Malmaison Leeds garners praise for its inviting atmosphere and stylish decor, with many guests appreciating the comfortable furnishings despite a few remarks about dated areas. Service is generally acclaimed for being attentive and friendly, though there have been occasional disappointments with room service. The hotel's amenities, including the comfortable beds and quality breakfast, are frequently lauded, yet opinions on value and pricing diverge. While the location is celebrated for its convenience to local attractions, the rooms receive mixed reviews, with cleanliness applauded but some decor and maintenance issues called out.

Booked an overnight stay at this hotel for Valentines. Upon arrival at the hotel we were slightly early but the lovely lady on reception assured us this wasn't a problem and we could have immediate access to the room, which had been upgraded free of charge. Check in was swift and upon taking the lift we quickly arrived at our room on the 4th floor.
The room itself was very spacious and clean and the little touches of chocolates and robes etc were very well received. Also pleasantly surprised by the addition of a little fridge to keep our fizz cool.
Included in our room rate was a two course evening meal with Champagne & breakfast the following day, which if I'm honest I didn't have too high hopes for due to how reasonable the room rate was but I was really surprised with the extensive choice at dinner. We opted for steak which did carry a high supplement which I do feel could be reduced but in any event we decided to pay it and wasn't disappointed when it arrived. Only slight criticism was the food wasn't particularly hot by the time it reached us but was cooked perfectly to our order so we didn't feel it needed raising with the already busy enough service team. Breakfast again had an abundance of choice for hot food and the continental selection was vast.
All in all we had a great evening at the hotel, the staff were very accommodating and the value for money was exceptional. We will definitely return to this hotel in the summer months.

Booked 2 rooms as we were attending a show with our grown up daughter. 5 mins from the train station and the Headrow ideal location. Car park at the side of hotel very secure with discount. Booked breakfast on arrival £22.50 but come with a free cocktail at he bar which we used when returning at 10.30. Rooms were spotless quiet and spacious with everything needed. Breakfast had everything Full English Continental various egg variations pastry fruit etc. We will look at booking here next time we visit Leeds.

All we wanted was a great night of sleep and that’s exactly what we got. Would definitely choose Malmaison again. The room is compact and cosy and luxurious feeling. The bed was soft and fluffy. Most importantly (to me) the curtains were thick and successfully blocked morning sunlight so we slept in. Hooray.
Miro on reception was very accommodating and understanding, even ensuring we had a quiet room.
Glad I chose Malmaison Leeds.

So the positives.... the hotel is superbly located in the centre of Leeds, a few minutes from the action, although this means that there's no car park, and even the discounted price for the nearby Q Park isn't cheap.

The staff were efficient and friendly and the place has a cool vibe about it. The hotels 2 night minimum stay policy for standard rooms over the weekend forced us into a Club room for our one night Saturday night stay. Booking.com was £30 cheaper than the hotels website despite its 'best rate' claims by booking direct

This room (227) was clean, spacious and in an excellent location overlooking a 2 busy streets in Leeds that was excellent for people watching. A word of warning in that the nearby pubs and clubs kicked out some serious bass that can be heard in the room, but for us this positively reinforced the feel of inner city living. The decor was again modern and contemporary.

The negative was our food experience, not once but twice during our stay.
In the first instance in the bar, we ordered the beef patty and the black bean patty before heading to our event in Leeds. As soon as I bit into the patty (burger) it was tepid at best. Conscious of time I told my wife I was going to persevere (the fries were hot) but her black bean burger wasn't even that warm and was actually cold and undercooked in the middle.

We brought it to the waiters attention who, to be fair, was professionally apologetic, and took it away. The solution was a blast in the microwave which heated the fillings but pretty much destroyed the buns. A fresh serving of fries was also provided by means of reparation but, having eaten the original fries whilst waiting for the patties to be reheated, we couldn't eat them all. The experience was spoilt by then.

Fast forward to breakfast the next morning and the full English was ordered with poached eggs. Upon arrival, the food was nowhere near piping hot but just about warm enough until each of us punctured the poached eggs. In both case one was spot on but the second well undercooked resulting in undercooked gloop pooling around the rest of the breakfast. Time constraints meant we had to eat the rest despite it sitting in uncooked egg white. The rest of the breakfast was cool by the time we finished. At £19.50 per breakfast you'd expect a lot, lot better and I'd head into the city centre next time.

We again brought the issue to the waitress's attention, as the problem was there to see on our plates. She, interestingly, thanked us for bringing it to here attention, but didn't provide any sort of apology.

So full marks for the hotel experience, but a 2 out of 5 for the double trouble in their bar/restaurant and on the back of that alone (given the premium pricing) we'd try elsewhere for our upcoming next visit to Leeds.

