We stayed overnight having booked to attend an event at the hotel that was cancelled but we couldn’t get our payments back for the hotel bookings

Hotel is located only a few minutes from M62. Parking is free from Friday night and over the weekend but fees apply at other times which I find ridiculous !

Sports bar so gets very very busy & noisy , no good for a quiet drink and very little seating other than in the bar so we were stuck & unable to converse with each other .

Bedrooms were small but very clean , usual toiletries on the wall but no shower cap & it’s an overhead shower so If you don’t want to wet your hair you’d be stuck. Tea & coffee but no water or glasses in the room. Tv and iron etc.

I’ve stayed in various Village hotels over the years & would love to know why the current decor is so dark and dingy , it’s all greys and black. I found the bedroom decor very dark & oppressive .

Overall ok for an overnight stay but in my view no good if you’re After some rest and relaxation

Visited on a Friday night. Booked because it has a popular Tesla Supercharge site with just two points.

Guided by a member of staff who assisted the self checkin procedure we got our digitised card key to the room. Impressed with the sound protection (little to no outside noise heard) and appointed with a v large TV screen guessing about 54”.

Bathroom with modern fittings including shower above bath (2 shower heads), toilet and hand basin. Flush was very quiet too!

We ate at my daughter’s so used the £10 food&drink voucher against out breakfast on Saturday.

Car parking is free Fri after 5pm and weekends.

The only comment was an area between the bad and bathroom was a little dark without lighting. Blackout blinds for the large floor to ceiling window effective. We paid £55 plus the voucher for food as mentioned above. Good value and will certainly use again on my next visit. Close to motorways M1 and M62.

It’s obviously been some time since we’ve been able to stay at a hotel, so spontaneously booking a room was the thing to do, especially when Village are offering some great deals on stays. Checking in was a breeze, out host Sarah Jow, made us feel incredibly welcome and went out of her way to show us the hotels facilities, including booking us a table for dinner that night! Despite COVID measures still being in place the hotel felt friendly and welcoming. After checking in our room, which was spotless, contemporary in design and more than spacious enough for the three of us, we decided to venture into Leeds. The hotels downfall is its location, superb for the motorway but a bit of a trek to the city centre. Once again Sarah came to our aid and booked us a taxi of which was with us in minutes!

Putting our toe back into staying away after lockdown could never have been easier and anymore enjoyable as our time at the Village Hotel. The staff are superb, the facilities are second to none.

The fundamentals of this hotel are good but little care has been taken around the edges meaning that it is not at the standard you would expected for the price.

Lets start with the room. Basically clean and comfortable but:
a) there was a large panel missing from the wall exposing a line of 'dried glue',
b) the "picture window" looked out onto a brick wall and a flat roof littered with cigarette butts and some wrappers. How hard would it have been to keep the flat roof clear of litter ?
c) the main light in our room didn't work making the room really quite dark. Complained about this 2 days running but nothing happened. Once again, how hard is it to change a bulb ?
d) only a few of channels on the TV worked
e) rooms are not restocked by default so I had to ask daily for T-bags, toilet paper, milk etc.

Breakfast was nice but limited. Sausage, beans, bacon, tomato, mushrooms and scrambled egg (No fried eggs, hash browns or black pudding). One type of pastry and I think 3 types of cereal. Brown or white toast butter marmalade and jam. I would call this a breakfast worthy of a budget hotel.

There was also no orange juice – only apple and on our third morning, this tasted very weak, like it had been watered down by 60%. We also had real problem with the coffee machine – sometimes it was too weak, sometimes cold and so on.

Over all, I felt sorry for the staff, every staff member I spoke to was lovely and was doing their best but they were all clearly over worked, struggling and trying to provide you with a good experience in a limited environment.

As the title of my review states – this provides the service of a descent budget hotel but charges a premium price.

We booked a room here in the December ‘sale’ for July, then paid an extra £25 to upgrade to a family room and add the kids on. Upon arrival we were given a standard double room, I tried to phone reception but there are no phones in the room and the direct number of the hotel is nowhere to be found on the internet. We went down and was told they would put two child mattress’s on the floor for an additional £35. When I asked why I was being charged even more money when we had already paid to upgrade to the family room the women on reception couldn’t tell me. The mattress’s were placed on the floor by a member of staff, one being pushed right up to the glass window over looking the motorway as there was no other place to put them as the room was tiny, which also meant we had to climb in and out of the double bed from the bottom to not stand on a child. We would of left there and then but were travelling in a group so stuck it out as we were only staying one night. There were also no kettles in the room which I have never come across staying in any hotel before! One of our friends was travelling with a baby and needed to make formula which resulted in a last minute dash to find somewhere in the area that sold pre made baby milk. When we originally booked we were offered 25% off breakfast so paid £7.50 per person, when we have stayed at previous village hotels it’s been a buffet which we knew wouldn’t be the case under the current measures but expected a cooked breakfast to be brought to the table, instead we were given luke warm coffee that had been sat in a flask god knows how long and bacon sandwiches wrapped in foil that my daughter couldn’t even manage it was that chewy. At no point we were told about this in advance and we were obviously the only ones stupid enough to fall for it as the restaurant was empty, another waste of £30. They will take money from your bank which they have the details from booking and they are clearly trying to make money back following the closure. Terrible experience and a complete rip off!

