A pub full of character, excellent food and a wide range of Windsor & Eton Brewery beers. I stayed three nights in a single room that was completely adequate for my needs, with en suite and a view out over the High Street. The staff were very friendly and I would certainly go back and stay again. Although not the right time of year, they have a very large, partially covered outside seating area. With my set of keys I could come and go whenever I wanted. Currently they don't serve breakfast, but there were two cafes opposite, so no problem.

We were really impressed with this characterful Inn. The staff were professional and very welcoming, a special mention to Finn for doing everything he could to make us feel welcome and ensure all out dietary and comfort meeds were met! The room was very clean and comfortable, the evening meal of beer battered fish and chips was delicious, and after tasting the capuccino my friend is now a convert from flat white! If I come back to Windsor in the future this is where I will be booking to stay! Thank you to Paul and Denise for making this such a nice place to be.

Great location just over the pedestrian bridge to Windsor. Room was small but comfortable. Nearby Meadow Lanes Car Park was convenient. Rooms are situated just over this popular pub on the High Street. This made for a lot of street noise at all hours of the night not to mention the noise from the repeatedly slamming door in the hallway.

We'd booked a table for noon, most staff hadn't made it to work due to Windsor being gridlocked. None of that is why I'm writing this, we weren't in a rush, that was fine. If you want to order food you go to the bar, if you want more drinks you go to the bar, if you want to get anything you go to the bar...that's ok when the queue isn't 20 minutes! No table service for desserts or more drinks yet plenty of staff. One server said she's ask someone to take our desserts order but all sh did was explain that we had to go a queue. Food was ok but not good enough to offset the queuing regime. Doubt we'll go again.

My friend and I arrived just after the pub had opened, so perhaps the chef, if they employed one, wasn't ready. We ordered pie and veg for quickness. An American Gi would have arrived quicker. The veg, carrots, cabbage (I think) and some unknown growth Alan Titchmarsh would have had trouble identifying, held their shape only by some collective act of nostalgia. They looked as though they had lost their way to a pigs' swill bucket. It was simply inedible. Perhaps they had been flame-roasted. If so, they should have been served by a priest in a garden of remembrance. If the pie was homemade, it must have lived in a chapel of rest. Frankly, this meal would have got a Third World airline grounded. Well over-priced at £14, it was truly dreadful. They say you get what you pay for. If only. George Wheeler.

Stayed here for a night after two days at Legoland, you enter through the bar and there is a kind of reception beyond it. They tell you that there are no breakfast facilities and how to get into the hotel if you are going to be out late, but not how to get out in the morning, more on that later. They showed us to the family room, through a rabbit warren of passageways where the roof is so low that there is foam fitted to stop you bumping your head, now they do say it is a 300-year-old inn. The first impressions of the room were good, large and on different levels, with plenty tea and coffee. They tell you at time of booking that the family room does overlook the beer garden and can be quite noisy, there is a form of double glazing, but this was one of the hottest nights of the year, however, there was a fan in the room and a pint of ice from the bar turned this into our air conditioning system. Now for the problems, when we plugged in our phone chargers all the lamps started to flicker, this really needs checked. Then my partner said the carpet outside the shower room was damp, now this could have been due to the extremely loose hot tap in the wash hand basin, it was so lose you had to hold it with one hand and turn it on with the other, the water was scalding so when you held it to turn it off it burnt you, not good when you are trying to encourage your 7 year old grandson to always wash his hand. Also, there was no plug so you couldn’t mix the hot water with cold to cool it down. In the morning the more likely reason for the damp carpet was found, when you turned on the shower water went everywhere as the shower rose was old and broken, then the water didn't drain away quick enough, and the shower tray overflowed. I would have mentioned these problems to the staff in the morning if there had been anyone there, but there wasn't. The door to the bar was locked and there was a key box on the wall to leave the keys then you exited the property through an emergency exit, which led to a narrow passageway that contained the bins, delightful, then into the beer garden. The main door back into the bar was also locked and you had to work out that there was a gate that you could get out, but you wouldn't have been able to get back in if you had forgotten anything. One other thing, we put our grandson to bed early and I got a couple of drinks from the bar to take to the room, over £22 for a large G&T and a Whisky & Ginger Ale, now that is even more expensive than Legoland and I thought that would have been hard to beat!

My friend and stayed in the family room. We really enjoyed our stay there. Every staff member we encountered were helpful and polite. It did get a little loud Saturday night as patrons enjoyed the pub below our window. But the location can’t be beat. Would definitely stay here again.

I took friends to the George for Sunday lunch after having a lovely meal there recently and am delighted to say it was just as good. Great lunch, easy to book and we really enjoyed it. Kam was great, helpful and even managed to arrange for special gravy for one of me friends. Thank you.

Booked into the George for two nights. The room itself we didn't like, it was small and extremely basic in fact I'd go as far as to describe it as drab and also uncomfoftable as far as the actual small bed was concerned. I'd give the accommodation 2/5 and have to say we would not stay here again. On the other hand the lounge/bar was great. A warm cosy place with lovely staff and very good food. We had a really nice lunch here and enjoyed a couple of drinks when returning for the night. I'd rate the bar and food 4/5. Wouldn't hesitate to come back when visiting Windsor again but only to visit for a meal or drink, not to stay.

Though the hotel rooms are ready for a refresh, the location of the hotel/pub to Windsor Castle and the friendliness of the staff made the stay very worthwhile and very good value for the money. Front staff (shoutout to Ben and the ladies!) gave us a lot of help with cabs and getting our documents run off for our flight back to Canada. Everyone was happy to help wherever they could. It all felt extremely quaint and down-to-earth. Only problem was lack of any consistent internet in our particular room. We would stay there again though and definitely recommend it!
