I recently stayed at Diglis House Hotel for a friends reunion after several months of lockdown. The hotels location on the River Severn is fantastic and clearly a popular choice amongst travellers and locals. The whole experience was stunning and certain staff members, especially Nathan and Lenu were first class.

After enjoying an afternoon by the river we ate and the food was spot on before going into town to sample some pubs as advised from our trusted guide Nathan. The rooms are comfortable and well worth the price point although in all honesty we spent very little time in there.

Breakfast was so well organised and orders taken the night before and delivered to us at 9.30am in the conservatory as planned. Again the breakfast was delicious.

We stayed for Sunday roast and yet again the Roast beef was perfect, no surprises there.

All in all I really couldn’t fault my stay at Diglis House and would go as far as saying it was perfect even operating in very difficult times. I will definitely be going back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for a nice break away or staycation in the U.K.

Just arrived home after 2 nights stay at diglis house hotel. Location was wonderful, located on the river seven . We stayed in room 32 ,the bay window over looked the river where numerous swans gracefully swam up and down the river pass our window. River boats also regularly passed
.The room was spotlessly clean and lovely size with 2 arm chairs to sit and relax and watch the world go by (unlike most hotels where only 1 chair is normally in the rooms). Added bonus was the outside patio table and chairs which we took advantage of to sit outside and relax after a long walk along the river. We dined in last night and the al a carte was divine and staff were very pleasant and professional. All the hotel staff we en counted during our 2 night stay were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious with plenty of choice.Drinks menu was rather expensive but staying in such a lovely hotel in such a lovely location we didn't decline ordering. We contacted reception twice with queries and both queries were dealt with without any quibbling and dealt with with professionalism and politeness. Would definitely stay again and recommend to family, All main attractions within easy walking distance,Only one small thin i would say is the door to our room in right opposite the bed and even thou it has frosted glass panels i felt little uncomfortable that maybe people passing might see inside, The light outside shone in so was constant light shining in through the night but very kindly at our request the receptionist shut the light off the following night .Still some light shining through from other lights near by , maybe a curtain to cover the glass panels would be a idea. Thank you for such a wonderful 2 night stay.

Stayed from the 29th October to the 31st for our 51st anniversary.

Our room was in the new annex on the ground floor overlooking the river, the room was clean and spacious, the bathroom is of a modern style, very good shower, toiletries supplied, the bed was comfortable and a good size, i am 6ft and it was not a problem for me, the only downside was the room was very warm and as it is on the ground floor you could not open a window, I always have a window open all year round, there is a fan in the wardrobe but the noise would disturb sleeping.

The staff in all departments were polite and very helpful, the hotel was very busy during our stay but the staff managed very well, they had a system in the morning for breakfast, you were served in the order you were seated, so a short wait was to be expected, the breakfast was very good with plenty on offer.

Perfect location for the town centre, lovely walks along the river either way, the car park at the front of the hotel is limited but there are more spaces at the rear of the hotel, we arrived early parked and informed the reception, we then walked into town and checked in on our return later that afternoon.

We would return to the Diglis hotel without hesitation, but would ask for a second floor room next time.

Visited Worcester as only our second break since the coronavirus crisis. The hotel has a great setting by the river with a large garden with picnic tables and an outside area reserved for guests. It is within easy walking distance of the cathedral and city centre The hotel itself was very comfortable and well organised with respect to the coronavirus precautions without being overbearing. The Breakfast was substantial but the usual dinner menu was slightly restricted at the time of our visit due to the virus but the food was good nonetheless. Would definitely book again if visiting the area

My wife and I booked for 2 nights and had a very comfortable stay. The superior double room we booked was spacious with desk and chair, two arm chairs and of course the double bed. A very hard mattress but that's my preference. Tea and coffee facilities in the room with biscuits. The hotel is ideally situated by the River Severn and yet is only 5 minutes walk into the town. The staff were friendly and helpful and of the 8 UK hotels we've stayed in since the COVID19 lockdown this was the most COVID aware - all staff with face coverings, breakfast delivered to your room if you preferred, hand sanitiser everywhere. The full English breakfast (vegetarian or otherwise) with cereal and toast was ample. A lovely hotel in a delightful setting - would recommend and would happily stay here again.

