I had a very impressive stay at this hotel. I didn’t have the pleasure of a room in the main building, instead being in an outbuilding, newly built in the rear of the estate. However this was far from being a disappointment and I’d happily book there again. The room was large and spacious, modern and very clean. The decor was very cosy and all the facilities you’d need are provided - ironing board, safe, hot drink facilities and lots of storage. While the LED light bulbs weren’t the brightest there was a number of lights throughout the room to compensate, and the chandelier in the main bedroom area gave a high end feel. The TV was a good size and the heating in the room was effective along with having windows which opened. Annoyingly there were no electric sockets at either side of the bed, so devices needed to be changed at the large desk area, beneath a TV which was a good size for the room. Overall the sleep quality was great, with the bed being large and very comfortable and no noise from the corridor or outside.
The bathroom was very spacious and a really pleasant area. There was a good number of high quality towels, the Molton Brown toiletries a great touch and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The sink and shower over the bath were traditional in design but worked well and the expanse of storage space was really welcome.
The bar in the main building is a lovely space, with a wide variety of spirits but unfortunately less of a range of beers. The staff were super friendly and efficient at the service, with all the drinks presented and served professionally, plus there’s loads of seating available for groups, couples and singles, with a lot of space in the area behind the bar.
The restaurant was surprisingly busy but understandably so. The menu has a good range of items and it’s a really nice setting with a relaxing atmosphere. All the dishes were presented well and portion sizes not too bad for the prices. The tuna tartar starter was tasty, although the promise of foie gras was rather disappointing in reality. The pork cheek main was very tasty and the chocolate desert rounded things off perfectly. The staff were all lovely and the place made for a very nice evening experience.
Overall it was a wonderful stay here and I can’t wait to return. With a comfortable room, great bar and restaurant, and beautiful gardens it lives up to it’s aim of being a venue more than just a hotel. There’s clearly a lot of history here too and with the decor that adds to the brilliant environment and experience - I can’t wait to return.

We stayed at the Wood Norton for 3 nights and genuinely loved every minute. The deal we got was great value for money and we were so impressed with the quality of food, drinks, the staffing team and the history of the building.
We were in room 209 which was clean and comfortable and I found myself sleeping better than I do at home. We will be back and we hope to stay in a suite as they are beautifully decorated and they have retained the historical elements that we find so fascinating. We were very fortunate that Sarah on reception showed us two of the empty suites during our stay and we were in awe at the grandeur, like much of the hotel itself.
The detail of the woodwork and decor was so impressive and we felt like we had stepped back in time.
The staff were incredible. We had the most interaction with Sarah and Natalie on reception and both of them made us feel so welcome and almost at home. They went out of their way to answer our questions, show us around and help us with anything we needed. The barman who’s name we didn’t get unfortunately was wonderful too and he recommend a rum to my husband (dead mans fingers) and it did not disappoint! He also made us a wonderful jug of cocktail on our anniversary and we got a complimentary glass of fizz to help us celebrate our anniversary which was a lovely touch from the hotel staff.
The morning staff are kept so busy with the breakfast rush but were so polite and accommodating and always served us with a smile.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel was superb. For breakfast you have the option of full English (veggie options too) eggs benedict/royale or florentine along with other bits such as pastries. Dinner was superb, the chefs really are very talented and we got to eat outside with the spectacular view on offer at the Wood Norton!
The gardens are beautiful, shame the fountain at the front hasn’t been restored but I’m sure it will be done soon and will add another element of beauty to the grounds. We had the best time and the attentiveness of the staff, the luxurious feel of the hotel, the wonderful food and drinks along with the peaceful surroundings made our stay wonderful.
We can’t wait to come back! Thank you to all those that work at the Wood Norton!

Due to rules changing regularly concerning Covid, we decided to book a hotel for our anniversary closer to the time.
My husband found a great deal staying at The Wood Norton for 1 night in 1 of their suites, which included cream tea on arrival with a bottle of Prosecco (it should have been left in our room, but because of new measures put in place, we had to collect at the bar) & a meal worth up to £30pp. We were both really impressed as everything provided was to a great quality.
The room was lovely and clean and the bathroom was just gorgeous as had a roll top bath and huge shower.
Although the window had condensation & was a little old, it did not detract from the room and we didn’t notice any draught coming through.
All the staff we encountered, were very friendly yet professional which really made our night away even better.
On our departure, we had champagne afternoon tea which was not included in the package but was still very reasonable.
We loved it that much, that we are thinking of sending my in laws here for their anniversary next year.

