Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You never bothered contacting me despite my various messages and you refused to hold my booking over as we could not guarantee getting home. I did not ask for a refund just a stay of execution. I called today and your member of staff was pretty dismissive said I should have booked direct. I think this level of customer service is deplorable in this day and age.

The room was very musty with a strange smell, and was so uncomfortably hot at night that we needed the fan on, which in doing so made it too noisy to sleep. I’d expected air conditioning in my room as standard. To have paid £165 (without breakfast) for a night stay, I’ve left feeling tired and not relaxed.

Went here for a lunch organised by family, we had never been before. We ate in the main restaurant. We had Caesar Salads and chicken burgers. with 4 of us having the affogato for desert. Very stylish place, good service and excellent food, we will be back!

Booked a room for a couple of nights for my mother in law to stay local to us - she’s over 80 and and independent but needs a walk in shower and likes her comfort . Lovely room allocated , she’s well travelled and enjoyed the little complimentary extras in the room that many hotels have now abandoned. Very comfortably furnished lounge and bar area as well as the lovely Potager Restaurant ( see separate review) . Lovely outlook from the dining areas onto the landscaped lawn with pretty rural views beyond. Crouchers hides in plain sight on the road from Chichester to Birdham and The Witterings and has the feel of a very well run family enterprise that has put a lot of investment and effort into their business . The staff were all so friendly and we were overall just very impressed .

We booked the Blenheim Garden Room for a few nights to get some much needed relaxation, the room was lovely and opened out into the garden with our patio. The team were fantastic and friendly, they were so welcoming in fact that on one of our days we stayed most of the day having drinks in the sun at the bar. We ate in the restaurant on our last evening and the food was delightful and service spot on. Would definitely visit again in the future! Thank you team, it is exactly what we needed!

Very underwhelmed in comparison to the website, we stayed in the Blenheim room, clearly we got one of the “lower end” Blenheim rooms in comparison to what’s displayed on the website. The uphostry such as chairs, carpets etc were stained and grotty, the room is very run down, the common areas too were long overdue and clean/carpet replacement. It’s certainly not a £200 a night hotel.

Really nice place- friendly staff, and very nice food. After a little trouble checking in ( a case of crossed wires) my stay was a joy, The room was immaculate, with a very nice bed and all of the expected amenities.Breakfast was included with the room, and was really very good, with a an array of fresh juices available for unlimited top ups. Would definitely stay again.

Having enjoyed several very pleasant long weekends at Crouchers pre-lockdown, we returned in June and enjoyed a very comfortable, well-fed and restful break for a few days. The beds and pillows are really comfortable, the gardens are beautifully stocked and maintained by the resident gardener and there are walks through the grounds and fields which are ideal for a stroll, or a doggie walk! The food is excellent with a menu changing each day, well presented and very tasty. Crouchers is very welcoming to doggie guests with their humans in tow! Breakfast and dinner can be booked in the bar area with your doggie, selecting from the restaurant menu.

Beautiful hotel, with beautiful grounds. Really enjoyed our stay we had a dog friendly room which had its own private patio. The food was lovely, although not a big choice if you’re vegetarian. Only maybe 1 thing on their evening menu so you couldn’t eat there 2 nights in a row or you’d be eating the Same thing. The pizza place was also lovely just a short 5 minute walk away. Probably one of the best pizzas we’ve had. Room was nice and clean. No dog bed was in the room we had to ask for one.which wasn’t a problem. They delivered one to our room very quickly . There was a coffee machine in the room, which was handy.I would suggest you ask for a room where there’s no rooms above you as we got woken up by people above around 5am walking about. Breakfast on both mornings was lovely .Friendly staff all in all a lovely stay.
