Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Didn't have the best start because of a mix up with the booking, (totally my fault!) but Julie was very helpful in sorting it, and a warm welcome from her when we arrived too, she was very informative about the history of the building. This is a lovely mansion house with a cosy feel about it, all staff were very pleasant and friendly. We didn't have an evening meal because it was a set taster menu and didn't appeal to us, but obviously that's a personal choice. The breakfast was lovely. Will definitely be returning.

We had a really enjoyable 2 night stay. The staff are lovely, polite and helpful and the hotel itself is really great. Lots of history and amazing grounds. Very comfortable stay and we will definitely stay here again. We really enjoyed the delicious breakfasts.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. As a family we had two rooms, one in the main house and one dog friendly room to accommodate our two frenchies on the stay. Staff at the hotel were welcoming and warming on arrival, throughout our stay they went above and beyond for us. Nothing was too much and they accommodated us for meal times with the two dogs also. Highly recommend. We will be back again in the new year.

Everything about the weekend was excellent, and the place certainly packs a visual punch, and is very nice, but the main point was the utterly brilliant staff, who are attentive, helpful and offer superb customer care. Nothing is too much trouble. They are THE selling point of this hotel, and are a solid 11 out of 10 for their attitude and consideration.

We stayed in the Nightingale Suite. Fantastic - the room was probably bigger than my first house! Superb place - it does live up to expectations. The only disappointment was that we had selected this hotel using Booking.com on the basis of it having an electric charging point. To find that it was two chargers that were Tesla only was a bit of a shock. Why do so many hotels seem to limit the chargers to just a sub-set of of EV cars? And why do Booking.com not document these anomalies? If you do need to charge a car in Aberystwyth then I recommend using the Welsh National Library site. They have many fast charging points. And the library was a fantastic place to spend an hour or so while car was charging.

I brought afternoon tea for my mum to take with a friend when we came out of Covid. I went there personally to buy it and told them it’s for my mum as she in her 80s and lives in the village. When her friend who is 90 agreed to go it was over a year but it had to be taken within the year. I rang the hotel and spoke to the a lady who was the manger and she said it’s to late we was about 4 months out. I said I live down spiny and my mum left it so her friend would come but she said know it’s to late. The fact is I had paid good money up front and I could not use it or get my money back. Coming out of Covid you think she would understand but she said no and said she don’t care if I leave a review of my experience so this person should not work in hospitality. It’s disgusting when you have paid the money . Customer satisfaction is important without customer nobody gets paid it’s as simple as that.

Response from Nanteos Manager, General Manager at Nanteos Mansion
Responded 8 Sept 2023
Good afternoon Thank you for taking the time to review us however I feel I must clarify a few points here. After covid we kindly extended numerous gift vouchers and continue to offer extensions, provided voucher holders contact us prior to the expiry date to request this. Your particular voucher if I recall was some considerable time past it's expiry date, not 4 months and therefore we simply couldn't offer an extension after such a long period of time, something I do not deem unreasonable. I am sorry that this puts you out of pocket however there was ample time for both the voucher to be used or an extension to be requested which we would have happily issued. I did not said I 'don't care' rather politely outlined the reasons why we could no longer accept the voucher as stated above, and that you were welcome to leave a review if you felt dissatisfied. With Kind Regards Claire Stott

This was a heartstopping experience. The place is amazing, and the staff were as good as I have ever experienced, and that's saying a lot. The rooms are large and very well appointed, very comfy beds and large bathrooms. The breakfast was huge and yummy, and all the staff from reception to the kitchen were attentive and charming. The price was more than reasonable for the quality of the whoe experience. I have paid a lot more for a lot less in other locations. Everyone deserves to stay at the Plas Nanteos Mansion at least once in their lives, and we will definitely be going back.

Our second visit to Nanteos mansion, this time stopping in the Nightingale suite. The room, bed and bath tube are huge! If paranormal phenomena is your thing, this is the place to be, this is the room with the boarded up window and above the morning room with Lady ‘Elizabeth’s portrait. However, don’t let this review put you off, from booking, the phenomenon was so discreet-you really needed to look for it. The mansion does have dedicated ghost nights, look on internet. We had a fabulous afternoon tea, one of the best spreads in recent times. The mansion was well kept, clean and the staff ultra friendly, especially Alec.

I've put 2022 but it was actually nearer 2020 from memory . I've know this house since it was a private home back in the 1980's and on my first stay in 2018 it was great to see it restored and operating as a friendly but very 'boutique' venue - only stayed for a weekend but came away feeling as though we had been away for a week it was so relaxing. Then disaster ! Returned for another weekend only to find the place filled with rowdy wedding guests - we were kept awake all night by the partying and the whole quiet seclusion of the venue was ruined . So avoid weekends that look heavily booked or ring the venue beforehand to see what the environment is going to be like !!

Response from Nanteos Manager, General Manager at Nanteos Mansion
Responded 8 Sept 2023
Good afternoon We are sorry to hear that your experience was disrupted by the presence of a wedding also taking place during your stay. We have since taken measures to ensure that all weddings are booked exclusively and the hotel not let out to non-wedding guests during such events to ensure this does not happen again. With Kind Regards Claire Stott
