Very sympathetic and interesting hosts. We were fortunate that the hostess's father was also on site and showed my car-loving husband his vintage car collection.
The house has been faithfully restored, you feel a bit like it was in a British series, which dates back to the late 19th or early 20th century. It is set in the 19th century. Also the garden is fabulous - it was a great honour to spend two days here.
Which is equally spectacular: breakfast. Taken in the salon in front of a crackling fireplace, lovingly prepared by the landlady - this will remain in our memory for a long time. Staying here is a very private "being a guest", not a hotel.
We had the beautiful Garden Suite with four poster bed and felt very comfortable.
Two more suggestions perhaps: it would be nice to have an armchair in the room in addition to the small sofa
and: that the bathroom is not separated from the bedroom with a door or curtain, we were a bit uncomfortable. Visually, the transition from the main/bedroom to the bathroom, only with a few steps, is a highlight. But not everything you have to do in the bathroom you want to share directly with your partner or fellow traveler. ...
We would recommend guests to bring soft slippers, as bright, noble carpeting is laid in the house, rooms and bathroom.

We have just returned for a 2 night stay at Mill Hay Country House. Everything about the Mill Hay was excellent, from the accommodation, the hospitality, the breakfast, to the dogs. We were made to feel very welcome with nothing too much trouble. If you plan to stay in Broadway we strongly recommend you try Mill Hay first - We have stayed in Broadway many times, but can say this was one of the best visits - Don't forget to visit the Tower!!

Excellent weekend stay at Mill Bay House.
Greeted by Helen with tea and cakes (gluten free for my wife) served in front of a very cosy open fire.
Helen gave us lots of information to help us during our stay with recommendations as to places to visit and restaurants to try.
Our hosts Annette and Nigel were also very welcoming the room upgrade they gave us was much appreciated.
The breakfasts both mornings of our stay were lovely with several options to choose from.cosy
In all Mill Bay House was a wonderful place to stay and Broadway a lovely place to visit.
When we return to the Cotswolds we will certainly 're visit Mill Bay House.

Loved our time at Mill Hay House. A tranquil and historic setting for some time in the Cotswolds. Christina tended to our every need. And the owners were delightful and over the top hospitable. The room was clean and well appointed and bed comfortable. If we ever return to the Cotswolds we would certainly want this beautiful place to again be our base.

This beautiful home - and it is the owners' home - provides three rooms for guests. The large and comfortable public sitting room is a fine place to sip the complimentary sherry, and port provided for guests in almost empty decanters and the tiniest glasses imaginable. The house has been restored so as to largely preserve the essential character of the period building; however, the owners have made a few odd choices. For example, our room, the Rose Garden room, was finished with built-ins made from what appeared to be particle board or wood composite, and the same cheap "wood" was used in the bath, which had a Corian sink. Although the decor was tasteful, the use of inexpensive and inauthentic materials detracts from the feel of the rooms.
Also, our bath had only a tub, and no shower. There was no hose and nozzle attachment, as is common on better tub faucets, so it was very inconvenient for washing one's hair. The website says "traditional bath." I mistakenly took that to mean a bathtub with a shower above it. It would be very easy for the owners to clearly say "tub only." Earlier reviews indicate that another room lacks a door between the bath and bedroom. I do not know whether this inconvenience has been addressed.
The included breakfast was adequate but hardly gourmet. Some items are set out on a central table - juice, granola, breads, etc. - but if you arrive after the other guests you will not find the offerings to have been replenished. You will have what is leftover. The owner is very attractive and friendly and happy to chat as she provides your meal.
The house is very close to the adorable town of Snowshill, which has a classic pub that you should visit. It is also convenient for hiking up to the Broadway tower.
In sum, this is a nice place, with stunning views out of each window, but there is a sense of stinginess pervading what should feel like luxurious lodging.

