Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cannot fault this excellent B&B. Fantastic value, first class accommodation and a wonderfully warm welcome from Jenny and Tony. They offer a good choice of cooked breakfast and cook to order so it is fresh. Bed was ultra comfortable and we would recommend staying there to all our friends.

Jenny and Tony were excellent hosts! Welcoming upon our arrival and helped with recommendations for dinner. Our room was very spacious and well-appointed for a family of four. Our breakfasts were wonderful and quite filling! We left for our tour of Arundel Castle and while getting situated at the parking lot, Tony pulls up and we look at him and he holds up "BOB" (our son's sock monkey that he brought from home). Talk about going above and beyond ... Tony saved the trip for sure as our next destination was Bath and there would have been no turning back for Bob at that point! Thanks Tony!

My husband and I stayed with Jenny and Tony in May 2015 for 3 nights. Right from the onset we were made to feel so very welcome to their lovely home. Our room was very spacious and extremely clean. We both enjoyed the beautiful view of the garden from our room. The breakfast was delicious with a good selection on offer and we both really loved the medlar jelly. The location of Medlar Cottage was superb as it was lovely and quiet in a rural setting yet it was conveniently close to Arundel for dining at restaurants. If we ever come back to this part of the world again we will definitely stay at Medlar Cottage without hesitation. Thank you to Jenny and Tony for a wonderful stay.

Firstly, do not be put off by only a couple of reviews for this place, the owners here have been doing this for a while but do not go out and promote their business as they have lots of regulars who return, so they do not ask people to leave reviews like some newer businesses may do. Hopefully my review will make more trip advisor addicts take note of a gem in this area. Call direct for the best rates. We were booked in just for one night as a last minute break in Arundel. Our sat Nav took us to a horrid industrial site, so we had very low expectations as we were near to arrival, when we worked out where we were, (look for Poling Street) we were delighted to find ourselves in a country lane with no indication whatsoever that we were very close to a major road, it was a very tranquil setting. The hosts are seasoned professionals having run this establishment for 18 years. Listed as a 3 star we felt that they offered a much higher standard. Our room was the smaller of the two on offer but it was all we needed, there was a hospitality tray with fresh milk and bottled water. Tv too. We had a separate private bathroom opposite the bedroom, with a large bath and shower, beautiful views. Dressing gowns were provided. We were given an excellent recommendation for dinner that evening, The Six Bells. Family friendly, but the noise did not travel too much so we were not woken or disturbed by the young family in the room next door. The breakfast was extensive with fresh fruit salad a choice of yoghurts including natural, nuts and seeds etc, plentiful cereal choice, with a cooked menu that offered eggs benedict or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or smoked haddock and other choices that I cannot remember. Home made preserves including the infamous Medlar Jelly. The traditional cooked breakfast was really well cooked and quality products, all delivered in a calm, un flustered manner with a smile, what more could you ask for? It is a rare comment that I make because we like to try new places when we are away, we have stayed in many many b&bs but if we were ever in the area again we would book medlar cottage in a flash! Many thanks to our delightful hosts.

We stayed for 3 nights at Medlar Cottage. Jenny and Tony couldn't have been more welcoming, we were made to feel like members of the family. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with lovely views. The en-suite facilities were excellent. The choice for breakfast is enormous with some local specialities and it is all well cooked and presented. Only one word of caution - if ticking clocks keep you awake then take some ear-plugs!
