A small but beautifully formed high quality b&b. The rooms are fresh, bright and exceptionaly clean giving the feel of being brand new, even though they are not. The in room facilities are extensive. Shoe cleaning kit, sewing kit, iron & board, A loaded tea/coffee tray and coffee machine and fresh jugs of milk in the fridge rather than the...

We spent three nights and found the accommodation to be really clean, comfortable and well equipped. A lovely setting and perfect for a peaceful and relaxing break. We were visiting family locally but would certainly consider staying there again. Martin (the owner) was welcoming and couldn't do more to make our stay a pleasant one. We stayed in the 'dairy'...

It was a great stay. The breakfast was huge and really full English. The room was excellent with a good bed and an excellent shower and big towels. We also appreciate the nespresso machine and the watercooker to make your own tea and coffee.

Stayed overnight at this awesome b&b, the room was clean, warm, and very stylish, we were 15 mins from Chichester city centre, on hand for the festival theatre, harbour and shops. The location of the b&b was so quiet and peaceful, and breakfast was all fresh produce, and very varied, would recommend the full English! Martin was very welcoming and...

We were excited about staying at Lockgate Dairy; its reviews were consistently excellent and it looked fabulous. Our experience was mixed. As indicated at the time of booking we arrived with two children between 7pm and 8pm. We circled the property several times, catching sight of the sign on the side but presuming through the absence of further signage or...

Dear Roberta Thank you for your nicely weighted and constructive review. It may sound sarcastic of me to say that it was a lovely review, because you gave us just 3 points (how dare you!), but of ALL the reviews we've ever had (both good and bad), if ever an award could be given to a guest review as to...

My husband and I had a fantastic stay here, it exceeded all my expectations. The room was spacious, warm and clean. The bed was the most comfortable I have stayed in with the softest linen. Without a doubt that is the best shower I have used, with underfloor heating in the bathroom too. Those luxurious little touches such as the...

This is a very nice beautifully equipped B&B. Very quite rural setting but only 10 mins away from the shops/restaurants of Chichester. Greeted by the charming hostess Helen and her 2 adorable children and 2 pooches. we were made to feel very welcome. The full english brekkie wasn't half bad either. Would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone discerning.

We only stayed one night but will be returning next time we are in Chichester as this B&B is a great find. Martin was full of information about the area when I called to book and recommended a local seafood restaurant for the evening which was great. Our room in the converted barn was spotless and everything felt new and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lockgate Dairy offers superb, 5-Star B&B accommodation. Once, a working dairy, Lockgate Dairy is set in rural, open farmland away from all busy roads. It is an ideal place for down time at the end of the business day, and a peaceful night's sleep. Road noise is banished, here. The extra little touches you'll notice and a hearty breakfast, the next morning, will see you right through. If you're in the zone more for pleasure rather than necessity, for a short break, then Chichester is famous for its cathedral, the Festival Theatre, the Novium Museum (based at a Roman bathhouse) and high quality restaurants of varied cuisines. With wide streets and plentiful parking, the town is one of the South's most pleasant shopping experiences, unusually, still dominated by independent shops and plentiful interesting architecture.Immediately surrounding Lockgate Dairy is flat countryside ideal for walking, cycling and exploring Chichester Harbour (sailing, boat tours) with numerous charming waters-edge hamlets and pathways, the expansive sandy beach of West Wittering and the nature reserve at Pagham.Drive just 15 minutes and you could be revving it up on the starting grid at Goodwood motor racing track or looking down Runway 33, about to launch into the skies from Goodwood airfield (formerly RAF Westhamptnet, a satellite WW2 airfield to RAF Tangmere where Hurricanes, Spitfires and Typhoons were once based.Drive a further 5 minutes you're into glorious South Downs scenery. There, Goodwood horse racing is a sure bet as is the amazing Weald and Downland Musuem. ... more   less
