Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent hotel well placed only 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Plenty of space in the room and very quiet. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Friendly staff. Bathroom included bath and shower. Coffee machine and large screen tv also. First stay in a Clayton hotel won’t be the last

Strayed in Feb for a night away, just two of us for a shopping trip to Leeds. Hotel is lovely, modern, grand entrance and nice reception and bar area. Location - Nice quiet surrounding area. 10 mins walk from town centre and shops and pubs . 5 mins to the nearest restaurant. - 8.5/10 Facilities- tea and coffee provided in room, tv I’ve not seen anything with wifi code on or anyone mentioned it . Car parking on site ( round back ) plenty of spaces 12 a night. comfy bed, bathroom with shower and bath., plenty of towels. Wardrobe space for two - 8.5/10 Cleanliness - everything very clean 9.5/10 Well heated room too. Staff friendly and helpful and check in - out easy . Was allowed to check in at 11:30 as room was ready. 9/10 Bar and restaurant is in the same place, not had breakfast but their two curry dishes were very nice 9/10 Stay again ? Yes I would stay here again.

Nothing to fault at this hotel! Would recommend it to anyone staying in Leeds. The girls on the desk are lovely and always chatty. Louise who checked me in was so pleasant and helpful. Grace who greets you every morning for breakfast is also so so lovely and polite. She’s smiley every day without fail.

Lovely room and hotel for our 2 night stay, very clean and fresh. Carpark was ideal and easy to find. From entering the hotel to leaving all the staff were lovely and helpful with myself and my husband. Breakfast was great, plenty of choices. We had dinner & cocktails in the Inkwell Bar which was amazing. Ideal location approx 10 mins walk to the city centre for shopping, restaurants, bars etc. Definately recommend this hotel and we would go back here. Thank you to everyone at the Clayton Hotel Leeds! Busy hotel that is obviously geared up for business guests. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. Parking was not easy - very busy car park and no disabled bays visible or free. Another guest who stays there regularly told us that there are some disabled bays but that they just get used by any visitors because spaces are in demand. Beds were comfy, room was spacious and had the best iron I have ever used in a hotel, the flex was long - very user friendly. Breakfast was excellent, plenty to choose from and the staff were there if needed, but I loved that they were not intrusive and we could go back and forth for food. They just left us to enjoy it all and cleared away efficiently and quietly. I have one negative which for me personally was a big deal. I did report my thoughts to reception, not sure if they were passed on. I walk with a rollator walking frame, not very steady on my dodgy hip and don't want to stand out in a negative way because of it or demand 'special' treatment. Evening I went out to meet my partner, who was picking me up at the front of the hotel due to no available spaces near the car park lift. Looked at the steps, decided too risky. Looked at the ramp but then saw that there was a small group of young men gathered at the top of it who were smoking at the front of the hotel. Not wanting any fuss or to run a gauntlet of cigarette smoke I did pick my way carefully down the steps carrying my walker. On return I went up the ramp which was occupied on the bend by one smoker. I realised as I got nearer that there were 2 large bins with ash tray tops on the bend in the ramp. The smoker was mid call on his phone, his cigarette held at his side was face height to anyone in a wheelchair. He moved to one side but there is not a lot of room there. Honestly I am shocked- and saddened that this prestigious pleasant hotel allows / promotes use of the ramp by smokers - they are catered for because the bins are there. How about catering for guests who don't have much choice but to walk up and down that ramp. Next morning a group of 4 men standing with their cigarettes at the top of the ramp, close to the front door. They were talking about work and appeared quite comfortable out for their cigarettes at the main front door. I really like this hotel, would like to stay here again and don't wish to use my disability in a negative spiteful way but I am amazed at the smoking at the front - seems to be the normal routine and that's a shame for anyone who has to pass through a smoke cloud to get through the door. I feel sorry for wheelchair users who can't access the ramp easily - it is a pain - literally and emotionally to use steps because the smokers are using the ramp to smoke on. I don't have an alternative but if that was my responsibility I would be sure to look for one. Thank you to the staff who were pleasant helpful and kind. I would love to come back for a smoke free stay if that's possible in the future.

Came to this wonderful hotel in Leeds after looking at all the great reviews on here and it lived up to all the good reviews. The hotel is clean and tidy and the rooms are lovely and tidy and come with everything you need like a good tv and a great double bed with excellent quality linen. The down stairs in the lobby is very up market even my friend said this and was shocked it more like a 5 star hotel not a 3 star hotel. Leeds is a wonderful city. With everything on your doorstep off this hotel. Me and my friends love to travel and we be looking out for this chain in future. Thanks to the great staff and super great management team keep up the hard work thanks again

Brilliant review and so pleased to hear you and your friends had a great stay with us. You are definitely correct when you say Leeds is a wonderful City & it's great to be a part of it. Take a look online where our other hotels are, but make sure you all come back to Leeds again in the near future. In April, we are having a refurbishment in our Bar, so it'll be worth coming back from May onwards to see how good that looks! Roger - General Manager

Sometimes things don’t quite go to plan and sometimes fellow guests who have no respect are ok with spoiling hotel stays with their noise and behaviour. This isn’t unfortunately under the direct control of the hotel as they can’t spot and deal with every oik that stays there. City Centres in the UK on Saturday night have plenty of them. This hotel is very clean, comfortable and well run. The restaurant, bar and facilities all great for a stay in Leeds. When things do go wrong at a Hotel, or you have an issue, what makes a good hotel is the management. I have you say Tristan was empathetic, professional made good my experience. My issue may or not have been isolated but I was generally impressed with how the aftermath was handled. It’s just a shame some members of the public only care about themselves and behave accordingly. I’ll leave it at that.

I'm really sorry to hear you were disturbed by other guests during your stay. It is very frustrating when guests disturb others in any hotel to be blunt and this can happen anywhere I'm afraid. It's good to hear Tristan looked after you and am very grateful for the way in which you've handled it. I hope it won't deter you from staying again in the future. Roger - General Manager

From the moment I stepped into the hotel, the staff at reception jumped to my attention, especially a young lady called Louise. I have mobility issues, and they helped me with everything. A young man named Luke also went out of his way to help me. The rooms were fantastic and easily accessible. Overall, I'd stay there the next time I'm in Leeds.
