Oakley Court is a quintessential country house. But that's not it... there's more, a lot more. If we said to you a location that's been the setting of many films, with 94 bedrooms, its own polo team and Her Majesty The Queen as a visitor would you believe us? Luckily finding out is easy. Whether you're coming for business or pleasure, our rural beauty on the River Thames makes us a real getaway location for those wanting to escape the hectic routine of the city, or just life in general. Our unique history has over time helped to form an exciting character that's distinguished but unspoilt, charming and vibrant. Just kick back and relax, let us pour you a glass of champagne (or two!) - this is your time now, there's no routine here. Cosy, comfortable and luxurious, that's all the important bits you need to know for now. Come and stay, be wined and dined on a set that's created by us and narrated by you to produce an experience that's entirely unique and is yours alone.

My boyfriend and I came here for 1 day and night. We arrived around 12pm and since it was the first day that they have opened since lockdown all was still a little chaotic. We couldn't enter the hotel as it was still being refurbished so we were told to go and grab some lunch. There was no table available as we did not book (there were plenty of tables free as it looked) so we were sent to the Garden bar, which is absolutely stunning!
Unfortunately they only do Pizza from 2pm. We then rented an electric boat for an hr which was lovely but very pricey (£50 p/hr)
When we came back we had some drinks (£14 for a double G&T) and Pizza. After 3pm we were able to go to our room. We had an upgrade to a riverside executive room. The interior was a little worn down and very rustic.
Overall the grounds are stunning, staff is wonderful and polite, the rooms are not the best but you can have a great time if you are happy to pay the price.

There were no masks worn, neither by staff nor by guests, you just had your temperature checked at the entrance.

I have just returned from a stay with a group of friend's to celebrate a 50th birthday. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and made to feel valued by the attentive amazing staff. We were met by the fantastic FOH manager Sofian who gave us a tour of the building which s truly gorgeous and faultless. We were staying in the beautiful Boathouse rooms with a view of the river. The rooms are perfectly equipped, elegant and luxurious with everything you need and our request for ice for the in room cocktails was quickly accommodated. We really appreciated the clear information about what was included in the price of the room (snacks, soft drinks etc.) which enabled us to sit back, relax and enjoy! We had booked afternoon tea which was delicious, the perfect amount and light enough to allow us to enjoy the wonderful birthday cake we had ordered. The service from all the staff was impeccable and a special mention to Raph a rather cheeky charmer who made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful afternoon. After an evening in Windsor we returned for drinks late in the evening and again were warmly welcomed by the staff who prepared our drinks which we enjoyed in front of a roaring log fire whilst listening to an eclectic mix of vinyl records! The rooms were lovely and quiet which meant a great nights sleep to awake and enjoy our breakfasts followed by a stroll around the grounds and discovering the walled gardens and the amazing Summer River House was a real treat. Throughout our stay we were so well looked after, special thanks to Sofian and Raph and many others whose names we did not manage to take, in these difficult times for hospitality Oakley Court has managed to provide the most excellent guest experience.. I cannot rate Oakley Court highly enough, it has all the elements for an unbeatable stay, we will definitely return.

Without doubt, the hospitality sector has been hard hit, if not the hardest, yet this place doesn't think they need to try that hard! lets see how they fair over the next 12 months.

We were telling some friends on the boat with us how amazing this place was so we thought wed pay a visit as we cruised upstream on the river for morning coffee. We telephoned ahead and were told, no issue just moor up and come in!

We headed to the terrace and were immediately directed to a tent some 100m away.

We sat at a table but with no sign of anyone we heading into the makeshift tent and were greeted by a very pleasant young lady but it became clear, ill trained by management.

No request for our details i.e. track and trace! We asked for a pot of Decaffeinated tea, we can’t do that came the response. A hotel of this standing and they can't do that, really?

We ordered a cafetière of filter coffee, a pot of regular tea, a pot of earl grey, extra hot latte and a glass of orange juice.

A simple request and one that was accepted and paid for, although it seemed a chore that it would be brought to the table.

What arrived a cup of coffee, warm (at best) latte, tea cup of warm water with a teabag in it (no saucer, YES NO SAUCER) and no cutlery!

