Upon arrival, I parked outside the front of the hotel and we went to reception to book in also to locate the hotel car park. Whilst booking in my wife and I talked about what to do for her birthday and thought nothing more about it. I parked the car, retrieved our bags and we went to our room. In the time it took to do that, some chocolates and a card wishing my wife a happy birthday had been placed on the bed. Fantastic! The waiter at breakfast presented her with a complimentary glass of bucks fizz. Also fantastic. The room was very comfortable, the staff were all excellent, and my wife was extremely happy. (As was I). A big thank you to all at the Chichester Harbour Hotel. We would not hesitate to return. Ideally situated for the theatres.

We had to book a family room as we were booking last minute. We had room 19, which is quite a stair journey up to the loft! The room, however, was very spacious and clean, and there was a portable fan to keep us cool as we timed it to coincide with an unexpected September heatwave! There is a kettle, and complimentary teas, coffees, biscuits and water in the room, plus hairdryer, towels, robes, slippers, soaps, shampoo, etc, etc. The bed is also very comfy.

The hotel is very stylish, and the staff are exceptionally nice.

It is also really well located near to the centre of Chichester - a 5 minute walk to the cathedral.

The hotel also has the added bonus of an on-site car park, but one slight grumble is that we found lots of badly parked cars taking up double spaces. The hotel could possibly rectify this by re-painting the lines, or encouraging notes to be left on dashboards of time of return, thereby enabling cars that are parked there a long time to be blocked in. Just a thought....

I stayed here with a friend for two nights due to a wedding we were attending. I have stayed in this chain in Salcombe and had a much better experience. The car park was very small with limited spaces and cars parked where they shouldn’t, Making it virtually impossible to park without worrying your car will get hit by another. From the entrance of the car park you pass through the bar, my friend and I had no clue where reception was, there were staff members walking around and didn’t even offer to help or show us the way. We had luggage so it was clear we had just arrived. Not a great start. Reception Staff were not very attentive, I phoned the night before to check all was ok as I booked 5 weeks prior and hadn’t had any emails from them. I mentioned that I requested a twin room on booking to which they failed to note down, although this was sorted for us on arrival.

The lift to the rooms are an old style small lift so we didn’t feel comfortable using it, we decided to use the stairs but I had to ask for help with luggage even though it was clear I am heavily pregnant. The hotel was quaint and tastefully old looking which I love, however the rooms need re-decorating as it was tired looking and very small. The floor boards were extremely creaky and you could hear the people above you.

We booked a facial in the spa area and arrived 1.5 hours early to use the jacuzzi. On arrival we told reception we had a treatment booked for half 6. At 6:20ish we sat at reception waiting to be called in. At 6.40 two ladies asks what we were doing and we explained “waiting for our facial”, the reply was “oh didn’t know you had one we are cashing up”, we booked 5 weeks ago and the receptionist knew when we arrived 1.5hours earlier. No apology just “right be with you in a minute”, this was said with such attitude. Clearly no communication between staff. The facial was nice but I felt annoyed that there was no customer care there. Having both come from customer care backgrounds we just found this appalling. Both my friend and I had the worse week due to personal reasons and we just wanted to be treated with respect and to feel relaxed but instead we felt annoyed by the situation.

Breakfast was lovely, everything was on point but the cheap and nasty sausages. Shame that such a lovely breakfast was ruined by that one thing. We did not eat dinner at the restaurant. The cleaner knocked after our first nights stay and said “I have you down as departing today”, we explained we were there for two nights but it just didn’t surprise us that they had it wrong. It was just so disjointed and unorganised.

Finally, we found the rooms too hot and we had to sleep with the window open. This didn’t make the stay the most comfortable. Overall not the best experience and most definitely not a 4 star service. Staff need to massively improve on their customer service skills, this was not how I was treated at Salcombe harbour and spa. This has put me off my plans to visit the St Ives one with my husband now :( the icing on the cake was being blocked in by another car when leaving which delayed my trip home by 30 minutes. I feel staff need to monitor people parking in their car park in spaces that aren’t even spaces !

Two night stay in a deluxe double room which was large and light with double aspect windows. Great to have a coffee machine and a kettle, good selection of teas/coffee pods ( but no labelling to say what they were). Fresh milk in the fridge. Good comfy bed , fan and heater provided. Huge fluffy bath sheets.Had no problem parking. Fabulous location. Good breakfast. Lift to all three floors.
Niggles:
Cheap plastic loo seat.
Wardrobe not full length so dresses could not be hung inside.
Safe too small to house an iPad.
No make up/shaving mirror in the bathroom.
Tiny toiletries bottles which were not replaced for the second night and were not enough for two people for two nights.
No map or welcome folder in the room.
Light shade was ripped ( room 20).
We made a telephone booking and all details taken down were incorrect ( name address and email).
Unacceptable: ( and we did raise this on check out).
It was incredibly dusty in a lot of areas; in the bedroom the top of the fabric headboard was worse and the radiator vents were clogged, also the coffee machine vents were dirty. The door to the housing of the pool equipment in the spa is slatted and also filthy with dust. In the dining room the padded bench seat was stained and dirty.

