could make sure the place was at least hygenic.

We paid £15 for "premium wifi" which constantly stopped working and cutting out.

We could hear every conversation, footstep and toilet flush in the room above us. When raising this with the night person on our 2nd night he quipped that I was complaining a bit early (being 2230 and their "quiet" time was 10pm-7am). When I advised we had a 3 year old we had been trying to get to sleep for 4 hours he said "he would see what he could do". Which was nothing.

When I complained on the 3rd night that we were still being kept awake late into the night and early hours of the morning I was told "it is Christmas and they don't have much control over what happens in peoples rooms and that I will just have to live with it".

Coupled with the fact that our 1st meal in the restaurant was completely ruined by the fact I was served a steak with a LIVE SLUG crawling around the plate and the best they offered was taking my meal off the bill (I said of course you did because I didn't eat it!)

We can forgive the worn out mattress and lack or working heat in the room but everything else led to a very exhausted family and a partially ruined Christmas

Usually Premier Inns are reliable. Not this one. Smelly room with black mould in the bathroom. Tired decor inside and out. The attached pub was a mess, with tacky, sticky carpets like some student nightclub, slow service despite some friendly staff. This property needs some investment in decor and cleaning before you should contemplate staying there.

Probably the worst premier inn we have stayed. No air conditioning the room was a constant 26 degrees. We were given a fan which did nothing to be honest. The window only opened a few cm so there was no air. The Wi-Fi was extremely poor which made using any device very slow.
Some staff were more interested in upselling the meal deal at the restaurant than addressing the issues with the rooms. The rooms were dirty with lots of dust on the the ledges.
The restaurant itself was understaffed and to be honest the manager was rude when we asked if we could get a couple of Children’s meals for our children saying we should have booked. Very poor service.

Good no frills clean place to put down your head. It’s about 5 minutes drive into Arundel town - I expect you could walk into town but it was too cold for us.

Staff were warm and welcoming at the reception. They were also helpful and advised that it was best to be back before the road was closed for works from 8pm which is directly outside the hotel towards Arundel.

Room was nice and clean, towels provided and Baylis toiletries for hand wash and shower gel.
Int he room is a hair dryer and also a kettle to make tea and coffee.
It was a bit cold in the room for the kids so we did put up the heating a little - warms up very quickly and we had to open the window to cool it down. Rooms do not have a cooling functionality.

We were on the ground floor in a family room and giving it 4/5 as we could hear people in the morning walking around above us. We were ok with it at that point as we were awake already but if you’re a light sleeper might be an issue.

There is a Beefeater adjacent to the building but we didn’t eat there.

Checkout was easy - just drop key off in a drop box at reception.

I would stay here again and would recommend it as a nice clean play to stay but I’m not unsure if I would stay during the Summer.

For the price, compared to more expensive hotel chains this is excellent value for money.

Morris, the gentleman on reception, couldn't have been more helpful with our requests for addtional towels, milk and teabags. What a wonderful member of staff, he deserves an award!

The room (on the ground floor) was revatively spacious (and we could take our bicycles in too)! There was shower gel / shampoo provided with both bath and shower, free wifi and an exceptionally comfy bed.

The breakfast (in the Befeater next door) was as good as more expensive hotel chains with a wide selection of options for only £9.50 per head (at the time of writing).

With a 20 minute walk into Arundel you can't go wrong. We will definately be back.

We highly recommend it

Arrival and check in was good, very welcoming team member. Breakfast time was booked in 15 minutes slots.

Walking to the bedroom, the corridor smell fresh and looks clean on the first impression until you walk around around and start noticing all the “most probably maid trolleys” scratches on the walls and door frames.

On entering the room, the first impression was good, sofa bed was made up already.

The room is a good size for a night stop over.

However things from there were less enjoyable including the night we did not sleep.

What seems to be blood staines on top of the duvet cover close to the pillows were not a welcome sight as well as the hair/s on top of the cover!

Pillows and clearly not usual premier inn standard, very old and very uncomfortable resulting in a serious neck pain this morning.

We did not sleep not only because of the pillows, but the noise! Do not sleep in any of the ground floor rooms, you hear all the walking upstairs, opening taps, showers, and a few bits more. People were nice enough not to talk loud while in the corridor but this was not enough as steps were constant through out the night.

Bathroom floor was not clean, the shower/bath area did look clean and it feels like it has been renovated not long ago. However lots of scratch marks and some others close to the toilet left us confused about renovated/new rooms advertised, if it is the case, cleaning is then a really big issue as well as maintenance.

Our room overlooked a car park, not noisy at all however, the windows are seriously dirty and clearly not been cleaned for a very long time.

Breakfast this morning was good. All the items you want in a Premier Inn. The hot items were on order. Eggs were server in a little oil pool, one overcooked and one seriously under cooked. Menus on the table werr very dirty and greasy, clearly not been cleaned before set up. Coffee cups were also quite dirty, did go through at least 4 or 5 before getting to a clean one. Please check the cups before displaying them outside next to the coffee machine.

Service was welcoming, what seems to be the manager really cared about asking if people knew about premier inn breakfast however the person who brought us to our table did not at all. Just sat us down and said i will come over for your order. No mention of the continental breakfast being self service.

On our way back to the room we noticed a seriously old premier inn poster just outside the reception door, the other side looked fine, and this sums up our experience, few good things and some lack to details and a bad night sleep made us decide to choose somewhere else next time.

This hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment, it is very tired and worn out. There is no air conditioning at the hotel, so the rooms are unbearably hot during the summer months! A pedestal fan is provided but when the room is 25 degrees it’s only moving around warm air!! You cannot leave the window open as the hotel is situated near a very busy road.

The rooms don’t have any USB charging points, nor any sockets either side of the bed.

The Wi-Fi was sporadic and only worked when it felt like. I even upgraded to Premium WiFi, which didn’t help much…

The outlook from the window was dire, my room was looking at the back of another building, about 2 meters away!

The TV was very quiet and cables hanging loose!

NOISE! The hotel was very noisy, I was awaken from 5am with constant banging of doors. If you want a good sleep or a lay-in this hotel isn’t for you. There isn’t a soft-closing device that works here!

Overall, I wouldn’t bother staying here! Travel abit further and stay somewhere else…

We slept like logs, having spent much of the day at a funeral & the wake afterwards. I suppose they must be wooden. (We were there 3 months ago, and have only been there once).
