Nestled in the lea of Broadway hill and standing in a little over eight acres of parkland grounds and gardens you will find the romantic Cotswold hideaway, Abbots Grange. Secluded, yet only 2 minutes walk from Broadway's 'picture perfect' village high street with its delightful array of independent boutique shops, restaurants and inns. This magical, award winning monastic manor has all the comforts you would expect from an AA five gold star 'highly commended' guest house. Bedrooms are equipped to a high standard with four poster beds, flat screen TVs and seating areas. Beds in all rooms and suites are dressed with the finest Egyptian cotton sheets to ensure a blissful nights sleep. Thick, fluffy white towels, bath robes and complimentary toiletries complete the en-suite bathrooms. The oldest dwelling in Broadway, Abbots Grange was built in about 1320 as the summer manor for the Abbot of Pershore. There are over 700 years of history to absorb here, perhaps while you unwind in front of the roaring log fire over afternoon tea... or by candlelight after dinner? Breakfast at Abbots Grange is a celebration of all things local. Served in the panelled dining room at the round table, you will find a mouth watering selection of fresh berries and seasonal fruits. Local sausages and smoked bacon together with Cotswold free range eggs. We offer a delicious vegetarian full English breakfast alternative, artisan baked breads and pastries from our own bakery - Huffkins - together with freshly brewed 100% Arabica coffees and loose leaf teas.

Property's Favourite Review
My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights. We just absolutely love this place and will be coming back. The reasons we loved it are as follows:

1) The history of the Grange is amazing. To think that I was staying in a place that Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde, William Morris, and others had stayed in was surreal.

2) Probably the best part of staying at Abbots Grange is the Great Room. There are several couches, a self service bar, and a fire place in the great room. The Great Room just lends itself to relaxation and meeting new people that are also staying at the Abbots Grange. It is the heartbeat of Abbots Grange and is amazing.

3) The breakfast is superb. There is always a daily special that is quite tasty, and the other options were also wonderful too. Fantastic breakfast.

4) Location, location, location. Abbots Grange is located just off the main street (High Street) in Broadway. It is the perfect location. Additionally, Broadway is the perfect location to be able to explore a lot of the other villages in the Cotswolds

5) The rooms. We stayed in the Elizabethan suite. It is so beautiful with so much old world charm, but not stuffy. The ceilings are low and the decor is dark, which I normally don't like. HOWEVER, the low ceilings and dark decor lend itself to making it the coziest room that I have ever stayed in. With the decor and the history of Abbots Grange, you can't help but feel like you are being transported to a bygone era of creativity and history being made. SUPERB.

6) The people. Everyone we met that both worked there and also other guests were just great. Abbots Grange is a place that lends itself to laughter, conversations by the fire, and relaxing with other people and all the staff that always had a smile on their faces.

We arrived really early due to the storm and were so warmly welcomed by Angela and Valerie! We were given a tour of this amazing historic building and the knowledge shown was incredible. This fantastic place is obviously run by staff who are genuinely proud of where they work and love their jobs - they are both a credit and should be valued. The location is great- go through the secret garden gate and you are right in the middle of broadway- unfortunately due to the weather we could not enjoy the village properly and getting back to Abbot’s grange we had complimentary Afternoon tea and then sherry and port. Our room was amazing with vaulted ceiling and the most comfortable bed!!!!!
Cannot wait to return and thank you so much.

We had a wonderful couple of nights here staying in the Monet room.
The peace and relaxation and comfort to be enjoyed here is better than exceptional.
It’s very handy for the town on foot which is accessible through the garden gate.
The lounge and honesty bar are comfy and well stocked.
There were only 2 points that could be improved upon.
1. The tea and coffee in the room is served with disposable paper cups rather than china which we prefer.
2. The breakfast is good with a wide and varied choice. But we had full English breakfast on both days but the bacon, sausage and hash browns had been pre cooked and kept warm for some time which impacted on the quality.

Overall though lives up to its 5*****

We felt the hotel lacked a lot considering the price. The room was tired and the decor was dated, the four poster bed was clearly the glitter to mask everything else - without it you’d think you’d paid £300 for a £50 room. Once we’d settled in, the receptionist let herself into our room when giving other guests a tour - she did not return to apologise, the least you could do when bursting into an occupied hotel bedroom! The room doesn’t have an ensuite, it has a private bathroom across the hall, wouldn’t be a problem but the bathroom doesn’t have a shower, again it was very tired. We were also only served sparkling water in the room, which isn’t that convenient especially when you want to make a coffee and you have to take your kettle for a walk to the bathroom. Just little things like including some still water would make a difference, especially in a room without access to a sink. The rooms were not sound proofed at all so you could hear everything in the adjoining rooms and hallway, and the curtains weren’t blackout. Overall it was dated and if it wasn’t in Broadway you’d take £100 of the price easily. Breakfast was fine, although juice was served in the thimble.

From the moment your drive through the electronic gates, you know that you are booked in to somewhere special.
From the moment that the gates part you know at you are entering a very special place.
The 14th Centenary grange is relaxing and very special. We booked the Bishops suite. We had so much space and each room that we explored In those first minutes had us gasping at it’s beautiful restoration.
Each room is tastefully furnished with antique furniture and fittings and yet the bathroom facilities are up to the mark modern.
We loved our one night stay here and wished it could have been more. Breakfast in the great hall was just splendid. Pulpit honesty bar was an amazing bonus after a meal in town.
We wish that the weather was better so that we could enjoy the evening on the patio with the fire pit aglow but instead we enjoyed the log fire in the great hall.
The croquet lawn and the sun room were also items that we didn’t get to experience so my advise is, don’t book for one night, stay longer. The breakfast was lovely with soft guitar music playing in the background the staff very friendly and accommodating.

