Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Called and left a message as didn't receive a refund after cancelling my booking for Sept 17. They didn't call me back. Then contacted booking.com and had to send scan of bank statement to prove I had paid the hotel at time of booking Sept 16. They have now had my money for over a year. Booking.com have said that due to the hotel not responding I now have to send copies of my bank account from Sept 16 to present to prove the money wasn't refunded! 😡

The room was OK though lacking most facilities. No radio, no TV. And obviously no breakfast. It was at the top of the house and below the water tank, which filled up noisily and woke us at 12.30 am. There was only a shared bathroom. The fact that it was small was not the issue. The issue was that although clean, it looked uncared for. It needs investment. I very much got the impression that we we there for the owners' benefit, rather than them being there for ours.

Just like any country house style accommodation you've ever experienced! Slept well in old fashioned sleigh style bed in Flemish style garret with sky light. Tiny but cosy room And shared bathroom and no lock o door but felt safe as top of house and entrance to house off the Main Street and Yale lock front door. Bit laissez faire but flavor of old monied style of stay. Help available if needed and kind. Plumbing a bit cantankerous and floors creaky but all adds toMissMarple feel! If travelling solo and light And in need of simple safe bed then its a good bet.

Had a very warm welcome by the lady of the house who showed me to my room and asked if i would like a cooked breakfast in the morning. The room was very clean with tea and coffee available. A lovely property all round. The breakfast was excellent, I will definitely be staying again. Great hospitality from you both.

My wife and I stayed for 1 night Good point: Comfortable bed. Bad points: parking was a mission as had to walk over half a mile back to the B&B after eventually finding a space, owners seemed very put out that we arrived before 3pm to drop off bags before we went out out for the day and then they were never seen again, dirty and mouldy shared WC/shower was on floor above our room as no en-suite. Breakfast was bread for making your own toast or fruit and orange juice, all of which were sitting on the table from the night before so wasn't very refreshing and also make your own coffee. Kitchen wasn't very clean and the smell of the owners son smoking in the room next to us whilst having breakfast was not good. The shower pump was so noisy it drove me nuts. Heard every movement from the room above us and there's no locks on the doors. Would I stay again? NO Worth £90 for a double room? NO

I stayed here for one night and was NOT impressed. I was in a tiny, cell-like attic room with no fan on a very warm night, an attic window which was very hard to close (no curtain or blind), awful old, creaky mattress, worn bedding and pillows. Three of us had to share a dirty shower room which seemed to be also used by the son of the house. No lock on the bedroom door (another guest opened my door thinking it was the bathroom! Not her fault!) No soap in the shower room (to wash hands) or hand towel and only one scratchy towel in bedroom. The room was £65 and called 'budget' but it was far too expensive for what was provided. No TV in room. One lightbulb not working and waste bin still dirty. My bedroom just seemed to be a storage room for books and linens. Ok breakfast (just continental). Food left out for us, we didn't see the hosts in the morning. I got the feeling they wanted the money but no hassle.
