Very friendly welcome and great service throughout. Large, clean room with very comfortable 2x good size single beds. Lovely setting with great views across the meadows to the cathedral from the rear bar and terrace. Only 10-15 walk into the city, with the hotel offering a free shuttle service alternative. Only spoilt in the middle of the night by VERY loud TV & talking/shouting, probably from above.

Hotel's Favourite
This is an excellent hotel. The staff are professional and friendly. The place is very clean and tidy in all areas. Our bedroom overlooking the two rivers and cathedral was very well appointed , clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. The combined air con and heater is very effective. Good tea and coffee making facilities. No issues with the free WiFi which seemed very fast. The pillows were ok , a bit on the firm side. It would be nice to have a choice of feather pillows available. The car park has ample space and as we had checked in online the process was swift. The staff took the time to explain aspects of the hotel and escort us to the room. They did offer to carry bags to the room. The lack of an evening meal service is our opinion a positive given it is ‘replaced’ by a complimentary return shuttle service to the city centre bars and restaurants. This saved about £14 on the typical return taxi ride and gives you access to the very numerous and wide ranging restaurants in the city. The drivers of the shuttle are exceptionally attentive and actually took us door to door rather dropping off at the market square as the weather was appalling. The buffet style breakfast is good with a range of continental breakfast items as well as the full English cooked breakfast. Two items I think could be improved. These are the coffee and the black pudding. We would have preferred to have cafetière coffee rather than a pour from a filter pot. Filter coffee tends to vary in quality depending how long it has stood on the heater and we found this to be the case. Coffee on the first day was great , on the second not so good. We tried the black pudding on the second day. It was tough and dry and looked like it had being warmed up in a micro or oven , rather than fried? The bar area is bright and elegant in a high end boutique hotel style. It is not a place to lounge in comfort in for long periods of time but this for us was fine as we just used it to have a couple of pre dinner cocktails prior to getting the shuttle. It has a good range of draft and bottle drinks and cocktails. Unfortunate the weather was awful during the visit so we couldn’t use the terrace. It does look like a great place to sit a while watching the swans and geese on the rivers! Reading some of the poor reviews from a last year it is clear the hotel has taken note and addressed them. We did however still have a problem using the hand shower head. Very difficult to get the temperature right and very sensitive to other water use in the bathroom. We are planning a return visit to Salisbury in the autumn and plan to return to Riverside if they have availability. We have no reservation in recommending this hotel to others.

We booked one night in this lovely hotel. The staff was incredibly polite. Especially the Barman and Rennato! The atmosphere was amazing. Great was also the bus shuttle to Salisbury for dinner - and back. Great stay! We would definitely come again!

We just spent two nights here ,on our second visit and were made really welcome on arrival .Lovely location with views over to the cathedral ,however we really missed the option of having an in-house meal , we remember the food here was of an exceptional high standard and so tasty and that's slightly disappointing even if they do provide free minibus transport to and from Salisbury.

Thank you for your feedback. With regards to the services and amenities that we have to offer, we believe that we are as transparent as we can be. As much as we would like to reintroduce our dinner service, there are no plans to do so in the near future and we shall continue to offer our complimentary shuttle service when ever we are able. We hoped that you wouldn’t review us so harshly given your near excellent stay.

Found this hotel online as we hadn’t been to Salisbury before and went by other recommendations. We found the staff very friendly and helpful upon arrival . We were allocated a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the car park , no real issues with that but I was surprised that the double glazed window didn’t fit well as it did allow some noise in , didn’t stop us from having a good nights sleep. Breakfast was first rate with a good variety of cereals , and a help yourself hot buffet . Found the hotel to be good value as they had a shuttle service to drop us into Salisbury , a couple of free drink tokens which were not expecting .

The room was lovely, spacious and such a fabulous venue over the Cathedral and rivers! The food was delicious, both at dinner and breakfast. All the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive! I would highly recommend this venue, we were here for a conference, however, it would be a great place to stay for a weekend away!

Many thanks to Victoria and your staff for making our anniversary weekend stay so welcoming. We are not regular visitors to the Wiltshire area, but should we find ourselves in your neck of the woods again, we would not hesitate to rebook a room at The Riverside. Thank you once again

We had a lovely stay at Riverside for two nights and our mother’s Celebration of Life gathering was also held in the function room. We were made to feel very welcome and the service and attention to detail was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble to make our stay as comfortable as possible and the staff were all so helpful and accommodating. The rooms were large and comfortable and had all amenities. Breakfast was excellent and the bar area very comfortable in the evening. It was a great place to stay and hope to return again soon under happier circumstances.

This hotel is perfect! Very clean, very helpful staff, wonderful location (we had a view of the river). The walk into Salisbury is not far and very scenic but there is also a free shuttle in the evenings should you choose not to walk. I highly recommend this hotel, our whole experience staying here was faultless.

The Hotel is in a great location with lovely views. All of the staff were very friendly and the service was very personable. When we checked in we also received a voucher each for a drink of wine or beer which was an added bonus! The room was lovely and everywhere was clean and well presented. There was a free minibus service to and from the City Centre although we chose to walk as it wasn't very far. We would definitely go there again and would highly recommend to others.