We went to Abbots Grange to celebrate my husband’s birthday just for one night and it will definitely not be the last time we stay there: the abbey is 14th century in origin and the oldest part of the property, including our ‘room’, the Bishops Suite, is full of character and exciting details. We found the priest hole, the old painted wardrobe once used for bishops’ vestments (we didn’t think it would approve of M and S trousers, so didn’t use it) and a ridiculously comfortable four poster bed. We enjoyed an up to the minute shower room, including a double sink and lights that came on automatically to show you where you were going. Sadly, we didn’t get round to lighting them, but there are two real fires, one in the sitting room and one in the bedroom. Romantic, or what! Just behind our room was the Great Hall, equally old and beautiful and incredibly relaxing - adults only. Hurrah!

Abbots Grange lies just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of lovely, fascinating Broadway, but you’d never know its eight acres and beautiful buildings were hidden behind the garden door and automatic gates at the bottom of a gravel drive. It doesn’t offer evening meals, but there are heaps of nice places to eat in Broadway within those few minutes’ walk, so what’s not to like>? The breakfasts are first class, with lots of choice and first class ingredients.

At this maddening time, we have to be obsessive about cleanliness and Abbots Grange is: everything gleamed and every room is fogged with anti viral mist after cleaning and before you arrive.

On top of all this, the staff are the friendliest you could wish to meet, coming out to greet you in the car park, offering every comfort you could wish for and highly efficient. The owner, Richard, is on hand to keep an eye on everything, too, which is always a good sign.

I’ m starting to wish I hadn’t written this now, since you might fill up the hotel and stop us returning, but I shall be generous and post it anyway in case you don’t!

We treated ourselves to a stay at Abbots Grange and were not disappointed. We stayed in the new Carriage Room which was beautifully appointed and had the most wonderful views. Every little detail has been thought of to make your stay more comfortable with automatic lights that turn on when you open the toilet door. The shower is huge with complimentary toietries and lovely fluffy towels, comfortable robes and slippers and the bed is so comfortable that it was hard to leave! However, the fantastic views over the Cotswold hills from the room were enticing. There is a lovely little private patio and seating area with this room and even a couple of sunbeds, though we did not use these in November.
Inside Abbots Grange you are immediately aware that is a building with an amazing history. The Great Hall is an impressive room and we enjoyed relaxing in here by a roaring fire and reading up on the history of the building which is fascinating.
Breakfast was a delight and served by the delightful, friendlyand helpful staff. We had a fruit compote to start that was delicious and like a meal in itself! We followed this with a vegetarian 'bacon' roll, which was washed down with lovely fresh orange juice and coffee. There was gluten free bread available to order and also alternative milks. Abbots Grange cater well for special dietary requirements, as long as they are informed of them.
We had the most fantastic stay at Abbots Grange and plan to go back. Our mission is to try every room! We plan to go back in the summer to enjoy the attractive gardens. The hotel is ideally placed with a short walk into the beautiful village of Broadway and you can leave the car in the secure car park and walk into the village in a couple of minutes, yet it is tucked away. A true hidden gem in the heart of the Cotswolds!

We stayed for 2 nights a few days before Christmas to celebrate my Husband’s 50th Birthday and we were not disappointed. We had complementary champagne on arrival and a lovely afternoon tea .The main hall was beautifully decorated where you can sit by the fire with a glass of port. The owners and staff are really friendly and breakfast was delicious and our room had lovely views of the countryside. The location is perfect as it is situated just off Broadway high street where you can visit great pubs, restaurants shops and cafes.

Absolutely lovely stay at Abbots Grange. It’s obviously very beautiful, even from just the pictures, but the atmosphere and feel of the place makes it really special. It has a really homely feel to it that I wasn’t expecting because on the face of it it’s so grand.

The rooms, dining room, great hall, outdoor spaces, honesty bar etc are all fantastic. The room was particularly wonderful, the bed was super comfy and even though everything feels true to the building’s age, it doesn’t feel dingy or ‘old’ at all. Everything is exceptionally clean too, the TV worked perfectly for an all important England match and everything feels nice and quiet (apart from the birds singing outside which was just lovely!). We had a lovely few hours outside on the sofas near the fire pit and felt so relaxed. The breakfast was also fab, and the service was really perfect. I loved how you were told some history of the building when you arrived.

We had a really brilliant stay here and I would really love to come back some time. Thank you Abbots Grange!

Emily thank you, and I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. It is difficult, even with the best web site in the world, to get across the atmosphere and feel of a place as you describe it. The age of the building and its extraordinary architecture plays a big part however, we are also blessed with a really special and dedicated staff team and this combines I think, to put people at ease. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and I hope to welcome you back sometime soon. Kindest regards, Kali Coles

We stayed at Abbots Grange during the summer months and it was absolutely fabulous. Due to a small inconvenience we were offered a complimentary two night stay in the Bishops Suite. We took up this very kind offer on the last day of November. It was lovely to revisit the Grange in a different season, to enjoy the warmth of the open fire in the Great Hall also the open fires in the Suite were a nice touch adding to the romantic setting. The Suite is equipped with modern facilities of a large walk in shower and luxury double basins, plus cosy fluffy bath robes and spa slippers. The four poster is in perfect keeping with the feel of the Grange, and so comfortable. Breakfast is the only meal available in the Grange, which is excellent, and there are many superb restaurants just a short walk through the hidden gate and over the village green. Lygon Arms is a must especially during the festive season. Thank you to Richard and his fabulous staff for once again making our trip to the Cotswolds absolutely magical.