We know the Diglis of old. Beautiful building sitting in gorgeous manicured gardens right on the river Severn by Worcester Cathedral. What’s not to like? Erm… the menu. They have been on an extended shut down during COVID and have recently reopened. On a beautiful early summer Friday evening dog walk we were lucky enough to get a table for drinks and snacks. Everything is well spaced out, the garden was busy but not overcrowded and the waiting staff were beyond helpful. All good thus far.
We were told that the kitchen opened in 10 mins so we could wait for food or we could order bar snacks… when we asked what their bar snacks were we were told ‘crisps and nuts’ No overly imaginative so we decided to wait.
It’s a limited and uninspiring menu.. a strange ‘sharing board’ consists of pigs in blankets (it’s not Christmas) Whitebait and deep fried cheese squares.
We chose whitebait, garlic & cheese ciabatta & a serving of nachos.
Bearing in mind the kitchen had just opened the waitress returned immediately and told us there was no whitebait. We doubled up on nachos.
What a mistake. The ciabatta arrived plonked on and welded to a black napkin on a plate. No garnish, no presentation just a block of bread that had clearly been microwaved. Nachos were no better. Half a bag of Doritos type crisps in a bowl with jalapeños, a pot of salsa and microwaved tasteless cheese on top. We ‘upgraded’ to shredded bacon & chicken topping.. I think one rasher of bacon was added and the chicken was clearly deli style insipid meat chopped into cubes. All pretty inedible.
Wine was average..for a New Zealand Sauvignon that cost £26 a bottle.
I’m told the Diglis has changed hands. It’s clear they don’t have a chef. Please don’t waste your money on food here.
It’s such a shame ….this place has the potential to be amazing but it needs a decent menu and wine list.
There are so many other brilliant food outlets all serving tasty creative and good value food in Worcester and unfortunately the Diglis is currently not one of them.

I have stayed here on a number of occasions pre pandemic and always enjoyed it. Unfortunately my recent stay was disappointing. The room was spotless albeit exceptionally warm, but we tried to order a sandwich and despite the information book in the room saying food stopped at 6pm we tried to order at 5.45 and were told it finished at 5pm and said the book was not up to date.. Breakfast was a real disappointment. My wife ordered the scrambled eggs which were atrocious, very grainy and tasteless probably a mix rather than fresh eggs. I am Coeliac so ordered Bacon & Eggs with gluten free toast. I got 2 shrivelled pieces of bacon and 1 egg with a toasted bap - not great value for money and we both left still hungry.. No one asked if breakfast was ok and no one asked if our stay was ok so this is the answer - No

Dear Pat. Thank you very much for your review and I apologise wholeheartedly for the issues during your visit to the Diglis. Obviously, these issues need to be investigated and reported to the Food and Beverage Department as a priority. Through ongoing training my aim is to ensure outcomes such as this do not happen at the hotel and I take complaints very seriously, constructive criticism is the only way we can improve. Again, I thank you for your review and should you return please make yourself known to the staff so I can personally apologise and endeavour to make your visit far more pleasant. Kind Regards. Great location only a 5 minute walk along the river and past the cathedral to the city centre. Parking available on site and upon arrival we received a friendly welcome from all staff we encountered.

The room was extremely spacious with a nice view out over the garden and of the river and the bed extremely comfortable.

Due to Covid we had to book a time slot for breakfast which was well managed with tables wiped down between guests. The full English did exactly what it says on the tin and filled me up and set me up for the day.

If you like a modern hotel this might not be for you but if you like something with a bit of charm and character I would definitely recommend.