We booked two rooms as a treat for my Mum and I as a rest stop on our way to Scotland on arrival we were met by the families son who was with friends as we pulled up so we were given the fastest tour ever to the point I politely let him know that my Mum is in her eighties and no longer runs .
The first night was restful enough despite no doors between bedrooms and bathrooms which made it uncomfortable for my mother when we were sitting chatting and she or I needed to use the loo despite the fact that the 'Suite 'had a sitting area next to the bathroom .I briefly saw the owner on the first night and let her know that there were several blown light bulbs in both rooms, and a lot of cobwebs- this was not sorted.
On the first night we became aware of a very odd smell in the bigger bedroom next morning it was very obvious that the carpet in the bathroom/bedroom was very stained ,and there was a damp area in the corner of the bathroom. The carpet was not nearly as stained as the carpet in the breakfast room which had yellow puddle stains in front of the fireplace -there were resident dogs an old one and from the sound of it a very young one.
Breakfast was thanks to not the owner but a lovely lady who came in and cooked each morning she put on a good spread of food ,and was charming. The owner however was just cold . We were asked by the owner 'have you ordered your breakfast!' not 'did you sleep well?' or even' good morning'!
Mum and I returned that evening for our second nights stay after a tiring day for my Mum at Hidcote garden and Snowshill -to discover a party in full swing the dinner for the party was right outside our bedrooms on the terrace and the owners and their guests did not go indoors until after 1030pm and the last door slammed was 1am .They were also referring to the people staying as old biddies .....sorry we are not old!! Not once did the owner say she was having a party and when confronted about it the next day we were told that she felt that she had every right to a party and we would just have to put up with it,as their guest the night before were 'very educated people'. Then went stomping off. She also said that I did not hear the old biddies phrase -a bit difficult not too as it was said at full bellow it is amazing how terrible 'very educated people' sound when they are roaring drunk. When the cook asked where the brown bread was we could hear -oh just give them that! like we were the dirt under her feet.
The other interesting thing about this house is that the owners appear to have older parents staying with them and the lady is a little confused as to who the people in the house are so kept coming to our bedroom door at 6 am both mornings to say hello and good morning........go figure!! We were charged £ 770 for two rooms for two nights even though there was only two of us .........Please there are better choices to be made do not be a fool like me.
I had to drive to Scotland which took 6 hours thanks to road works and accidents on five hours sleep something I also would NOT recommend!!

The owners live in this house and rent out three of the rooms.
We stayed in the Garden Suite which was comfortable and spacious. The room (and the house) is tastefully and elegantly decorated. The only thing we felt was slightly odd/quirky was that there is no door connecting the bedroom to the bathroom.
The cooked breakfast was excellent.
Mill Hay House is located in the picturesque village of Broadway. All in all a very pleasant stay.

This was my 3rd time to Broadway. Last time I identified this was the place I wanted to stay on my return. It is next to St Eadburgha's Church which is one of my favorite peaceful places. It is across the street from an equestrian school, and the country path that leads into Broadway.
Mill Hay Country House is vibrating with history, and is decorated with art and antiques to fill out the ambiance. The grounds are beautifully tended, and at night you can hear 2 streams in the distance, and the sheep baaing. It is a short walk into town, whether you walk along the country road or through the fields. For longer walks you can head away from Broadway to Snowshill Manor, up the hill behind the property to Buckland, or up in the front of the property to Broadway Tower where William Morris hung out with his friends. I had the room with the balcony that looks out onto the back of the property. This room has a shower but no bath, probably a fine tradeoff if you want the balcony. The only thing I would change is I wish they would sweep the balcony so I could have gone out barefoot on a summer's evening.

My partner and I, together with two friends have just spent the weekend at Mill Hay, to celebrate a birthday. It was perfect in every way. The rooms were so comfortable, the breakfast choice was imaginative, plentiful and delicious and the house itself stunning. I can't speak highly enough of it. The owners were very welcoming and hospitable, nothing was too much trouble and we were treated like friends. We shall definitely stay there again.

On arrival the room I booked a few months earlier with the balcony was occupied and it was clear that this was not going to change, we were offered an “upgrade” and as this was a special treat and day for my wife, I did not want to cause a scene. What we had not noticed was that this upgraded room had no closing door to the bathroom and toilet. At breakfast the next day and after saying a cheery good morning to the lady of the house we were ignored for some time whilst she explained the workings of her exercise watch to a nice group of German guests. When we did get some attention it was explained that she thought others were looking after us, although it was plain to see we had not been looked after, as she stood next to our table. The main gardens were nice, however, some of the areas where we were invited to explore were dangerous with broken slabs and rubble.
