Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Interestingly enough the bed was very large ,very comfortable and the linen and pillows were fine. A quiet country retreat not somewhere to visit if you want a loud, buzzing modern hotel. Very warm suite room and bathroom which was surprising as the ceilings are traditionally high with huge bay and sash windows. A good selection of drinks in the traditional country bar, food of very good quality and served piping hot,you will see the warnings on the menus about the crockery temperatures!!.. Staff very friendly and attentive without being overbearing and the grounds of the hotel in December were beautiful.. Would also make a superb summer location presumably with outside areas to sit, although to be honest the log fire in the lobby was a very popular spot. Not party central we were glad to discover, great to chill out and relax. A number of dogs staying so if you are not a pooch fan( the public areas allow dogs) then not ideal. We left our dog at home.

A wonderful setting and lovely old stately home with interesting history and pleasant grounds .Loved the log fire and the ambiance in the reception and living rooms . The staff were friendly and helpful. We were all impressed with our breakfast . A great venue for our group of friends . Our rooms were comfy but very small Hope the refurbishment doesn't spoil the feel of the place .

First impressions were nice a lovely old building. When we arrived realised that there was lots of work needed. The room looked tired. We stayed in room 12 the four poster bed was so rickety we were worried it would fall apart if you gave it a shake, I’m not sure it would take much action in it. The bar was ok a bit lifeless in my opinion The breakfast wasn’t too bad but my egg was a weird colour and the waitress was talking about flem to her colleagues Would we return prob not

Just got back from a one night stay here and want to say how lovely it was! The building and countryside setting is exceptional. This is an old building so expect to find old fittings etc. it is very clean and the staff were exceptional !!! The food was very pleasant for the price paid. Lovely and tasty and served on hot plates. I would recommend staying here if you want to experience and old stately home in a beautiful setting.

Let's start with positives: Beautiful building with amazing grounds. Staff very friendly Dog friendly Nice rural setting The negatives: The bed was the worst I have slept in ever...bouncy soft and lumpy that afforded no sleep and really hurt my back The pillows and duvet likewise the worst I have ever experienced they were lumpy and felt like they were filled with straw Also the bedding made my skin itch and irritated The decor of the room was shabby and depressing with pain chipped and flaked from all walls The bathroom felt more akin to a youth hostel than a stunning cotswolds Manor House The bar area although Beautiful in terms of the room and ceilings etc was filled with stained tired and cheap looking furniture The food in the bar was OK, typical of a run of the mill pub but not in keeping with the type of building is was served in. I can't comment on breakfast as the sleep and room were so bad that we checked out at 2am and preferred to travel on and sleep in the car before our next destination. They are closing soon for major renovations, I wish I'd known this prior to booking and tried it post works and I really hope they don't his historic building justice and give it the investment it needs to make it worthy of its grandeur and location...sadly for us I think its once bitten twice shy, just an awful room and sleep experience...my recommendation is don't go now wait and see what happens once re-opened.

beautiful views however we noticed some else's knickers from a previous night on the floor , not sure if it was from under the bed or flicked out from under the sheets while we where using the bed but very disguising.

We went with a group of friends and staying at this hotel made the whole experience doubly enjoyable. The staff are friendly and efficient, the bedrooms very comfortable and ours was very spacious too. The food was delicious and the hotel is set in beautiful parkland . A wonderful place to get away from it all.

The hotel is very comfortable. Situated in extensive grounds it offers good sized well equipped rooms with all the facilities you would expect at this price point. The staff are well trained and very helpful. The restaurant provided a good selection of very well prepared food at reasonable prices . All in all a great experience.

What an absolutely stunning place. Gorgeous location, beautiful grounds with lakes and pheasants and deer. Very comfortable room. But the best thing was the charming staff, especially Mitchell the manager who was very ‘hands on’ too. The food was delicious and plentiful both for breakfast and dinner. Could not fault it. Will be back!