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times in the past and find it in a convenient location and good value for money. However new parking charges have been implemented. We travel in two cars so have to pay twice. Hotel is used for free by lots of people for meetings who use free WiFi but do not have to pay parking as first 4/5 hours are free.

In the evening we ate as usual at the bar and grill. The room is freezing. I mentioned this to a staff member who said this is due to there being no doors. Everyone in restaurant and bar had their coats on. We were so uncomfortable due to the cold we bought a drink and took it to the room.

Due to these issues we will not be returning.

We often stay in Village hotels. In fact we have more than 20 nights booked between 2020 and early 2021,but after this stay, and the managers response, we are tempted to cancel.

The hotel was very clean, and staff were very helpful in the main. But when it came to the breakfast we were very disappointed. Breakfast consists of either egg or bacon roll (you are not allowed both), a cereal bar, a Crossaint, orange juice, and a choice of tea or coffee for £10 or £7.50 if booked in advance. To be fair we were offered a refund by the staff on duty at the reception once we complained, and we would have left it at that and cancelled breakfast on future bookings if I hadn't have encountered the manager on day two of our stay.

On morning two we chose to order a cooked breakfast to our room from a local cafe, and asked if we could get some cutlery. We happened to ask the general manager, Dave, and he seemed to hesitate when we asked for the cutlery, so we began explaining that we'd had to order breakfast as the grab and go was very poor. Ordinarily we'd patronise the hotel rather than ordering in, but after day one we realised that we needed an alternative plan.

Sadly we found Dave's response very defensive and a tad patronising - the short version was that the hotel had reduced its prices and it would be unlikely that we'd be staying for what little we'd paid if it wasn't for Covid, so we should understand theur limitations. Obviously the conversation was more than this, it also included advice that the grab and go breakfast actually cost them more to provide than a cooked breakfast (as I had questioned whether it was a cost savings exercise). Dave also stated the hotel didn't have the staff capacity to offer breakfast as room service or on a booking system to guarantee social distancing, as I had suggested. He stated that they couldn't manage that many covers of a morning (although I'd overheard staff the morning before say they'd had very few guests for breakfast and the hotel was not terribly busy at all.

He also questioned guests willingness to pay for a tray service to their rooms.

If we had known that a sale on rooms was a way of compensating for a substantially reduced standard, we'd have not booked. We are loyal to Village because of its standard of service, so this response was really disappointing.

As I mentioned to Dave, if local restaurants are reopening successfully, I'm sure with done creative thinking, the Village could do better. It's managing its lunch and dinner service.

This was our first time staying at a Village Hotel and it was very disappointing.

Firstly, upon arriving whilst the front of house contact was helpful with the self serve check in, when entering our room which had a sticker to confirm it was clean and ready, it was evident that it wasn’t!

The light switch for the bathroom was broken and fell on the floor and there were no bath towels in the bathroom. As there is no phone in the room and no way to contact reception, I had to return to request towels and maintenance in person which was promptly dealt with.

The bedroom was decorated in very dark tone and the lighting quite harsh. This only showed up the grubby mirror and dust/dirt under the desk area.

The bathroom had a string smell of urine too. The waterfall shower was very lacklustre and I’m so glad I didn’t have long hair otherwise I’m not sure soap could not have been rinsed thoroughly as it had little power.

Upon requesting a slightly later check out this morning at 8 am for only half an hour, the lady on the self service desk was quite brusk and it was an emphatic no!

At breakfast, my nephew and his young daughter with whom we had been visiting, wanted to join us but not have the full breakfast as they were going for a swim ( as members). Reluctantly the restaurant manager allowed them to join us having bought their drinks from Starbucks. I couldn’t eat my yoghurt from my paid breakfast so gave it to my nephew’s 6 yr old and I was severely reprimanded by said restaurant manager which I did not appreciate.

The Village Hotel concept is to use the app for everything but sadly this app does not allow you to do this. I tried calling the hotel before our trip and could not get through to anyone either.

I am highly disappointed and unhappy with the overall lack of customer service and whilst the bed was very comfy, I will not be using this hotel chain again. You get better service at a Travelodge/Premier Inn for half the price we paid!

I realise times have changed, but without putting the customer central to their business, this particular Village Hotel gets a huge thumbs down from me.

The hotel started on a high as we checked out we was greeted with extremely friendly staff. I was pleased and hoping that the rest of the staff was nice. As I entered the room I was pleased everything was perfect. After cleaning ourselves up we went to the pool and all the staff in the pool and spa area was helpful and polite. After our lovely experience in the pool. We went for dinner. This experience went perfect to absolutely terrible. The area was busy and full of drinkers watching extremely loud football. This didn’t start well but we ordered food to rude staff. When the food came my food was okay but as I love peanut butter I couldn’t complain but my girlfriend had a chicken wrap which was Luke warm and hard we had to order pizza in the room. After we had food we used the pool again and as I said before the staff we kind polite and chatty. The next day we had breakfast. Which was a horrible. The only good thing was one of the staff were chatty the rest were not. After breakfast. We went to the pool need I say more about the staff polite chatty and friendly. So here are few pointers when you stay at village hotels.
1. Go to the pool and use the sauna and steam room
2. Do not ever ever have food ever in the hotel as it is over priced and horrible.
