Detailed Reviews
I booked this based on the reviews as I wasn't sure about the lack of 24 hour reception. And I was right to do so.
The main parlour where breakfast is served is gorgeous - lots of art deco and windows to watch the world go by - and breakfast is great too. Was delighted by the choice for vegans.
The room was clean and had great little touches that made it comfortable and pleasant.
The location near the train station was really useful for turning up late like I did after a 2 hour train delay.
And the self-checkin was easy, so straightfoward.
The team had replied to my emails leading up to my visit really promptly and I just have nothing to fault about the place.
Thanks for a lovely stay!

We cannot really fault our stay at Caboose. From my initial communication when I had doubts about booking, to the clear instructions I received about how to check in after hours, and the wonderful staff and service while staying there.
You get a Continental Breakfast with a great selection, a kettle and hot drink making facilities in your room, which also included soya and oat milk. There wasn't any sweetener.
The building is located near a busy road, however it is within a stone's throw of Salisbury train station.
Nice touches: There was a folder on the bed that greeted us when we arrived which told us everything we needed to know.
Complimentary cans of still water and flapjacks were supplied and magically reappeared on the second day when we returned to our room.
The 1920s Art Nouveau style definitely appealed to me and was one of the reasons why I chose to stay at Caboose.
Our room was lovely, it was very clean and we loved its style and look.
And it was a great price considering an eat as much as you want Continental Breakfast is included in the price of the room.
Recommended. 👍😊

Loved the style - the rooms felt fresh and lively. Staff were excellent, couldn't have wished for more friendly and approachable people. Even smaller details such as the soaps were taken care of - good quality unlike other hotels / B&Bs; however in my opinion the toilet paper was like 40 grit sandpaper and didn't feel (literally) up to the same standards as everything else.
Breakfast could have been larger but tasted top notch. I don't think a small sausage and a single rasher of bacon is enough for a full English but I appreciate this is included for two people in the £100 a night cost so perhaps I am being a little greedy.
If I ever plan on staying in Salisbury again it will have to be Caboose.

Quite how this property has gained 5 stars is inexplicable. I can only think that the owners wrote the reviews themselves. I understand that the hotel has changed hands recently. We booked with the original proprietors and were not informed of the change before arrival. We were told that breakfast would be served in a separate establishment, Hettie Bells, located nearby. They neglected to tell us that this is a grubby pub and that the breakfast area is little more than a station cafe serving limited and unappealing fare!
The room itself was fine though small and very noisy. Earplugs were left in the room for use by guests! The carpet was stained. The entrance to the room was via a dirty, smelly hallway which was extremely off putting on arrival. This was altogether an experience I do not wish to repeat.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. All feedback, positive or negative, is incredibly valuable to the team. I am sorry to hear you feel negatively about your experience with us. As stated, we have experienced a sudden change of ownership. We are doing our very best to ensure that guests are still having a wonderful experience. It is disappointing to hear we did not achieve this during your stay. The pub has been renovated as recently as two months ago, and great effort from myself and the rest of the team is taken to ensure guests have a great experience. Our housekeeping team work tirelessly to keep rooms tidy and guests needs met. All guests were notified regarding the roadworks ongoing in the town centre, which stared last year. This is available on all local news forums and newspapers, so I do apologise if this contributed towards your negative review. Again, I apologise that Caboose did not meet your expectations, but hope that you will return to Salisbury again to explore other venues that may be more suited to your taste. We hope to welcome you back again, even if it is just for a drink in our lovely (newly renovated) beer garden! Warm regards Jessica Hotel Supervisor

When we arrived the initial impression of the decor was shock making us wonder if we had made a mistake. However, the extremely friendly greeting we received soon put our fears aside. Our room was very clean, comfortable and modern with an ensuite shower room and very nice toiletries together with the usual tea/coffee making facilities etc. Breakfast was amazing with all food freshly prepared and well presented although the portion sizes are generous so be warned as the Granola followed by a Full English is a challenge, albeit a very pleasant one. We re-visited a few days later for an afternoon cream tea and were served beautiful, warm, scones, cream and jam for a very cheap price. All staff we encountered at the premises were friendly and helpful. Overall a visit and stay at Caboose is an amazing experience and we have already recommended the location to our friends and we will be going back.

Stayed here for a few days while visiting family in the area. I had everything I needed without needing to ask, the staff were so friendly, especially James the hotel manager, who was an amazing host. The toiletries in the room (Bramley I think) were divine, and I greatly enjoyed that they came in a full sized bottle!
Breakfast was definitely a highlight, huge portions and the best coffee I've ever had in a hotel, all set in the most incredibly unique breakfast room.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and won't think of staying anywhere else when I next visit Salisbury.

A very retro small hotel beautiful decorated to give an art deco authentic look, small but cosy breakfast and bar area. Staff very friendly and excellent attentive service.
Breakfast menu very comprehensive with a great range and all food beautifully presented and local produce used where possible.
Rooms at front can be noisy as you are on a busy road and opposite the train station, however from 23.00 till 0600 it is quieter so don’t go to bed to early or have ear plugs.
Rooms nicely presented and on suites have walk in showers so no bath to climb over which is a bonus if like me you are not the athlete you once were 😀.
There is no lift (elevator for our former colonial brethren 🤭) and the rooms are on two levels, the first, up one flight of stairs, the second up another, however the staff will gladly take your luggage up and down on request.
Cocktails in the quirky bar should be a must as would afternoon tea but book for afternoon tea as it is popular.
It is a short walk into the town centre (10 mins or less).
We will certainly be back but would avoid the front rooms unless you are a heavy sleeper.

Brilliant boutique hotel in a great location. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful, eclectic décor! Comfy clean rooms, upgraded modern bathrooms and modern doule glazed windows. Earplugs are complementary - so potential noisy location was no problem at all. Free water & mini cakes in the room are complementary too. Kettle and tea bags are provided. Lovely breakfast including vegan options.
The young woman at the front desk gave us the best customer service we have had in a very long time! Really great stay. Would recommend. Near the station and a 7 minute walk into the main centre. Well exceeded our expectations, 5 stars!

Large, good rooms, with good beds. Well equipped too. The rooms smell a bit "raw" and may well have some hidden moisture damage, which is so common in England. One of our two rooms faced a road, but that too is hard to avoid in the middle of a city. It is incredibly convenient with the proximity to the train station. Fantastic bar, and quite ok breakfast. There could have been some tomatoes, some cucumber or peppers, but there was plenty of eggs, cheese and meat. I had arranged for gluten-free breakfast, and got it after reminding them of it. Very nice staff. (NB! This hotel mostly has no reception, you get a key card and check in yourself).

We had the pleasure of staying here for two nights bed and breakfast over a Friday and Saturday. We were recommended this boutique hotel by friends and we were not disappointed.
Firstly they have an amazing team of staff who simply can not do enough for you, Tiffany the hotel manager, Heidi and Jazz on cocktails, they are a young and passionate team and they really stand out.
The rooms are spotless and beautifully furnished and bathrooms are modern and spacious, the breakfast was exceptional and so well cooked and the nicest coffee we have ever had.
The cocktail parlour lounge is fantastic with a vibrant theme and front of house and drinks team again were exceptional, the cocktails are very well made and come with some very quirky features.
We would highly recommend anyone wishing to stay in Salisbury that you book this property, easy parking at the station and very reasonable excellent location for exploring salisbury.
Also excellent value for money.
well done what a gem!!!