Stayed for 1 night as a first getaway trip since lockdown .
Hotel looks beautiful and is an impressive building , sadly that’s where it all ends .
Stayed on a dinner b&b package including a cream tea and bottle of bubbly in your room. Nothing in the room on arrival . 3 requests later finally had something.
Stayed in the pear tree mews building. Room was nice , spacious and well decorated but dreadful lighting , so bad needed the torch on my phone to see into the wardrobe!
Had dinner in the restaurant , menu was pretty poor and more like pub food . Within the package had an allocated amount towards dinner, we struggled to use this amount from the menu.
Went to the bar after dinner to have a few drinks. Bar was completely empty , no atmosphere . Wanted some spirits with a lemonade mixer, the hotel has no lemonade and only a handful of spirits. We left the drinks and had some wine in our room .
Following morning the wife came out of the shower , no hairdryer in the room . No issues I’ll ring reception, phone doesn’t work . Long walk to reception to try and find someone , eventually after a long wait hairdryer arrived .
The breakfast and the staffing has to be the worst I have experienced for many years . Breakfast room was full with guests , only 2 staff members working so long waits to get seated, tables to be cleared and for the food itself which when it arrived was not worth waiting for. I failed to get anyone’s attention to try and complain as there were only 2 of them .
With businesses being closed for so long over lockdown you would assume when they re-open they would be at the top of their game with customer service and generally making guests feel welcome and attracting business , I really didn’t feel that was the case here. Both the service and the food was poor. Without those basics in place it makes you wonder how long business can survive with just an impressive looking building to keep things afloat ?
I definitely wouldn't return , disappointing and appears badly run.

I stayed at the hotel on the Country Getaway package.
The bedroom and public areas were clean, if not a little dated.
The cream tea was good and we were given the choice of having our Prosecco with then or with dinner which was appreciated.
Breakfast service on Monday morning was efficient and the cooked breakfast was of good quality, although a limited choice of hot foods only.
The majority of the staff were very friendly and polite.
Dinner on Sunday night was a shambles. We had a long wait for our main courses and then the waitress brought us the wrong order. Once the correct order arrived it had to be sent back as it was lukewarm and then it was very poor. The steak was tough, and the chicken dish was disappointing. We did not bother with desserts.
The hotel website states under their Covid-19 procedures that they send out pre-arrival information including a registration card and health check questionnaire. I did not receive this and had to complete all information whilst stood at the reception desk which increased contact time for myself and the team and is hardly a 'minimum touch' approach. None of the staff were wearing masks and there was no screen at the reception desk.
Check out was poor with a lack of professionalism and care from the receptionist. The desk had been left unattended and open. She did not bother to ask how my stay was.
I replied to the hotel's request for feedback which has not yet been acknowledged almost two weeks later.
The hotel could be so much better. It has lovely grounds and so much character.

We got married at The Wood Norton in June 2021, after postponing from September 2020. The wedding planning process was great, the hotel were extremely accommodating of our postponement and did everything they could to ensure we had the most special day despite the covid restrictions in place - special thanks to Katie for this! The hotel and gardens are absolutely beautiful and made a wonderful backdrop for our photos, and the 2 rooms I stayed in in the main hall (Hallet Suite night prior, Princess Louise Suite as our bridal suite) are absolutely stunning, lovely comfy beds, great bathrooms and fantastic views across the lawn. 5 of us ate in the restaurant the night before the wedding and although the food is on the pricier side, we felt it was worth it as it was delicious! All of our wedding guests really enjoyed the food on our wedding day as well and commented on the excellent location. We had the absolute best day and are so thankful to the staff at the hotel and can't wait to return again. The only niggle was breakfast - they seemed a little short staffed, possibly due to having only just reopened to guests, so service was on the slower side.

