Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Freezing cold. The radiators are only switched on once you have checked in, and I can testify having spent an entire night here, the room did not heat up. I went to sleep cold and I woke up cold. My father at least was able to double up on the duvet, but I had no such luck as there wasn’t any additional linen or blankets in the room and reception had abandoned post by 23:30 There was ‘retro night’ at the pub/ club that shares its car park and patrons with the hotel, but I needn’t have bought tickets as the music could be heard from our room as i tried try to sleep during this pit stop on our long journey. The rooms do not have a phone and the remote controls for the TV do not work. I know this to be true as we had to switch rooms originally due to the heating not working, and we had the same remote control issue there.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry that you had issues with the heating, this was reported to us by another guest on Sunday morning and it has now been rectified. Upon your check-in you are provided both the main landline and a direct number for our managed. Unfortunately, our reception is not 24 hours which should have been clarified to you upon your arrival. If you are ever in need of any or you have any concerns, please contact the manager straight away and we can help rectify any issues as they occur, for example, provide additional bedding or electric heater, replace the batteries in the remote etc. Our Retro 90s event ended just after midnight on Saturday evening, we understand that there may have been excess noise from the event but all our events finish no later than 12am.

This was our third stay and we really enjoyed it again, If your looking for a cheap and cheerful stay this ticks the boxes. The lady on reception is always very welcoming and a joy to talk to, The pool is nice and not too busy. The rooms are clean but a little tired but you get more overall than you pay for.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry that you found the leisure facilities to your liking. However, as you have not been a member for more than a year you are not able to provide an accurate review of the current state of facilities. We do hope you come by in the future and see some of the improvements that we have made to the facilities.

Large comfortable room with a bath in the bathroom. Easy parking. Good "breakfast in a bag" in the room. Good restaurants and pubs near by. Reasonable price even for a "short notice" booking. Close to Bradford, but much quieter.

The photo was very misleading, it gives the impression of a ‘luxury’ Spa’ hotel which it isn’t. It is in need of an update/ refurb. There wasn’t a restaurant/evening meal facility however the staff did supply a 15% discount voucher for food at the pub next door. The room was spacious and clean , the view from the window was of artificial grass with lots of weeds was somewhat of an eyesore but the staff were very friendly. In my opinion I’ve stayed in cheaper priced rooms with better facilities.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We understand that sometimes things do not meet your expectations, however, we advertise ourselves as a 3 3-star hotel facility, with the addition of a public bar and leisure facilities onsite. Our next major task is to tackle the rear garden area, so hopefully that will be in better shape in the future! We are, however, glad you enjoyed the use of the clean room and facilities and our staff were welcoming during your stay. Hopefully, if you stay with us in the future, you will see some improvements made!

Stayed one night to be near airport. The hotel is dated but our room was large and clean and the shower was powerful. Reception was very friendly and helpful. We didn't use the pool but it looked inviting.

I booked for the leisure. The sauna, steam room jacuzzi and pool.... Just don't. It was disgusting. The jacuzzi water was yellow and it stank. I stayed in a few minutes and couldn't bare it, i felt dirty. I went in the pool and it still smelt. Pictures of the penguins felt appropiate because the tap and hose pipe letting water out made me feel like I was in a zoo. I started getting itchy arm and got a rash probabaly from the dirty jacuzzi. Also it was just a standard cheap one with hardly any bubbles (i feel gross just thinking about it) Went to the sauna which was just "warm" No steam room which we weren't told about. (feel like i saw a review from 2years ago saying they were waiting for a part) If you book through booking.com this place would have been £80 AND would have had to pay for those leisure facilities. They shut them hour earlier than it says on the website too. Even booking directly and paying £60 I honestly feel ripped off and feel like they should be paying me for sleeping there. Last weekend for £80 I stayed in Mecure Tankersley hotel through their website and it was a lush leisure facilities. I actually spent 2 hours both evening and morning in them rathwr than 10mins tops. To make up for this place I am treating myself and going back there because I deserve it after dealing with that horrific ordeal. (they also said i paid through booking.com and tried to get me to pay for the leisure. I had to show on my phone i paid directly through them) The bedrrom is excessively large but really tired and stains everywhere. Every towel had a stain on. Mould in bathroom ceiling and tired sealant. Shower was very poor pressure. Windows on bottom floor could open as wide as you want (allowong somebody to easily climb through if you like to leave your window open for a breeze which I needed too because the hotel stank of cigarettes) If it was £40 I would expect it... or some of it.

Loved the hotel, staff were so friendly and helpful. Spa area could do with updating ie the jacuzzi only works if no more than 1 person in it. Room we were in was clean and comfortable, very spacious. Good food and drink was served in the pub. Brilliant karaoke night where the locals made us feel so welcome. Yet again the staff were brilliant. Can not wait to come back next year 😃

Clean and spacious room. No breakfast included in the price; pretty disappointing. Avoid room 300. It is joined to another room by a flimsy internal door which meant zero sleep due to a snoring dude in the next room. Door and wall so thin we could hear him heavy breathing! Rang reception who said they would ring back but didn’t. Receptionist not particularly interested in the morning either. Put a dampener on the trip. Wouldn’t return.

Sorry to see you did not enjoy your stay with us here at The Highfield. We (reception) tried our best to see if there was anything we could do to move you to another room but as we were already fully booked there unfortunately wasn't another room to move you to. We did try to contact you but to no avail at 00:55, we presumed you were now managing to sleep and didn't want to disturb you further As for the morning of check-out, the receptionist was very apologetic and as mentioned already unfortunately we were not able to move you rooms on the night due to being fully booked. You said yourself that morning there was nothing we could have done to help better you stay with us regarding the room. Kindest Regards, The Highfield Hotel