I visited on a rare child free night with my husband. The hotel is beautiful, the central staircase is quite amazing. The car park is small but the front of house (Mimi?) couldn't have been more helpful, we eventually left our car keys with her in case anyone needed to get out.the room was very cosy and the shower room very well done. The spa is a real treat, we were warmly welcomed and had a shower first, it is very small but beautifully fitted out, and the hydrotherapy pool was very relaxing, especially with a glass of wine which we ordered from the friendly girl on the desk and was brought on for us. The steam room is also perfect. Breakfast was amazing in the beautiful dining room. Would definitely stay here again, even if only for the warm welcome and amazing service. Thank you!

Booked this hotel for a romantic night away with my husband and we were not disapponted. Paid extra for the junior suite but it was worth it, lovely quiet room at the top of the hotel which was spotlessly clean and well presented, there is even a bath in the room and complimentary gin and sherry.
The bed was super comfy and the shower nice and large, slippers and robes in the room too along with a nice cosy seating area although if you are tall you do need to be aware of the low ceilings in part of the room and hotel.
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious although disappointing that at a cost of £16.95 only tea and coffee are included, lattes etc. are at an extra cost.
Overall we had a lovely stay, our only complaint would be that parking is not guaranteed for all guests although we were lucky to find a space but we did arrive earlier than check in time and bar service was a little slow but we do appreciate that like many places they might be short staffed at present.
The hotel has a spa too but we did not use this so cannot comment.

We stayed here for one night over the bank holiday weekend and it really is a lovely hotel. We stayed in a standard ‘double’ room (room 22) the bed is huge! We guessed at a super king! So plenty of space in the bed for two! Sheet we super crisp and soft and bed was comfy. As the websites said all rooms have been refurbished and ours had been and looked just like the photos on their website. The room was spotless. Has a fridge and hair dryer as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Some glasses and biscuits were also on the tray along with a welcome drink of a local gin and Sherry in lovely decanters (nice touch). Lots of local info in the room along with room service menu. Mini toiletries from the white company was a huge hit as we are big fans of the brand, they smelled Devine. We could not fault the room at all except for it was a warm day and we found the room very warm. Even with the fan it felt a little much at points through the night. So just some advice to the manger to invest in a really good fan and then the room would be perfect. This wouldn’t stop us from staying again though at we enjoyed our time there a lot. We used the spa at no extra cost and booked out an hour for the two of us which was really nice. All staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also nice (apart from the sausage for us) but plenty of choice and was cooked to order.

Fab hotel right in Chichester city centre so plenty of shops bars and restaurants on the doorstep. We will definitely be back!

A last minute decision to have a local night away to relax, we chose here because we knew it had recently had a refurb and we have walked past it many times when visiting Chichester.
A lot of people have commented on the carpark, which is tiny, but the hotel website does state 'limited parking on a first come basis' - the biggest problem is that everyone tries to park there leading to some very inconsiderate paring and we saw one other guest inspecting a massive scratch down the side of his driver's door.
It is an old building, over 200 years old, so it has character but this des mean the floor boards creak and the old sash windows did rattle during the night because it was a windy evening.
The room was tastefully decorated, I was quite amused that there was a big poster stating 'The Importance of Being Ernest by Oscar Wilde' as this was written in and about Worthing where I live. The big disappointment with the room was the shower as there was no pressure to the water, so only a dribble, and even at the highest temperature, the water was only warm.
We loved the bar and restaurant area, gorgeous colour scheme and artwork on display. Part of the bar area had a colonial feel to it with the shutters and ceiling fans. My favourite architectural feature was the staircase.
The staff were all lovely, the reception staff were particularly professional and a credit to the hotel.

Stayed here for two nights . Room 16 - The hotel is beautiful and the bar and breakfast rooms are stylish and spacious. Location is excellent within walking of the shops and restaurants.
Breakfast was very nice and cooked superbly
Staff all super friendly
Now onto the room
We upgraded to a deluxe room paying 190 per night - not cheap
The room was nicely decorated but small
Bathroom was great
But the bed - wow I could not believe it was two mattresses pushed together with a mattress topper on top
Really uncomfortable and sloped badly into the middle
I had two bad nights sleep , I would of complain but my husband hates complaining
We rolled into the middle and it was so uncomfortable
For 190 I felt really let down
The bed is such an important part of staying at a hotel
Come on sort this out it was disgraceful

We had a really enjoyable stay but unfortunately don’t think the hotel is worth the premium it charges. From its website it appears to be a high end boutique hotel but is really a fairly traditional hotel with some modernisation to the communal areas but rooms are still pretty dated: The bar and restaurant area are modern and impressive but our room wasn’t that much better than a standard chain hotel (especially the bathroom!) and didn’t warrant the price tag. Most of the safety measures due to Covid-19 worked well and didn’t negatively affect our stay but we were really disappointed not to have been told before arriving that we would need to book a timed slot to use the spa, despite receiving several emails and calls about the new measures including things like booking breakfast which we had done. We were also told by the receptionist that the steam room was open but it was cold and dark so obviously not in use, and there were no towels available in the changing rooms. Our booking said it included a cream tea but this was never mentioned when we arrived so we didn’t receive it. The staff weren’t unfriendly, it just felt like they gave us the minimum amount of information and if we hadn’t asked questions like whether we had to book the spa, we wouldn’t have known. Breakfast was tasty but service was slow and a bit disorganised - we were served food without cutlery. Not a bad hotel and we did enjoy our weekend but didn’t live up to expectations based on the price we paid.