When we asked where the pot of tea and cafetière of coffee was ‘it’s here’ came the response pointing at the cups! No where’s the tea pot, no we don't do that came the response.

WOW!

So we had to take the teabags out with our fingers, luckily the water was tepid!

So, a little later I emailed guest relations to ask if this was the POST COVID19 lockdown, the response....immediately blamed the member of staff, no acknowledgement that management may have a part to play here! They offered to welcome us back on the terrace, rather than their tent 9unfortunately due to the EA's poorly maintained assets we got stuck as a lock and couldn't make a return visit.

What was interesting was the lack of ownership, the ease they accepted Ritz prices but gave at best. a'grassy spoon' cafe service. No offer of a refund, all in all a Rocky Horror Nightmare!

Booked afternoon cream tea. My wife was pleased that they had a savory option (Same sandwiches plus Mini Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Beef & Horseradish, Prawn Cocktail, Quiche and Sausage Roll). The food was tasty and you have a wide selection of tea and coffee plus hot chocolate. Had to try the apple strudel tea, which did taste of apple strudel. We ask for some more of their cakes as they were tasty, however they did charge an additional cost to extra cakes, which they didn't make aware.

Although the hotel advises that "trained on our new Covid-19 procedures.... and cleaning our surfaces and touch points regularly." However whilst we was at the hotel for a couple of hours we didn't see any cleaning. In fact a few staff members walked through the restaurant from outside without wearing any face mask.

Dear Bigjohn001, Thank you for your review and for joining us for Afternoon Tea. We are delighted to hear that you found the food tasty and that you got the chance to sample our new Savoury Afternoon Tea. We stock a wide range of hot drinks all of which are available to our guests who join us for Afternoon Tea. I completely agree that the Apple Strudel tea is delicious! Since the start of the lockdown we have worked very hard to ensure our staff and guests feel safe when they visit us. I can confirm that our tables and touch points are being cleaned regularly by our team and I do apologise that you did not see this during your visit to us but I can assure you this is being done and that we have been marked as a Covid safe hotel. We do also have several other measures in place including track and trace scanning on arrival and socially distanced tables. Kindly note, masks are not mandatory outside due to the natural ventilation. We hope to welcome you back to Oakley Court in the future. Kind Regards Leanne H, Oakley Court Guest Relations

We stayed in the twixmas of Christmas, and had a couple of rooms; and we have stayed before. It's definitely better in Summer, though I enjoyed it, it is a tad too expensive really, given the changing rooms are better in a municipal public swimming pool. Really rusty now, and something desperately needs to be done. I had also forgotten that the actual frontage to walk along the river bank you can't just go left or right at the riverbank. They recommended a pub, the Greene Oak, which was fantastic for lunch, but not good to walk to with dog and child, as no pavement. I loved it, so much so, we ordered more food and had no room to eat in the evening, which seemed spooky quiet, however, come the morning there were loads of very young kids running around. They should have had a member of staff cooking pancakes for them, as they were all having a go at doing it themselves, breaking eggs, so not so nice for other guests. These large groups also took up lots of the waiters time. So I felt a tad sorry for the staff as they looked harassed.

We had a two night stay at Oakley Court with our small dog . The building and setting are very impressive. The location right on the River is stunning and the grounds are very well kept . There is an outdoor tented river bar and it was lovely to relax in the deckchairs or sit at the tables by the river for a drink .
The Terrace Restaurant was excellent and allowed the dog on the terrace . The food was locally sourced ,& delicious. The staff were very attentive . We sat outdoors for breakfast too because we had the dog . The staff again were excellent. I’m unsure how we would have eaten the included breakfast if the weather had not been good , as the dog was not allowed in the restaurant .
The hotel grounds are great with the dog and they do a “ dog package” They really do need to have a designated dog bin somewhere to put the dog waste though .