We stayed for the first time August 12th 2022 for 2 nights bed and breakfast and weren't disappointed!
From initial emails discussing requirements for my dietary and disability needs right through to the end of the stay.
The room was exactly as required and was in an amazing location of the hotel. We had a junior suite in the annex with doors opening into the garden and views of the river and the river life.
Amazingly comfortable bed and spotless room everything we needed was there for our stay.
We had an evening meal in the restaurant and it was superb and surprisingly good value and local produce was on the menu.
The dining and breakfast staff in the restaurant was excellent special mention to Josie for looking after us so well.
Every single member of staff was courteous, friendly, helpful and on hand but also discreet in their presence.
We felt so comfortable, relaxed and were delighted with all aspects of our break.
The kitchen team produced mouthwatering breakfasts and evening meals coooked on what were some of the hottest days of the year!
The final word goes to the housekeeping staff....went above and beyond their jobs in many ways and gave us useful local knowledge and did everything they could to ensure we felt looked after! Top tips for us attending a local event too.
If you get the opportunity to go to Worcester, pop into the hotel for breakfast, coffee, lunch , evening meal or a drink you won't be disappointed.
AND if you want a relaxing, peaceful and romantic stay away then look no further!
Thank you all staff at The Diglis for making us so welcome!

We were absolutely thrilled with the hotel on our arrival. The position on the river couldn’t be better and the scenery is wonderful plus we had a super welcome from the lady at reception . Our room was in a cottage at the end of the gardens and despite a disappointing entrance to the cottage the actual room was delightful with a welcoming seating area and a super bathroom with an excellent bath. There is quite a bit of noise travel from the room above but that is quite understandable. We had really hoped to relax and spend our evening at the hotel having drinks and dinner next to the river however this wasn’t possible. Despite being told on checking in that we could dine and should just ask for the menu at the bar we were greeted by completely blank bar staff who seemed appalled that we had asked for a menu and had trouble finding one. Once this was located it was extremely disappointing with a photocopied small selection of basic pub food. We said we’d look at the menu and decide but would order drinks in the meantime. We were told to take a seat outside and someone would be with us - ten minutes later we walked into Worcester and had a pizza at Zizi where the service and friendly welcome were most appreciated. There was a wonderful looking wedding happening in the function room but none of the staff I spoke to seemed to be serving the wedding soo don’t think that was the problem . We had a nightcap by the river on our return but I had to let my husband deal with the ordering as the confusion from the poor boy behind the bar was somewhat frustrating! I suspect it wasn’t his fault and that he lacked training. I’m glad to say that Breakfast was considerably better and I’d love to go back when things have been sorted out.

Dear Pixie89. Thank you for your review. We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay and found your room and the staff welcoming. We agree, we are most fortunate to work in such a beautiful setting. I am so sorry for the issues you encountered regarding food and drink. I cannot understand why this confusion from the team came about for you. Unfortunately, like many, many, hospitality businesses at the moment, we are struggling to fill many of our vacancies. Most notably chefs. We have only about 1/3 of the team we should have, and to that end, we have to offer a food menu that we are able to manage. Naturally, we would love to have a full A La Carte menu running alongside our main menu, but sadly, this is not the position we are in. I am so sorry that we are not in a position to be able to elaborate our menus. We do serve a selection of ciabattas and hot and cold snacks during the day until 4pm, and after that our residents can enjoy an evening menu from 5pm until 8pm. I am so sorry that there was confusion from our teams which led you to eat elsewhere. As and when we are able to recruit a full compliment of chefs, we can start to improve on our food offerings and indeed have from this week introduced a lovely A LA Carte menu for our residents to enjoy. I appreciate that this does not help your situation from the weekend, but I wanted to give you the confidence that we are doing everything we can. Thank you for letting us know that breakfast was good for you. I hope this has gone some way to showing you the Diglis can do better and is indeed improving daily. We would love for you to come back and visit us on a future occasion and if you do, please let me know so that I can apologise to you in person. Kind Regards. Debra Jones. General Manager