We stayed in a hall feature room (no. 104) and it was beautiful. Wood panelled walls, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was huge with a free standing bath, a large rainforest walk-in shower and luxury shower gels supplied. There is a window seat in the bedroom with the most stunning views.
The food was hot and well cooked, amazing strawberry daiquiris and all staff were really genuine and friendly. We feel happy, rested and very well looked after. We will be back! Thankyou for a fantastic break.

As a party of 3 seniors (2 registered disabled) we found the hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful. Both rooms (301 and 305) were ideal for our needs. The small issues we had with missing items were soon rectified and the location is ideal for easy access to Evesham town centre. The hotel itself is impressive and the surrounding views are lovely.
We are not ones to give negative reviews, but I feel we have to mention that we had good and bad experiences with the food. The breakfast on day one was excellent and the service second to none.
Breakfast on day 2 was okay but there were no hash browns and the table service could have been better. Unlike day one, we were not offered toast or juice and we had to ask for side plates and an extra knife for the toast.
The Sunday evening meal was an advenchure. The fish dish was fine, but the steak ordered by my husband was a total disappointment. It was cold, hardly cooked and tough as old boots. He was not given a steak knife, but it's doubtful that an electric saw would have done the job. My husband has never returned a meal in his whole 72 years before, but had no alternative on this occasion. He settled for cheese & biscuits and thankfully we were not charged for the steak.

Beautiful hotel that has been very well renovated to maintain all the key period features but contemporary at the same time.
We booked a deal that upgraded us to a main hall bedroom that had a fantastic view over the front lawns and on to the surrounding countryside.
We received a warm welcome and had cream tea in the bar whilst waiting for the room to be available. The scones are definitely recommended.
Evening dinner was delicious and the service was polite and attentive but not in your face.
We were told that there was a wedding and that there would be more people than usual. But as the main wedding venue is in the separate orangery this didn’t cause any issues with noise or crowding. In fact, it was really nice to see a proper wedding taking place and the happy couple and families.
Breakfast was busy the following morning (all the extra wedding guests) and this was the one area that fell down slightly. The team were very busy trying to keep up and table clearance had suffered. There was also a limited selection of continental buffet items left and they weren’t replenished. We could have avoided this by going down earlier but seemed to pick the same time as everyone else (10am ish). So, the tip would be get your breakfast in early if there’s a wedding.
If you’re interested, the history of the hall and its ownership by the BBC is fascinating. As is the not-so-secret nuclear bunker under the hill.

Comfortable attractive period hotel on the edge of the Cotswolds with a great restaurant. Staff were lovely and very helpful, asked for a shower cap and it was there within two minutes, you don’t get that kind of service in many hotels.
Access for those with mobility issues is not that great being an older property but there are ways around it. Room 107 was a bit of a maze to get to but we found it was right next door to the staff entrance and an easy stroll to the restaurant/bar going round the outside. Two steps to the door but my wife can manage a couple of steps, so probably one of the better rooms in the hotel.
The room was huge, bathroom bigger than most rooms we have stayed in. Although next to the staff door we heard very little noise.
There was a wedding while we were staying but it did not intrude as the the venue was not in the main building. The main breakfast area was busy in the morning, but there’s a lovely quiet side room.
Great table service breakfast, shame the sausage was a little too “posh”! A bit too herby (very) for my liking I’m afraid, still ate the lot though lol!
Restaurant is great for a couple of nights stay and with a small but good wine list.
Our only negatives were the herby sausage and our room was a little tired with the enamel gone on the bath, staining around the huge shower.
I’d give it a 4 and a half. Would we stay again - Yes.
Access for those with mobility issues is not that great being an older property but there are ways around it. Room 107 was a bit of a maze to get to but we found it was right next door to the staff entrance and an easy stroll to the restaurant/bar going round the outside. Yes they do
A lovely room, very clean. Moulton Brown toileteries. Superb staff who respond to whatever you ask of them. Lovely food. Lots of extras.
We stayed for several days last Christmas and hope to do so again!
I think both. Certainly a hairdryer!
Lots of great walks to suit everyone.
Also plenty of places of interest in both Evesham and Pershore.
Enjoy !
