Welcome to the town house, we here at the town house hope to ensure that our guests have a comfortable and relaxing stay. If there is anything that you need to make your stay more enjoyable, please do not hesitate to notify a member of staff, they will be happy to help. The Town House is a splendid regency building, with great views overlooking Arundel Castle or the picturesque rooftops of Arundel. Based in the centre of Arundel’s historic Georgian town you are only a few minutes away from all the town’s attractions. This one-of-a-kind Georgian Town house was built in the 1800s and is grade 2 listed, however the marvellous ceiling in the lounge bar is much older. The ceiling was originally constructed and installed in Florence, Italy in the late 16th century. The ceiling was hand carved from walnut and then gilded to give its stunning finished look unique to the period. Plaster copies where later put in to create the arch over the bar in the 1950s. It is our stunning architecture and elegant en-suite bedrooms that set this delightful bed & breakfast apart.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Room was nice and as described but an alarm went off at 2am and continued every few minutes until 7.30am Spoke to breakfast staff who switched it off and said manager would be informed. Wrote to ‘Terry’ no response. Phoned numerous times and told ‘Terry’ would be in touch. He hasn’t been. Contacted hotel group who say hotel no longer part of the chain. Tried to contact owner Gillian Brown but told not known . Paid £160 for one night of very little sleep and no concern at all from manager. Such a shame as staff very pleasant but clearly get little or no support when things go wrong. Surprised alarm didn’t alert owner or staff member and that no one came to check. I would still like contact from ‘Terry’ or Gillian as they have some responsibility for guest comfort. I await your call. You have my contact details.

This is a great place to stay for short term stays two to three nights, clean friendly staff great food clean tidy rooms. My only concern is not suitable for older people as it’s a town house so quite a few stairs to climb but great views of the castle.

Had a wonderful stay, great location on the high street, our room on the top floor was overlooking Arundel Castle. Nice size room with four poster bed, very olde world but very clean and well maintained, everyone was very attentive and the breakfast was fabulous, will definitely stay again

Staying at the Townhouse Arundel was our worst experience on our UK vacation. First of all, their lobby/bar area was under construction so we basically arrived to find a total mess as we entered. As breakfast is usually served in this area, we had no choice but to accept a breaksfast basket in our room for the following morning. The guy who checked us in (Sam) told us that he would be gone after 7pm but that we could reach someone on one of the two phone numbers provided on the back of our room door. As the evening progressed the room was colder and colder and there was no way for us to control the temperature. We tried several times calling both numbers, but nobody answered. We left a message on one of the numbers and the voice box was full on the other one. I also sent an email to the hotel. We eventually received a call back that evening from an ex-employee, and she wasn't very pleased that her number was still written on their room doors. She did say that she would call the owner for us, but nobody called us back after that. Needless to say, we barely slept in the cold room. Our email was answered the next day by Terry (owner?), but by that point it was obviously too late. I responded to Terry again, letting him know of our horrible experience, and asking for a full refund. He did not respond at all, even after I wrote a 2nd email when we returned home a couple of weeks later. If Terry is indeed the owner, or the manager, I am surprised at his lack of customer service and concern. If you are running a hotel, it is your obligation to have someone available in case of an emergency. Arundel is a lovely town and the castle is definitely worth the visit, but please do yourself a favour and stay someone else. This hotel clearly only cares about the their revenue, not their guests!

We stayed here for two nights as a treat getaway (without the kids!) - the location is fabulous - right on the main high street, but it's super quiet at night. We stayed in the smaller of the four-poster doubles, on the second floor, with lovely views of the castle. The room was bigger than the photos suggested, and very comfortable for a slightly rainy stay. Local walks were super, and local food was incredible - all within a couple of minutes walk. We recommend The Parson's Table and The Steakist. Things to be aware of: no parking, but Crown Yard car park is a minute away and is £8 per day, there are other car parks which are £5 per day. And only basic freeview TV channels available, if watching TV in your room is what you want to do! But otherwise the staff were super friendly and flexible, they made us an earlier breakfast on request for our departure day, and the 2-for-1 prosecco in the evenings was also a tasty bargain. We'd definitely come back.

My husband and I would like to congratulate Terry, the owner, for such a warm welcome and Maureen the House keeper. Our room was spectacular, absolutely spotless. We were celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. We had an amazing view overlooking the castle walls. The breakfast was delightful from the continental to several choices of cooked option. We will be back and thank-you again.

The thing that stands out for me is the friendliness of the staff. All that we met were really helpful and good to chat to. Everything else was fine, oh and the little extras in our room - home made flapjack - what's not to like!

Large and elegant room. Staff were friendly and efficient. Great breakfast. Central location close to the castle but , even at the front, it was very quiet overnight. Bed very comfortable. Would stay again. Thanks!

Comfortable bed/room. Hotel well situated in centre of Arundel though parking needs a bit of luck. Currently doing breakfast but not supper. Plenty of restaurants otherwise in Arundel. Friendly and welcoming.