We paid extra to have a river view room . The room was large and spacious and the bed a super king size . The furniture was a little tired but in keeping with the decor of the gothic mansion . I was happy with the dual aspect of it .
My only gripe about the room was the noise . We had the room on the end (310 ) I think the ground floor rooms are used for those with dogs . When I booked I was told we got the last river view room . Our room was next to some kind of generator / refrigeration unit which ran constantly causing a humming noise - when it kicked in , it created a loud noise and ran all night, so sleep wasn’t as restful as I would have liked . Indeed one window in the room was frosted so you didn’t see the generator.
I didn’t want to move from the river view so put up with it , but when you are paying over £300 a night , this shouldn’t be an issue .
I mentioned it when I was checking out and they seemed surprised and said they would inform maintenance- they must know about it already so why put people in that room ? Having read on here since , others have mentioned it so of course they know . I feel this let down the hotel and stopped me from giving it top rating .

I booked an afternoon tea for my mother's 88th birthday in October 2020 and it exceeded our expectations.

When we arrived our table was ready for us in a beautiful room with large windows with views of the Thames, a cosy fireplace and perfectly decorated English drawing room.

The waitresses explained the menu and were most attentive. We never felt rushed and were able to take our time enjoying one of the best traditional afternoon teas we have ever had. The sandwiches were so fresh and tasty and they even bought more sandwiches to our table after we had finished them. The hand made cakes and scones with pots of clotted cream and jam were simply divine!

We especially enjoyed trying the numerous specialist teas from the menu and had individual tea pots of apple strudel tea, green sencha, jasmine pearls, chamomile, rooibos tiramisu, earl grey and peppermint.

The waitresses were attentive, always there to take more orders of tea and were lovely to talk to. However, it was a shame that in such a wonderful location as Oakley Court, that the waitresses didn't have a more 'traditional style' of dresscode (as you would normally expect in such a unique setting), as it would have looked far better than the casual attire they wore.

My mother thoroughly enjoyed her birthday afternoon tea and we look forward to having another one in the not to distant future as this is a special place and the quality of the afternoon tea was first class.

Dear Elaine M, Thank you very much for your 5* review following your visit with your family for Afternoon Tea for your Mother's 88th birthday – we are delighted that you enjoyed your time with us! We have recently changed our uniforms to allow our guests to feel more relaxed whilst visiting with us. This decision was made after receiving feedback from guests who had stayed with us who found that our previous uniform made us “unapproachable” - we felt that this change would benefit our guests. However, as with everything we know that this change will not be to everyone’s personal taste. Please do share your experience with your friends and family and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!

We’ve stayed in many hotels over the years, this by far had to be our best family trip. It had the perfect mix of relaxation and excitement to keep a 6 year old from being bored. It wasn’t totally child orientated but just enough.

Our room was beautiful, so spacious even with an extra single bed for our child. We opted for the mini sleepover package with a colouring book, colours, teddy and duck food - sadly no guarantee of any ducks.

The grounds are beautiful. We visited the river and sat under the willow tree. Sadly no ducks to feed - this is our only niggle. We watched the rowing boats pass. My daughter loved visiting the bug hotel and looking at all the roses.
The pool was a lovely experience in lockdown, we prebooked as the pool is limited to 4 people an hour. It was so peaceful.

We had both dinner and breakfast in the terrace restaurant. Food was perfect, no complaints.

The staff.... well this is definitely our selling point to return!! So friendly, the concierge made a little lady feel like a princess in the castle. He showed a real interest.
We had such a wonderful dining experience, all thanks to Sarah our waitress.
Our daughter had been gifted by two different staff members Oakley Court bears... totalling three bears. One spoilt and happy little lady.

We had the best time. Thank you.

We finally got to have a family 70th birthday celebration week-end at The Oakley Court, postponed due to lockdown . It was great. All staff and service without exception were excellent. The hotel has been spruced up during lockdown, and the grounds are in good shape too (although not all rooms were open and there is still some work going on in the far corners of the gardens). Our Mansion House room with river views was very comfortable, with lots of quirky features. Our guests were in "standard" or "medium" rooms in the East Wing and they all said they were well-sized, comfortable, as you would expect for a hotel of this type. Facilities such as tennis courts, bikes and swimming pool, and for hire electric river boats all made the weekend especially for the children. The "Summer River House" is a lovely facility/area for Soho House members ( as noted on the hotel website ("a new members space" but it is also for hotel residents. It seems to get busy at the weekend
