Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had the opportunity to stay here as part of a writers retreat in early Jan and it was perfect. The converted self catering properties are beautiful with lovely interiors and stunning views. I stayed in Bents Mill and felt at home immediately. Susan the owner is just as lovely and made me feel most welcome and comfortable, you must go. I selected friends as type of visit but turned up solo and made friends which was because of the relaxed, stunning environment

I stayed at Hewenden for a writers' retreat in October. Our cottage was in Bents Mill, which is in the most beautiful setting by a mill pond, with the beck running past it. The cottage itself had everything you could possibly need for a holiday and all the rooms were decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Best of all, was the very warm welcome waiting for us. Sue Richardson put her heart and soul into making our stay special. I'm looking forward to going back to Hewenden and can't recommend it highly enough. Helen Jones

This was our 5th visit to hewenden the previous 4 visits we stayed at wheel pit this time due to mobility problems we stayed at no 8. As with previous visits the cottage was presented spotlessly clean with a good pack of basics - tear coffe milk bread etc. The grounds are wel kept and a pleasant walk can be had from th3 cottages. The cottage has a good information pack listing places to visit local eating places and other useful information. Only 15 mins from Haworth so handy for the Bronte village 10 mins puts you in Bingley with a good train service to Leeds and other towns

Where do you go when you live in one of the most beautiful places in the world and need a break? I recommend Hewenden Mill holiday cottages. We were on the upper floor of Bents Mill. This is a private paradise. Extremely well appointed, the rooms are large, light and airy. It’s impossible to photograph the luxurious feeling of waking up in this lovely sea of green every morning. The kitchen has every appliance you could possibly want and local shops and takeaways will ensure you are well fed. The grounds are gorgeous and well tended. You will even find an ecology survey of the estate. You are surrounded by beautiful countryside for some great walking. This is such a great place. Don’t let anything stop you from getting here. In these covid-19 times, you will be safe. In fact, with just the clothes on your back, I promise that you will get through the nignt with everything you need until morning when you can think about what’s next. This place has all the entertainment you could possibly want. There are lots of books too. We went out and visited so many places while here. The location couldn’t be more perfect for Haworth & the Brontës, Saltaire, the Hepworth Wakefield, York, Bolton Abbey and Skipton Castle. You need a break. Don’t hesitate. Click the button and book. Just be mindful that you might wish to have two or three weeks, not just one.

We have been visiting Hewenden Mill for about 12 years and have always had a fantastic time. A perfect setting, perfect hosts and guests feel like they really matter. Nothing is too much trouble. We have stayed in many self catering cottages over the years and this is right at the top. Highly recommend, a perfect base for exploring Bronte and Hockney country and of course the iconic Dales.

I stayed here recently with a group of friends, so we had a larger property for the seven of us. There was good parking and there were plenty of bathrooms / en-suites, it was really well equipped and with a range of goodies and food to start us off well. The interior has been nicely decorated and kept looking very good. There was help on hand from the owner when we needed it. The setting for the main mill is tranquil and accessed down country lanes. There are a range of walls from the mill itself into the surrounding countryside. It's well located just 10 minutes drive out of Bingley. Its location is on the border between the heritage of the industrial north and the beautiful countryside of the Yorkshire Dales. Close to Saltaire World Heritage Site with the old mills and workers' village which continues to be lived in as a thriving community and also an easy 30 minute drive to the delights of Bolton Abbey and the surrounding Dales.

Thank you so much for this wonderfully detailed and enthusiastic review of your recent stay in Hewenden - it's really made my day! We are so pleased to hear that you found the accommodation well maintained and well equipped and that you enjoyed the many walks that surround the estate. I'm sure that your review will be very useful to those people considering staying in the valley - it is indeed a great base for exploring the area and it's local attractions such as Saltaire, Haworth and The Dales. We stayed with family in four of the cottages. All are kitted out to high specifications and to arrive to find tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter, cereals and biscuits provided for our first few nights was an added bonus. Our hosts were friendly and helpful ensuring that our time at Hewenden was filled with wonderful memories. I would highly recommend the cottages to anyone looking to visit Yorkshire and enjoy peace and quiet.

Four of stayed here for three nights. On arrival we received a very warm and friendly welcome. We were shown to our cottage and we were all overwhelmed by how beautiful it was. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped with everything you need for a perfect stay. The property was immaculate and the welcome pack was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. The surroundings are breathtaking, situated next to a stream and woodland and only a short walk away from beautiful waterfalls. Located close to amenities, this little gem is perfect for a relaxing getaway and to visit beautiful Yorkshire. We will certainly be back, thank you for a wonderful weekend, from the Done family x

What a wonderfully enthusiastic and positive review! Your kind words about the cottage, the surroundings and the local area are very much appreciated and I'm sure will help future guests get a feel for what Hewenden has to offer. I've delighted in passing on your comments about the cottage being 'immaculate' to our housekeeping team - we're very lucky to have such dedicated staff.