I had high hopes for the Malmaison but have to admit, I left feeling very underwhelmed and disappointed.

The room was clean but a let down - the handwash pump dispenser didn’t work; the sink taps made an awful, loud noise when turned on; the towels were very poor quality and threadbare(!); and the room temperature would not cool down.

The only information in the room was a food menu. I was disappointed not to be asked how my stay was when I checked-out.

If staying in Leeds again I wouldn’t choose the Malmaison. For the price point, there are nicer hotels nearby that are much more welcoming and of a better standard.

Hi S1805, Thank you for taking the time to review and comment on your recent stay at the hotel. I'm sorry to hear that your visit did not live up to expectations. These little problems you encountered whilst in your room should not have happened, and rest assured the relevant departments have been notified. I am particularly disappointed that on departure you were not asked how your stay went, as we could have perhaps rectified some of the issues you faced there and then. Should you wish to discuss your stay any further, please don't hesitate to contact the hotel. Kind regards, Team Malmaison Leeds

Small cut backs increase at this hotel (and I guess everywhere!). We’ve been four times and the rooms are getting a bit scuffed now - this time there was no bottle of water in the room and no marmalade at breakfast. Carpet a bit (hmmm)

Breakfast portions are huge, and you won’t be disappointed there - gluten free well catered for. None dairy milks available.

Cocktails on the bar were a big disappointment - very sickly sweet and manufactured, no bourbon for an old fashioned and no glasses for the porn star martini.

We feel we may try a different hotel next time.

I recently visited the Malmaison on in Leeds on business and for once there isn’t much to say about this hotel as I was there for 12 hours and most of this I was asleep. The lady that worked on reception was lovely and personable, the room itself was nice and decor was modern. I actually booked a twin room and when I got there it was a double but that was fine. I really liked that there was a toiletries vending machine in reception as had I forgotten toothpaste and with the time of my arrival it wasn’t practical to go back out and get it so I used this. The only annoying thing about my stay was that I got to my room and there were 4 water glasses but not water at all. I know that you can drink tap water but I prefer not to and in a hotel expect glass bottled water in the room as standard. I had to go back downstairs to buy some but the vending machine was out so had to go to the bar in the end and the kind lady let me have it free of charge. Apart from that, it was good and I’d definitely stay again on business.

We had a group booking for 17th March for a birthday celebration. Sheryl the reception manager was outstanding managing our booking and making sure the rooms had been allocated on the same floor, next to each other and with early access.
Having returned from a day in Leeds at 9pm we decided to order room service, requesting 5 ham and cheese toasted sandwiches which you would think was simple. However the first disappointment was the call to say they had no ham available! The next was when we had to call after 40 minutes to find out where the order was. But the final and most unexpected disappointment was when received our order to find that it wasn’t actually a cheese toasted sandwich, because it lacked one key component, the cheese! We had basically received 5 toasted bread slices 😞. The reception staff were a little shocked when I explained this to them and asked for the £40+ to be refunded. Very disappointed with the service from room service and would suggest they need to review their menu and ingredients, and not send out inadequate food to customers.

Fantastic weekend. Upgraded to a club room was delighted with it. Spacious, great design and very comfortable. Booked bottomless brunch on the Saturday, three course meal ordered steak which was cooked to perfection. Endless Prosecco followed. We had to skip dessert was so full. Sunday booked roast dinner with glass champagne. Very good value, quality was superb and tons of veg sides. Matthew attended service both days and was outstanding, very helpful, courteous and professional a great ambassador for Malmaison. Couldn’t fault the entire weekend. Can’t wait to do it again

The Malmaison is a very well maintained and modern hotel.
I have stayed here for two weeks whilst in Leeds for an extensive training course. I have a further four weeks yet to stay.
The rooms are well appointed with flat screen tv's, lovely spacious bathrooms and tea and coffee making facilities.
At night, the rooms are quiet which has allowed me to study my notes from training and revise ready for the assessments. The large comfy beds have allowed me excellent sleep which in turn has aided my training.

Now on to the food served within the hotel. It is delicious and plentiful. Breakfasts are both buffet style for the continental tastes and there is a menu of cooked options as well.
The choice of evening meals is very good and everything is cooked to perfection. With half priced steak nights, burger and pint night and a few other offers to take advantage of, you can't go wrong staying in and eating in the hotel.

This brings me neatly on to the real gem in Malmaisons crown - The beautiful Chloe.
Chloe is one of the fabulous staff who look after diners at the hotel. She welcomes those arriving with a wonderful, friendly smile and her attentive care and service makes every mealtime even more enjoyable. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she obviously takes a great deal of pride in her role of looking after Malmaisons customers.

If you are looking for a good place to stay in Leeds that is well situated to explore the city, you would be well advised to book in at Malmaison.
